Suddenly can't use my weapon or skills

I just hit level 25, went to my trainer and purchased a few skills, allocated some more Attribute points, and then headed out to work on some quests. That's when I noticed that all of my skills (on my hot bar) were greyed out! I thought I might be bugged, so I logged out and back in, but that didn't work. Then I realized that my equipped weapon was red (not useable)!

This is a weapon I've been using for many levels and now it's showing that I need 55 points in Magic...and I only have 54!! WTH!? Is this right? Do the requisites on already equipped weapons/gear change as you level??

So then I tried unequipping it and my skills are still greyed out. So basically I can't do anything right now! Can you really not fight at all without a weapon equipped? Or am I bugged or something?

If it's not a bug, then I suppose my only options are to buy a different weapon, or pay to reset my points? Although, I doubt I can afford the latter. I haven't checked the price on that yet, but I did a quick Google search and saw a lot of comments saying that it's really expensive. So I wanted to check here first before I spend any money...

    We need some more information to know.
    What class are you?
    What are your current stats and level?

    Check all your gear to make sure none of it is broken. If you had a piece of gear which was giving you a +magic bonus and it broke, your magic could have fallen below the minimum requirements for your weapon. Go reapair it at a npc shop if you find out its been broken. Also make sure your weapon hasn't been broken either.

    Also, there is a lot of leeway in how you build your character. But its typically advisable for magic classes that you put in a minimum of 3 magic each level, and 1 strength every 2 levels to ensure you can use the highest level gear for your class. If you're using a magic weapon at level 25, I'm assuming you're a magic class, and your magic should be sitting somewhere near 80, and not 55.

    As far as resetting your points go, you're still a low level and shouldn't need to, unless your made a big mistake. You can always compinsate for it later by skipping adding points to certain skills you put too much into and putting them into the more lacking ones. Also, which class are you?

    Attribute Points: Vit. 40 / Mag. 54 / Str. 20 / Dex. 31

    How bad is that? Do you think I should just try to correct them as I continue to level, or should I reset?

    None of my equipment (including my weapon) is broken. I keep that repaired on a regular basis. But I think I figured out what the problem is...

    I didn't realize that the stats on gear/equipment actually added to the Attribute Points. I thought they were just additional bonuses! So...I did replace my belt and I don't remember what it was (or the stats) but I'm betting that's where I lost my Magic points and got messed up. Unfortunately I already sold it. Grr! :(

    Anyway, I've equipped a new weapon. The only one I could find on the Auction House that I could actually use is a level 5 Sphere. That really sucks, but at least I can use my skills now. I really can't believe that you can't fight without a weapon equipped...that's crazy! I've never seen that in an MMO before. I'm really going to have to be careful in the future that I don't **** up like this again. :(

    Problem here is your Dex stat. Unless your wearing light armor, it's generally not a good idea for casters to put points into dex. You should be fine for now, but once you can afford it, you should look into buying a reset note and sticking those points into mag. That'll help you use higher lvl magic equipment, as well as increasing the amount of mp you have, and upping your damage.

    To get a reset note, you either have to buy gold with real money, or save up to buy one with in game coin. You probably won't have enough to do this for awhile unless you do hard core merchanting or farming though.

    Also remeber this!

    One day you have all items lit up and not greyed out and the next day you decide to change armor not realizing that some of your eq had bonus stats which gave you the points to handle a weapon and such!

    It happens to the best of us when not paying atention to what we are actually wearing that gives us that extra bonus in our stats before we actually gain a level and put points elsewhere.

    Then after we place these stats behold the weapon is greyed out and such dued to replacing that bonus stat in other eq and such. Now our stats dont match the stats required for such armor or weapon we are currently wearing or the skills and such.

    I hope this explains a little of such greyed out areas on weapons and such!
