Critical Build

So after I read many builds people post on the forum, Pure Mag Build, Light Build, HP Build, even Heavy Build, I decided to create a thread saying my kind of build.

Critical Build
Stats
Every two levels add:
6 Mag
3 Dex
1 Str
(Note: You can stop adding Dex until you feel like you have enough Critical)
Reason:

Wizards are a class of damage, we deal a lot of damage and kill a monster with 3/4 hits, so obviously, any DD wizard would like a little extra damage, with critical, which doubles our damage we'd kill a mob with 2/3 hits maximum, besides Dex also adds evasion and with some evasion shards we could easily evade most Barbarians and even some blademasters' attacks. I've experienced it and I evaded most of the Blademaster's attacks and killed him. And although I'm only Lv. 32 with this build I'd say it's a good one for me.
So tell me your opinion please.

Well, just my own opinion, but if it's Criticals you're after, I'd try a Light Armor Build: 3 Mag, 1 Dex, 1 Str per level. You get a pretty decent crit ratio, as well as some armor that has a balance between Physical and Magical Defense. ^_^ It's what I use, and I love it! Just find a build that matches your play-style, and I'm sure you'll do fun.

Take care, and have fun! ^_^

Yeah, it's me. Don't read to much into it, though; I'm only here for myself now, killin' time and chillin' when need-be. So sue me. Tch...

So, every 2 levels you have one extra dex over a light mage. That's 50 extra points by level 100, which would equate to 2...maybe 3% extra crit (If you had 10-19 points of dex on armor). But you are still in robes rather than light gear.

Right? You would be taking the damage reduction of a light armor mage, the physical armor reduction of a robe mage, all for 2-3% crit? Doesn't seem worth it.

(of course, i blow at math. could have made a mistake.)

At lower levels this should be even more apparent, right? At 32 you only have an extra 16(ish) dex more than a light armor build...not even good for one extra percent. The evasion is nice, but I bet LA evades a lot at your level too, but can actually take a hit if they don't.

I have to agree with Andromeda. You know how wizards are already gimped from lack of phys def. Well your crit build will make you a gimp both physically and magically.

I used ecatomb.net to just find out what the base attack of that build would be for a lvl 64 Wizard. And this is what I got - M. Attack 1874-2210. That's with Ancient Arbor equipped.

The 2 other acceptable builds with Ancient Arbor and nothing else equipped.

    Full Int - M. Attack 2448-2886
    Light Armor - M. Attack 1867-2202

Now I know that your Crit build and LA have about the same atk pwr BUT light armor actually has survivability, unlike your Crit build. Plus with LA you are only 1% crit less than your crit build at lvl 64(4% VS 5%).

So I think you would be better off with a light armor build.

Oh and I chose lvl 64 because that's what lvl my Wizard is on Sanctuary. XD

I guess you people are right.
But I hate Light Armor and I love crit.
So I wanted to share my opinions, that's all.

I think that's what people are really getting at here: Light armor *is* crit. The build you've outlined only adds one or two crit percentage, which gets less and less meaningful the higher you go (going from 1% - 2% doubles your crit rate, but 14% -15% is less dramatic).

If you like crit and big chance spike damage, LA should be right up your ally without any compromise. You should actually like it a lot more.

So lets say you go with this build up too 80th. Your stats would look like this:

Str: 44 ( armor requirement for Arcane )
    Vit: 5
    Agi: 120 ( Crit % is based on multiples of 20 )
Mag: 246 ( mind you the minimum for magic weapon for level 80 is 240 Mag )

So you would just squeek by and gain 7% crit bonus ( not counting rank items and crit % equips )

The next level that would add 1% Crit would be 94th.

This seems to be an extreme edge build but hey...who am I too argue. By the time you hit 99th there are a bunch of +Crit items to choose from. Relying on that though through all the levels previous would be a pain. Personally if I were to build like this I'd wait until about 90th and restat.

something that i personally dislike about being light armored, or in this case, built for more criticals, is that you don't have that evasion an archer has. you have slightly higher physical defense and a lot lower magic defense(+20%~ to physical res, -20~30% from your magic). magic still hits fairly hard to robes users, but now getting hit that much harder?

a friend of mine tried out a light armor build, this is what we observed:

he does not do enough damage to be able to take out a barbarian(then again, 1v1ing a barbaraian is nonsense anyways).

he takes, what use to be a pinch, that is now a kick in the face from elemental damage. we tested it: matching sets(hh70, hp gems socketed), he took over 1,400 damage from my great cyclone. plume shot went from doing 1.5k to his squishy robes down to 900-1k(so in actuality, he can still die to it, but i wouldn't waste my time spamming it).

he tried out his blade tempest, fully maxed to his level(76), and hit ~1,500 on me. that's suppose to be the "robe killer". my ult hit him for over 2,200(but he had roughly 2,300 hp :/).

and finally, he hated having to rely on a cleric giving him a +magic attack buff just to be able to do his quest in a timely fashion.

    he restatted this morning.

Bull****, I'm LA and I hit over 2k EASILY on any robe near my level. And last time I tempested a lv80+ light armor user it did 1.8k. Either he's lying about haxing BT max for his level or he's using a lv50 weapon, lol.
Wondering how much longer these **** packs are going to be around.
