So my point is, are clerics actually fun people who are fun for the game???THANK YOU to whoever responds!b:victory

A good cleric knows when to atk & when to heal. But for the most part, Yes you will be healing.
I find it fun being the "good" cleric; it's harder compared to being a DD & just autoatking most of the time.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Healing is hard. Its not like to press one button. I attack, debuff and heal, when im on my cleric char. And you need to use much skills not only IH.0 -
Clerics aren't 100% support. They have very decent attack skills and powerful curses as well. Deciding when to play support, attack or even stand still is what makes Clerics hard to play. Once you get to know how to get things done right the only problem you'll ever have will be when you have clueless squad mates... They always blame the Cleric for their own stupidity![SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I totally agree with this. But their attacks are not just "decent" clerics are very powerful if they are built/played right. They have the most skills (mag & phys attack, buff, debuff) so it is sometimes difficult to decide which skills to use in which order, at what time, etc. It can be argued that clerics are the most self-sufficient class, but only after level....60 I would say. When questing by yourself, a good tip (taken from the PWI wiki) is to always make sure you are buffed and make sure to heal yourself, because clerics tend to die easily if these things are not done.0 -

i belive theres 3 parts in cleric gameplay
1. solo playing: for PvE you will have a bunch of attack skills but will mostly rely on the basic 2, plume shot and cyclone. you got a heavy nuke and a few AoE attacks, besides that 4 debuffs 2 of wich you can use to save yourself and 2 if you want to deal a bit more damage. you have buffs to increase defence, damage and hp/mp regen these things makes your timep playing go faster and smoother. did i mention you will have 2 usefull heals that makes you
2. squad gameplay: most common thing in this category is boss killing, depending on boss you will either be focusing on healing/purifying or healing+debuffing/attacking. you will mostly be in the back wathing your team mates hp and status alligenments. in squads not killing bosses or elite mobs you will do the same thing as in solo playing (PvE) with the eception you got a few other ppl to heal and buff
3. squad DD: in cases where a squad got 2 or more clerics the higher lvl will be attacking whatever the tank is hitting..
i find clerics fun to play, it was a bit hard to go through during the lvl50-ies due to a small budget and at that time only 2 half usefull attack skills, luckily these lvls went over fast with the 4 and 4x tideborn quests and dailies.0 -
You will be doing more healing in FB/BH depending on how you see things. You will get the odd time to attack not using you high damage skill like wield thunder or tempest.Looking for a decent casual understanding Faction.0

There is plenty of good advice here about playing cleric, mine 2 cents are:
1) pay attention: things happen from time to time, people happen quite often, and you must see whats going on and react pretty fast
2) remember you must live. as long as you are up you can res everyone else and everything will be ok. when you die, there is a very high chance everyone else will die too, and soon.
When you got that down you _just_ need to learn when to*:
1) heal: usually when someone gets hit :P
2) attack: soloing - obviously, in party - when you have time for it
3) buff: at the beginning, and when buffs go down
4) debuff: in party to increase damage dealt or to hold target in place, solo - seal things to run away
5) other skills: revive dead ppl, purify damage over time or debuffs, boost party with rb, shield yourself or others from harm...
b:chuckle
Before you panic at so many skills and roles: dont worry. At the beginning you mostly solo things, so only attack and heal anyway. Other skills you will learn as they come, so there is a high chance using them properly wont be really a problem either ^.^
*) 'how to' and exceptions to general rules are worth separate thread and not really useful for beginner either, when you get to a point you do have some choice in what skills to use in any situation then browse this forum for discussions about 'stream of rejuvenation vs ironheart blessing' or 'chormatic seal: useful at all?' b:laugh[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Another little tip...
Set shortcuts in the key configuration to quickly target your squad members. That way you can cycle them and heal much faster than you would otherwise by clicking them under the squad menu. In tougher fights, time is one luxury you won't have, so be prepared to switch your attentions from the tank mid-fight to keep everyone topped up.
A cleric who only heals the tank either doesn't know their job well enough or lacks the confidence to pull it off.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
What do you use plus how do you heal yourself as when I don't look at my char panel my hps will be down?I would much prefer if we were included in the squad window to see my hpsLooking for a decent casual understanding Faction.0

how to do this? to heal faster, i always button-pressing the skills, but still mouse-clicking the squad members. But I want to do this just like you said, clicking skills and button-pressing the squad members, and i never find on how to to that. b:sad0 -

Holding down shift and a number 1-5 (number based on a person's place in squad) will target another member. You can probably change it to whatever you like by pressing K to configure your hotkeys.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

This. And Shift + F-key lets you use the genie skill in the appropriate position. Quite handy for if you need to expel a squad member while keeping heals up on a different one or the like.0 -

One huge downside with the way the game is designed, however, means there's no quick method for self-targeting. Seems a bit of an oversight considering so many skills require it, but I digress. For stuff like that you can just hit ESC until you lose all targets, at which point any skill is automatically self-cast. Of course, with your shortcuts set, its only a matter of one keypress to get your tank targeted once more, and back in business.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
very informative thread.. never knew abt the shift+number thing..
thx0 -

One of the things I note as I've leveled up and become more involved with squads is, while battling this boss or that, the tank and DDs are always chatting back and forth. As a cleric, I never have TIME to type in chat! I'm too busy watching everyone's health and watching to purify and trying to slip in a debuff of my own and maybe slip in a Plume or something all while worrying about my own HP and MP. It can be hectic so if you think you're just gonna get bored 'cuz you're just gonna be spamming IH, that isn't going to happen in my experience."Imagination is more important than intelligence."0

They can attack....Lvl up to 59-60 and you will see what I mean!
But as someone says before, healing is hard! How hard can it be to revive your dead members when tank is attacked and lose his health?
Supporting squad require a bit of practice.
PS:Sorry for my bad english!I hate idiots, but I'm forced to stay near them!0
