which gives more vit to archers, citrine gems or primeval stones?

primeval stones FTW go to pwi calc and try it out. first a primeval gives more hp but also more phys def and elemental resistance so it is way better then citrine gemsb:victory

its 15 more hp for nearly 2x the price. its 115 hp vs 130 (13 per vit x 10), the pdef/mdef bonus is so miniscule, youd hardly notice a difference. be realistic :P

The defense from a vit stone is not at all miniscule.. every 10 vit gives something like +1% equipment defense (not really sure).

For archers thats like 40 defense and 40 resistance at endgame, thats kinda like 3 shards in one:

vit stone = citrine gem + immaculate garnet + immaculate sapphire

Vit stones also give more hp regeneration as a cool side effect.

citrine gems give 0 vit, primeval stones give 10 vit.

    Quoted for truth.

also, anyone have an opinion on steady defense vs primeval?

or primeval vs Garnet Gem on weapon.

I'm pretty sure steady defense > primeval as long as you have sufficiently high HP. (I think somewhere I seen it was 6k unbuffed)

Primeval is no where near as good as garnet gem.

Primeval is no where near as good as garnet gem.

if your natural hp (henceforth, N) would make it so the dmg reduction gained from # def shards makes your defacto hp max higher than # citrine gems would, defense shards are better.

    defense lvl
100% - 2(#)% = the % of dmg you take with def lvls

if (100% - 2(#)%)(N + 115(#) is smaller than N (your normal HP is higher than your cit sharded hp multiplied by the % of dmg you take with shard reduction)

i'll work on this some more whe i have time

I could not follow your math.

basically, it all means def shards become more useful than hp shards when the dmg they reduce makes your defacto hp higher than citrine gems would. simply put, if i can shard 40 def lvl, i would take only 60% of any dmg inflicted. when my natural hp is higher than 60% of the hp i would have with citrine gems, def lvl would be better.

Thats not 100% true. If I have 10k hp and 25% damage reduction, my event potion heals me 3500 HP over 10 seconds , where I have a "defacto" hp of 12.5k. However, if I have 8928 hp and 40% damage reduction, my "defatcto" HP is still ~12.5k, but my potion heals me for 3500. My sources of healing that scale with my HP are equivlant to each other (charms, TOP, ect) , but the ones that are fixed(Cleric heals, potions, ect) benifit the person with higher defense more, since the HP healed also gets the benifit of the higher defense. (Those numbers where just made up to prove a point)

Primevil stone vs Jade of steady defense.

    Is about give or take:

    130 HP + 40 p def + 40 m def vs 2% dmg reduction.

So, going by the "defatco" HP thing, 2% will be the same as 130 HP when you have 6500 HP unbuffed. The slight defense bonus you get is good, but the more you put into defense, the less you get out of it.I'd image at levels where you could use steady defenses, the defense you'd get from 24 vit stones may help you by maybe 7-8% tops, the more you put in the less you get out defense wise. So, factoring in the defense thing, Also, its harder to refine for defense than HP, especially in magic and phys together. I'd say after you're in the 6.5k-7k hp range, start throwing +2 defense stones into your high grade gear. Odds are if you can afford this stuff, you should leave your g13+ gear open for the defense stones.
