Title says enough.

Whats better for a Sin? Garnet, for more Phys def, or Citrine for more HP?
And why?

Early levels, I used amber (or w/e the evasion ones were). Not getting hit at all was better when facing mobs that only used physical attacks, and my dex wasn't high enough to make my evasion stat matter on it's own.

After mid 30's, I tried out citrines vs garnets, and found I liked garnets better. Just seemed to have better survivability.

Later levels, when most mobs/bosses use mag atk only, or coupled with phy attacks, I do a mix. Garnets and sapphires for the main armor, and citrines in the cape and helm.

There's only one boss that does only magic that I can think of and it's the last boss in FB39. You shouldn't be taking hits from bosses anyways. 90 if not 95% of the mobs do melee up close.

Garnet if PvE, citrine if PvP.

citrine is the way to go. refine a pdef orn for more pdef and you'll be good

I mix them...usually a citrine stone though. I find that the extra HP helps when AoE bosses decide to fire off. Usually those hit hard, garnet shards or not.
For those times when *facepalm* and *headdesk* just aren't enough, I present...*brickhead*...painful, effective, and guaranteed to make you forget why you hit yourself in the first place.

You can add some garnet during lower lvls for pve. Its pretty helpful when you grind mele mobs. Should also use Phy def neck + Phy def belt for pve.

However stacking garnet is really only useful around lvl 40-70 or so. After that you wont take much mele dmg in pve anyway since you can control the mob with stuns and have bloodpaint. Over all its really better to focus on getting higher hp since it helps against all types of attacks.

Range LA users like archers should never touch garnet tho, but they never have to tank mobs in mele range in pve like sins.

Endgame 95-100+ gear go for Defense x2 stones or 10 vit, if you're rich b:chuckle. Around 80/90+ just get like g7/g8 citrine shards.

garnets. as much as possible. and refine pdef ornaments. we are a LA melee class, so we need the pdef. dont worry about mdef since sins eat casters.

this guy has no idea what he is talking about lol... some mages and venos have way more pdef than you think, so no... we don't eat them. pls gtfo, citrine is the way to go past lvl 60. if you want to tank, go reroll a fist bm/ HA fist sin.
