Really sick of my Glacial Walker!

I was excited when the expansion came out because I was going to get an Ebony Hellduke.
But when you catch the guy he turns into that ugly Seamonster Guardian and it looks nothing like the Hellduke.
So I settled for a Glacial Walker but I am so sick of him.
He moves so slow and I do not like the looks. Others do, I don't.
I want a faster moving pet with a demon/undead/monster look that won't totally gimp me.
Iceprison Wraith moves pretty fast but he takes more damage and it looks like he's ranged.
Dark Wanderer looks pretty cool and moves faster.
I think another is called Cragrock Warrior but I can't tell how fast he moves.
I know that Kowlin is pretty much the fastest pet short of the Phoenix but it's rare and usually expensive. At least too expensive for my blood.
Any others that I should consider?

Well when I have the herc I'll just settle for the fact that it is insanely OP...
And I'm going to be stuck farming coin for months to get the herc so I want to do it with something faster and cooler looking lol.
Seems like Dark Wanderer is the way to go!0 -
My DW with claw gives me about 1/3 more dd than my Herc w/o applied skills. -Herc isn't always best.Be kind: Help the GMs to depopulate the servers.0

As if a herc is a drop or normal spawn that you can just catch. Even the so-called "rare" pets are effectively non-existent for some of us.
Not everyone is willing to pay for an MMO"RP"G. We could be playing P2P games if we were :-)Slow progress, game is getting way too grindy :-( Quests I still hope to be able to do some day: FB39, General Feng0 -

It doesn't help to have a negative attitude. I have herc, nix, most sage skills, decent gear, many rare skills on common pets, and I don't put cash into this game.Be kind: Help the GMs to depopulate the servers.0 -

I agree that it does not help to have a negative attitude, but it is more than a little hypocritical when a person keeps making posts that minimize the difficulty of acquiring a herc when they themselves likely got one back in the day when a herc could be purchased for as little as 20 million or so. Prices have changed in case you have not noticed, including the game dynamics.
Getting a herc as a casual player who may not wish to spend RL money is not an easy task, one which some people seem intent to minimize for the sake of their own bravado and posturing. Negative attitudes do not help, I agree, but being realistic and appreciating the difficulty of getting a herc without cash shopping would show greater respect for those that do not have one.0 -

Ya I looked at the posts about getting one.
It costs about 180g-190g to get one.
On my server 1g = 400K-450K coin
So on my server it'll cost over 80M coin.
And I still haven't even bought a faster flying mount.
0.5 flight sucks...
So while it is possible to get one without spending money, it's going to take a long time.
So in the meantime it looks like I'll be using the pale man on the dark horse. b:scorn0 -

Getting the herc is the equivalent of:
Getting 2 pieces of tt99 gear
OR
Getting 1 lunar gold weapon
OR
Getting HALF of a tome up and down
OR
Getting a level 5 tome
OR
Getting 2 gold frost weapons
OR
Selling 150 GBAs
OR
Selling 400 BH wines for 150k each.
OR
Selling 12000 mid mats
OR
Selling 1000 Ult Subs
OR
Selling 15000 DQ items to the NPC
So I am sure we all know how hard it is to get an herc in-game. Nobody said it was going to be easy, after all, you are trading YOUR TIME for an item that cost RL money.
If you do not want to spend the time, you can always use the RL money.Too often we loose sight of life's simple pleasures. Remember, when someone annoys you, it takes 42 muscles in your face to frown, BUT, it only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and slap that mother#$@%#^! upside the head.0 -
Um...Firecrag Walker?

This has been hashed out. There's more coin available in game -> quicker coin acquiring. There's also a lot of reduced expenses since then on other things. I'm sure the effort required is about the same.Getting a herc as a casual player who may not wish to spend RL money is not an easy task, one which some people seem intent to minimize for the sake of their own bravado and posturing. I can do without the so called casual gamer (leveled mostly by dailies and leeches off others). I didn't say what I had to brag, just to indicate that it isn't necessary to pay cash as some would have us believe. There was a player that used to post here that was incredibly better than me at acquiring coin.Be kind: Help the GMs to depopulate the servers.0 -

Herc just has better survival for the most part and can leash it out.I like to think that I bought my Herc so I do a the best Pet in the game which I do.Originally Posted by Yindra - Sanctuary View Post

Actually, Reclusive Spikewing drops hercs sometimes.

You might be able to kill one when the next expansion comes out, if you are in the right faction.0 -

Same amount of effort?...for cash spenders yes, considering the higher value of gold, ...otherwise no. No amount of money floating in the economy makes a difference on how expediently an individual can grind out in-game coin. More money floating in the economy will however affect using the catshop or AH to one's advantage. Unfortunately, more money in the economy has coincided with higher supply which has meant modest fluctuations in prices (NOT considering the boutique items), certainly not sufficient to compensate for the discrepancy between a 20 million herc and a 70 million herc. Thus, selling drops will not compensate for that 50 million coin difference. And as for reduced expenses, Venos have always been able to neglect their gear, at least until the higher levels (or unless they are keen to pvp hard core) so that has not changed either. The same amount of effort?.... only if you are cash shopping otherwise, not even close.I can do without the so called casual gamer (leveled mostly by dailies and leeches off others). As someone who works two jobs and goes to school full time with a social life on the side, I definitely consider myself a causal gamer..... stereotyping an entire group of as you have does not reflect well on your intellect. Like many other "casual gamers", I only do BH when I want to infuse exp into my genie; when I run out of quests; or when I find myself unable to do any quests without assistance. I also give away far more money and items than I receive as I very much enjoy helping others. I do not believe that it is necessary to pay cash for a herc either, but those who repeatedly minimize the difficulty and/or frustration that others experience in trying to acquire a herc without cash shopping are only posturing about their own achievements. Critical understanding and empathy will go a lot farther in building positive rapport and supporting others.0 -

I got my nix from just grinding and selling TT mats. I payed a total of 70 million coins for it, and yes it does take some time. However, for that time spent I got an insanely good DD pet. My tactic was to just grind on the 86 Aphedelic Rider Generals around 1k streams. And bought 100-200 feathers at the time over a period of about 2 months. Its not HARD to get a nix or herc. Its just frustratingly time consuming, if youre low on patience. No I dont have a herc, I AM the herc! b:mischievous

I gave detail to the specific group that does fall under that category: not stereotype. Every one can be stupid at times, you're just an idiot. Please flame back. b:chuckleBe kind: Help the GMs to depopulate the servers.0 -
Hate to say it, but I gotta agree with tweakz on this one. If anything, getting a herc has gotten easier, not harder. Getting it via grinding has gotten harder. But acquiring the coin needed to buy the gold needed to get one by other means has gotten easier.
When you talk about the effort needed, keep in mind that the addition of various leveling aids (mainly bounty hunter, but also oracles, cheap shards, etc) means that for the same effort, you are now much higher level than you would've been if you'd started playing back when hercs were 20 mil. The time you've spent getting your character to level 80 now probably wouldn't even have gotten it to level 60 back then. So when complaining about things like how little TT mats now sell for, consider that if we were back in the days when TT mats cost over 1 mil and hercs were 20 mil, you wouldn't even be high enough level to open the lowest level TT instance in the first place.
I'd say the amount of effort needed is about the same as before, if not less. My first herc (~24 mil) took about 1.5 months of saving. A second one I bought for a friend (~70 mil) took about a month. At this point if I wanted to buy a third (~75 mil) I could probably finance it in 2-3 weeks. (My income is mostly from merchanting so is independent of my level. If anything, my higher level character sucks up more money for equipment and skills. The amount of coin needed to learn all the level 92 skills is just sick.)0 -
My personal favorite is my current pet, which is a Scorpion-tail Voodooist0
