Get lion king axes for Pve/tanking, they help alot and keep the clerics more happy about you. for PVE +3 and 1/2 Flawless shards to your liking in them. Then you can make the souledge for your 90 zerk axes out of those.

Keep the calamity's for PK till 90 zerk axes

That's what i'm doing on my barb. same +5 calamity's with 2 G8 immaculates, lion king axes for TT/FC and will be decomposed for my 90 axes when i hit 90

I personally am sticking with my calams until level 90 as the TT chain either takes me down a bad route but good vit, or takes me down the calloused route and gives only dex and str =/.

As far as clerics hating me, when DDing I switch to heraldry as I help the rest of the group DD and don't lose life doing it, when tanking the cleric shouldn't notice 5% hp loss every once and a while however I do notice my aggro holding ability go up.

I'm personally collecting mats for Giant Ape Axes, they have a nice vit add, but of course you can't manufacture GX with them.

I had Giant Apes+3 for PvE and Calamity +5 for PvP through my 80's... both did a nice job in things like questing, gamma and delta, but I found more and more I started using just my Calamity. With cleric in party the 5% hp loss really isn't noticable at all, even if cleric QQ about using more mp. So boss dies faster too, whats the difference?

In my early 90's I got the 2 gold mats for my TT90 gold zerk axes and just spent 1/2 day in low lvl TT's farming Lion King axes... so wasn't a big deal either way.

As long as you end up with TT90 gold zerk axes, you wil be a good barb for your 90's.

You can be a good barb in 90s without TT90 gold zerk axes, but they are popular. I use a gatherstorm and I don't have many problems.

Funny no one has mentioned the Thunderdeath's for working through your 80's...

They give a nice HP bonus and the +crit rate doesn't hurt either. Fuzzy refined em to +5 and never had a single problem. Its be a nice set of axes that me still equip every once in awhile just for a change from the gx.

Don't see all that many barbs (at least on Fuzzy's server) with the Thuderdeath's but if weighing options for an 80 axe set, they well worth at least considering.

    b:thanks

I'll second Fuzzy's love of the Thunders - though in my case they're +7 with a G10 amber, and I expected 'em to last me through my 90's as well.
Then again, being perfectly honest, that was back when gold Frost HA was an option and I expect my "endgame" to be at 85-ish.

I meant to farm Thunders to use for PvE through my 80s, but I was too lazy and ended up sticking with my calamities.

Currently working on getting my Gx for 90+, thinking about getting a Pan Gu's Giant axe for PvE purposes.

For PvE nothing beats a Gatherstorm, for cata pulling Pan Gu's Giant Axe, and for PvP TT90 gold axes.

Fuzzy has come to realize this about Kephras...

..and sorry to hijack thread a bit but if Kephars think outside the box, Fuzzy curious what his thoughts on Fortess HA vs. Lionheart Plate HA?

edit: assuming Fortress be the Nirvana upgradeable Lunar... me not look at forges for awhile.. is it no TT upgrade for strength Lunar for defence?

GX 90 gold.... yes nice, but OP was asking about 8x weapons...

I wasn't talking to the OP someone else made a comment about pan gu and I was replying to them....And even so I gave him the only 2 weapons (and tt90 gold axes) that I would even worry about upgrading too.

I'd keep those until lvl 90 and then worry about what you want to get then. Getting 80 axes from those isn't a necessary step unless you are gathering for TT90 axes.

I believe it's just Solar Flash that can be Nirvana'd, unfortunately. So Fortress vs Lionheart, Lionheart would be the clear winner. Better adds, you get the set bonus, and the Nirvana option.
Solar flash however, I would dearly love to get my hands on. But if you want my (very silly) reasoning?

    I like white armor b:surrender
The Cascade Glow set is gorgeous.

same here. I personally find the Calamity's to be extremely overrated and even the thunderbolt axes deal more constant damage... So what if the Calamities add 11 vit with a chance to deal double damage at the sacrifice of 5% HP (pretty much one proc removes all HP you gain from that 11 vit). If you solo a hell of a lot like I do, calamities burn hp up in no time.

Mean time I'm using the cudgel of ancient alloy. Seems to be snuffed by a lot of people considering its only going for 100k in AH, but IMO it beats Calamities hands down. Its great for both tanking and solo/squad grinding, with its 2% combined added pdef from the gear bonuses and gloom bonus to boot.

As stated before, I'm going Giant Ape when i farm the rest of the mats, then Star Axes at 90. For 99 I think I'll be going for Monarch Axes if I recall correctly.

I went the same way EXCEPT for 99 I chose
    ☆Unparalleled Brimstone Edges
    [Maximum Physical Attack +142
    Vitality +16~17
    Critical Hit Rate +3%]

WAY better than the Monarch Axes in the tt90 Star Axes chain.
    ☆Monarch Axes
    [Critical Hit Rate +2%
    Accuracy +10%
    Evasion +262]

Sell ur Star Axes in ah & make the 99 gold axes..dont go for Monarch
the only bad thing is that..u'll have to make a whole set of tt60-tt90 weapons in the Beacon Axes chain..in order to manufacture the gold Brimstone Edges..but the mats r CHEAP (including the gold mats of the 99 axes)
Monarch Axes just dont stand anywhere even near to Edges b:thanks

I have a barb at 73 . pve mostly and just go solo alot. atm I am using calas +3 2 G8 garnets.
I have a ancient alloy waiting for me at 79. In thinking of my 9x weapon. I was thinking of getting devil axes (i think thats which one it is, whatever it is that has the meditation proc) for general solo and grind unless i can get a hold of a gatherstorm. So what do you all think of devil axes?

Then for a long time from now, I would make a chaotic impliment -> anchor of chaos -> nirvana.

Like I said I dont really pvp and I'm not in a TW faction so i dont catapull so pan gu's isnt of great need. What do you all think of this path?

I have GXs and TT99 Gold Dual Axes.

GXs = PvP purposes and I conformed into the average lvl 90+ Barb. <____<

TT99 = Good for PvE stuff, hate losing HP killing a mob because of Zerk happening often, which is why I have these.

GXs give Sage Barbs a bit of "spike damage" quality. They make Demon Barbs nukes.
