As a cleric using your weapon is totally skill based. You should have a skill called Plume Shot from level 1 in one of your hotbars. Use the skills to use your wand like the magical instrument it is. The attack (swords) button is just for melee attacks.

Also you can see what skills you have by hitting "r" or "alt+r" that opens your skill list. There is also down in the bottom right corner of that window a "skills >>>" link that you can see what other skills you can look forward to getting- including magical attacks!!

    Hope this helps.

ok well i know what a plume shot is but all i do when holding the wand is just that i hold it and use plume shot.... i seem to be missing something here.

I have a 21 cleric too and people were o.0 that i never owned a weapon or used one for that matter... but i totally screwed up my attribute points and was getting killed at every mob so i started over and thought i would by a wand just to see how to use the darn thing... but im just holding it and using plume shot or i beat them over the head with it... it says its attack range is 3.0 but how do i attack with it like that?

The wand increases your magic attack. You can plume without a wand but your plume will be extremely weak compared to when you plume with a magic-based weapon. It may not appear to have much a function but it does boost your stats.

What do you want it to do, sing you a song? Read the description of the weapon you weild. What it says is what it does.

Do not beat mobs with it. If you want to beat mobs with your weapon then reroll as a BM or Barb.

A wand increases the power of your attacks, as do all the other weapons. You have magical weapons (which you should be using) and you have melee weapons.
If you use plume shot you'll only see that you're holding the wand and use plume shot. The same goes for all the other attacks you have.

You can see what a weapon exactly does when you read the discription. The only thing you have to do is keeping your weapon updated (get the highest one you can get) and click your skills and you'll be fine.

The best thing you can do for your stats is look in one of the guides, which should give you enough information to play the game.

Basically think of your wand as a means to channel your magic, but the actual skill does not require it. Some of the animations will look like you are using the wand, while others like plume shot will not. When i'm cleric'ing I just thing of it as an amplifier for my magic, since that's what it does anyway - add damage ^^

Are you doing alright with your cleric otherwise?

You might want to get the magic sword out of the supply box and it is good at your lvl and we don't use auto attack only assist attack cross swords.

weapons for a magic class like a cleric is mostly for show because all your major attacks are magic not melee. if you look at your wand you will see it gives more magic att than physical all the weapon is doing is boosing your magic att so that your plume shot, whirlwind, and wield thunder do more damage. when you get in the higher lvl the weapon will also give channeling and crit depending on the weapon the other effects very.

girl, magic users like clerics never actually physically attack the boss unless their desparrate.
good magic wepons (like the ones from your supply stash which you get start-game) can boost your magic attack greatly

Seems the OP is an ex "game that shall not be named" addict. Yeah, as others have stated, you need to actually use a skill, as opposed to "auto-attacking" with a wand as you've obtained. Plume shot and at level 5 you get Great Cyclone, so those will be your main method(s) of attacking for a while.

And since you are relatively new, only use Blessing of the Purehearted (first healing skill) until you get Ironheart Blessing (IH). IH is a clerics' most used (and arguably the most versatile) healing skill, even up to end game levels.

Hope this helps, and good luck. Don't be afraid to ask anytime here, as except for a few trolls, everyone is (usually) willing to help.

Yeah, it does sound like that. A wand in PW is just another melee weapon and stat stick, not a ranged weapon that does x amount of elemental damage. Although in WoW, it didn't do much by itself either - you had to use "Shoot" from your spellbook to utilize it. Not like it was much help in WoW other than a stat stick either. b:laugh

uhm, did you really restart your cleric at a low level because you die too much? I'm not being mean, but maybe you should give up on clerics, or learn how to die with some grace at low levels. Your heal sucks until you get IronHeart, and even then survival is hard at best when you solo.

Choice 2? Marry a barb or bm
