Major Stutter..... !!!

Ok been playing just over a day and really enjoying this game and because it`s free either. I`ve managed to get a few friends involved and playing too... this game kinda reminds me of my days in Everquest II and World Of War craft.

The real problem here is the major stuttering that happens, like for instance i have just logged out of game because im trying my hardest to get out of Etherblade`s east door to run a quest and everytime i get anywhere near the door/gate my character gets thrown back several yards... this keeps happening repeatedly, over and over. I just spent about 3-5 minutes trying to get out and failing misserably.

This game is really cool and like i said i got friends now playing too, but i can`t **** the stuttering, it`s driving me mad, is there going to be a fix of this anytime soon, i don`t really want to spend a whole night trying to get out of a city to just get nowhere.

    Try not to drop off of heights. Also, having a good internet connection helps with the lag.

    My net connection is fine im on BT Broadband, never had this problem with other major MMO`s like the ones mentioned in my post starter, i also havent dropped of any heights, i was just simply running from the quest giver at the opposite end of the city, and as soon as i got near the gate it threw me back again and kept doing it.

    It's called Rubberbanding, and has been in PW since the game was released. After each expansion it slowly gets worse. There is no fix in the future.

    Rubberbanding generally only happens when you are falling down a slope or running/jumping quickly along uneven terrain. Its usually not that bad though - happening only a few times at most.

    It's got nothing to do with your internet, rubberbanding is because of an error in the game.

    There is absolutely nothing you can do about it at this point, so you'll have to get used to it.

    Don't worry, it's like Stockholm syndrome.
    Bladestorm lets you spin around like a carnival ride and do damage. Not using it is almost like having a move called Confetti Rocket Power Leap and saving it for "emergencies"

    Nope, optical wire, or whatever they call it.... gonna go back into game and see if i can get on with things. If it gets worse after every expansion then i hope there won`t be anymore, otherwise i`ll never beable to accept a quest to start with.......

    How many expansions are there and what are they called ??

    Do they come with the free download/update, or do i have to go out and buy them ??

    The "expansions" are already there and you downloaded them with the main game. They just added the Tideborn race and their area.

    Edit; it helps to just avoid the rubberbanding by keeping a fair distance away from NPCs, not jumping on them, ad avoiding any kind of steep slope. Stupid but it helps.

    If you're playing the game you've already updated to the current expansion.

    Also if you start rubberbanding stop and tap one of your W,A,S,D keys and just wait a second. The more you try to move while rubberbanding the worse it gets, so just relax and wait about 2-3 seconds and it'll stop.

    Ok i just logged back into game, still could`nt get out the east gate (although i think it should have been the north gate as its in the north district), anyways tried to go over the mountain/hill slightly to south of that gate and no joy there, infact as soon as i jump it just chucks me back again to where i started.

    Managed to get via the south gate but only because i had to drop of the ridge into the water where you first find those tortoise`s, got to near the small outpost enroute to the walled stronghold and it started allover again, throwing me back over and over again....

    Don't know what to tell you, it's really just bad programming in the client. You seem to be having more of an issue with than most. What're your graphic settings and your graphics card?

    Try using your "Town Teleport" skill, and see if after you have teleported, you still have major Rubberbanding. Might work :)

    best fix for rubberbanding be to get on a flying mount.
    but you has to be level 30 to get the free one

    LOL.... im only lvl11, it`s going to be a looong time before i can get my free flying mount, as for my graphics, i don`t think that should be a cause to the problem.... why ?... because i`ve been on since around 8am GMT (currently now 21:03pm) and everything has been fine up until i posted about the problem.

    Just for you though :-

    I`ve put most of my in-game settings on to medium, not a bad little system considering i have had it over 4yrs.

    OK this i definatly aint understanding, i just logged in on my mates PC, no difference with system specs etc and he`s getting a big fat 0 in lag or stuttering..... so what exactly is going on.

    I think im gonna have to re-install the whole game.... another 3.3Gb i`ll have to pay for :(

    Right, as of late lastnight (GMT Time), ive completely removed every file and folder PWI places on your PC when d/l`ing and installing and re-downloaded the entire thing, ive verified the files and installation twice and everything game-wise is up to date.

    I have, from reading another thread on a similar problem, now double checked my GFX drivers are up to date and my DirectX, also checked sound and my OS for any updates too.... everything is now at the latest versions, i have logged back into game and everything so far seems to be playing fine. I havent changed the game settings, except for the `zoom` as i can`t deal with scrolling out to `zoom` in, just drives me nuts.

    Time will tell if this has worked, as i stated prior, i was fine allday yesterday up until around 4-5pm GMT then it all started going pear-shaped. On a more positive note, i would just like to say great game im loving it except for the `rubber banding`, and to apologise if it seems like im whining/ranting/raving.... i know, i know it`s a free game so what should i expect... so im sorry if this whole thing seems to have gotten out of proportion.

    Hopefully i might see some of you in-game and maybe someday run a few raids/instances together !!
