do they work?

if i put alabaster shard in my wep, will i hit more on wood mobs?

does anyone have confirmation if it works, and then, what wep should i put it into?

will my damage only be magic or still phys with add of magic?

and can i mix with like alabaster and ruby? will i get phys + metal + fire or metal + fire?

or just hot steel?

Each elemental shard adds a small amount of (that element) damage to your normal attacks.

Since it doesn't boost your skill attacks, it is usually considered a waste of time.

But yes, if you like, you can mix shards - and have an attack that does a whole bunch of physical and a tiny bit of two other types.

And yes, the little bits you add are affected by monster elements, so will be particularly (in)effective against some monsters.
But it's a very small amount of damage, the boost (or penalty) won't be huge unless you're using normal attacks with an insane amount of -interval to attack very quickly. (And even then you probably get more out of +physical or +accuracy)

If you do a lot of normal attacks like that, yes, it'd be fine.

A garnet will always be technically better. But if you want, say, a green ring on your wep for style reasons, why not? Go for it.

No. A lot of fist BM's fall into this trap.

Elemental shards only add a set amount of damage. Garnets add to your actual Phys Atk. If you spark and your attack gets multiplied, the boost from the garnet gets multiplied along with it. But the elemental shard remains at its same fixed amount of add-on damage.

Also, the bonus from garnets gets boosted accordingly to your str stat when it's added to your phys attack. So, the actual attack increase is far more than it mentions on the shard itself.
