Light/Arcane Stories - Cleric

I've been poring over the forums for quite some time regarding the advantages/disadvantages of going with a light armor build vs. an arcane build and I'm still divided on the subject. I've read arguments over stat points ad nauseam, but what I haven't been able to find are real experiences from clerics who chose light armor. If you've got a situation you or someone you know has experienced, can you please post it here?
I'm currently an arcane/vit build with 75 base vit. I have hopes of regularly pking while still participating in TW as a catapult squad cleric. Another key activity that I've been considering light armor for is Rebirth - Delta squads. I've yet to do Warsong, so I really don't know what to expect for that, but if you can provide some personal experiences for these, then that'd be greatly appreciated. For those who are not light armor and still do these activities effectively, could you post your experiences as well?
I'd like to stress again that I'm not interested in nit-picking over stat points; similar stats matter little compared to quality of character control skills necessary to utilize those stat points. Unless you've got something relatable to clerics that doesn't focus around argument over insignificant numbers, then I don't care.

the pdef would be nice along with the crit. But if your going as a cata cleric your gonna be mostly healing which the arc/vit build would make you better off. There are other ways to stack the pdef needed as an arc/vit build.
Lunar rings / endgame capes with pdef / garnet sharding
Also using pdef ornaments with a good hat with pdef should get you nearing 30-40% res.
I was LA till 70 then switched over to arc/vit. Seeing as there are other ways to get the pdef was my main concern. I havent done lunar/RBs as an LA cleric yet but couldnt really see much of a problem...
from what ive been told arcane is the way to go at 80+. Unless your going for PVP/pking then demon/LA is better off.0 -
based on my experience, LA survived longer in PvP than AA. If u want to be a Cata Healer, better take LA Sage, for constant (although smaller) heal and support, and better survival since cleric/cata healer is the main target in territorial war for archer and wizard. At least u will not be 1 hit killed by both archer and wizard.
But if you want to be a PvE healer, or solo cleric, better take AA than LA. In TT, especially, AA with some HP (around 5,5k barb buffed ) is enough for TT 2-3, and u still have decent heal. To solo, AA have higher damage and kill mob fast enough before the mob kills you/you need to heal yourself.0 -
As it happens, I'm Drakva's in-game wife. He forgot to mention that he's a 94 Demon Cleric. Hope this helps some. Aishi.teru, love.0

more def or more dd
pvp cleric or pve cleric
cause all out spell are base on magic attack.
Crit only effect out dd spells

Sorry for not reading these before.
I'm a level 90 demon cleric in Indonesian PW and have similar build to you. Was have LA build at 80+, got better survivability as Cata Healer, but then i reset my stat to AA since getting tired of being cata healer, and tired being 1 shotted by level 100++ wizard each TW.b:laugh
For Warsong and Rebirth-Delta, i have no experience yet using LA build.
Anyway, if you consider to switch to LA, and still want a decent mag attack, refine your weapon to at least +7 b:victory0 -
You don't have to go light armor for the pdef i have 4.3k pdef which is more then most light armors if you shard your gear right and put some in vit then your going to be fine. In my opinion you are weaker as a light armor because you have lower magic defense and maybe lower magic attack. Also don't forget you have plume shell you only really need to last 11 seconds before you can put it on again which is easy done.0

To me. I would look at the pros and cons of going one or the other although I know more about being hybrid vit/mag AA.
LA pros
slightly higher p def
able to take on more physical mobs at an early lvl
uses less pdef ornaments and shards.
has smaller mana pool which regens to full quicker
it may have lower m attack and heal but makes up in it to cast off twice.
Cons
less mdef
isn't able take on more mag mobs at any lvl
needs mag ornaments and possible shard
has a lower m attack and needs to heal more.
I made up LA cleric on DW it was fun even in the beginning lvls and I did take less damage than say AA would of.When I first made up my cleric as to my avatar I used a combo of aa and la gear.I wore La boots and leggings.I needed to invest points in dex for this.I didn't read any guides at the time as I was just trying the game out so I never bothered with the forums.I didn't know I would be playing this long if it wasn't based in the states.I was sure how you built a cleric but did put points in the appropriate fields as the other rpg I play is more complex.
I just picked up armour droppings and just used them instead of making my own which was a mistake. There were la droppings so I used them.I was mix and match of la/aa as there is lot of la droppings around dreaming stronghold. It wasn't untill after 20 that I started to take the game seriously and I came here and read the guides and asked questions.I guess you can say this is my story although I corrected what was needed and became a vit/mag hybrid AA haven't regretted since even if there are some nice looking LA armours TT80 comes to mind.Looking for a decent casual understanding Faction.0 -

4.3k unbuffed i'm assuming? Thats decent but I still expect a good LA cleric would have ~ 5-5.5k pdef unbuffed.
As somebody else mentioned- LA is probably better for use in TW because you're mostly targetted by EA and nixes.--Retired--

I'mma just quote myself from another thread here:Nowitsawn - Heavens Tear wrote: »Been LA here from 70-80ish (I level at a snails pace, I leveled to 80 about half a year ago b:chuckle), can't say I didn't like it but it's not anything like a superior build either. My survivability went up a bit, my damage/heals went down a bit (noticeable, but nothing severe).
I've never had any flaming going on about my build, probably because the LA that I used was many times better than most archers had at my level and that I could still heal perfectly fine, aswell as take a few hits.
My experiences as LA weren't that much different from AA (I'm not a pvper at all, so can't say much about that). LA didn't particularly HELP me in any activity, as there was almost always a downside to it (for example: higher def, lower attack). From what I can say: going LA doesn't make you better at most things on overall, it just changes your playstyle.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
I am LA since I started and now also demon.
Still not rich enough to buy charm every now and then so TWs dont bother me atm.
But I would like to do RB delta too. I've been told that I need about 7k matk or demon/sage IH so I can heal fast enough there. I can say it's pretty costly to get 7k matk as LA cleric, not talking about IH.0 -

I have 80 base vit and am arcane... I have 4.8 phys. defense unbuffed and 10,600 phys. defense fully buffed with sage bell. I have higher magic defense and phys. defense then my husband who is an archer (wears light armor).
And for the record Ron is one of the best clerics in a TW... and I am not bad myself, LA is not the way to go in my opinion.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
I neglected to mention earlier that I haven't made my 90 armor yet (I've been holding off until I decided whether or not to go with LA) and that I went with demon.
I appreciate the input guys. I think I'll stick with my vit build for now and shard for pdef while refining physical ornaments as I can--seems the most cost-effective way of going about things while still maintaining my play style. The statement that going LA merely changes your playing style was ultimately what pushed me in the direction I chose, and given all that I've read and experimented with on character builders, it seems very likely that this is the case.

.. and I have 5.2k unbuffed b:lipcurl and no i'm not too bad in TW either! b:mischievous
When did I say LA was the way to go? I just said LA was probably better for use in TW than in general game because there you will predominantly get targetted by EA and nixes.--Retired--
