interest in fist archer build

So i found the fisted archer discussion and found it interesting and maybe something worth trying out to keep me from boredom... question is, how effective is the fist archer build?

I know it enables the archer the ability to go both melee and range which is very interesting but archers unlike BM's wear light armor so you would need a high pdef to tank bosses/ go against melee mobs/players so how effective is it? Do you need high amount of hp as well?
Ive seen fist bms solo TT bosses quite comfortably and Ive seen Cheezedude's video but his gears are well refined...im assuming you need some high refined gear to make the fist archer work as well?

(this is all assuming the 3.33 att speed sparked is achieved to make fist archer work)

I noe not many archers dwell in this but for the few that does...can you share some opinion/experience? thank you

    There really isn't a particular build for a fist archer, you just transfer enough points from dex to str to wear the particular fist/claw. It's a more viable option to start using them at level 95+ for archer because more - attack interval gears becomes available to you. For low level archers, fists shouldn't really be sought after, but not saying you shouldn't go and experiment with it. Most mid level archers do have a set of fist that would not require them to put any more points into str to use it, mainly to deal with melee targets and to build chi, or aggro control for a low level tank. Archer's physical defense is low, so any amount of hp you can get will help (from shards/refines/equipments) and switching over from elemental to physical belts/necklaces will do.

    the only real benefit i can see from using fists at all would be PVE(saves ammo) and when that pesky wizard distance shrinks right on top of u thinking that ur halved dmg will save him. I would not add any extra str to use a fist/claw personally I would just use the highest I had enough str for.

    oh i forgot to add issit stacking up -0.3 interval or -0.4 interval to get 5att/second if ur demon?

    It's getting to 3.33 attacks per second, which is 0.3 seconds per attack. Fists are inherently 0.7 seconds per attack, thus you need -0.4 to reach perma-spark.

    You actually first get permaspark at 4 attacks/sec.

    Demon spark lasts for 15s after discharge.. 15s * 4attacks/s * 5chi/attack = 300 chi

    You only need 0.35 interval to have 4attacks/sec sparked.

    Is the 15s from the time you begin the spark, or the time you are able to attack? Only recently got my demon spark so I haven't tested. Plus I'm too lazy to find a stopwatch.

    I disagree that fists aren't useful at low levels. Actually, they're more useful at low levels, because you can't always keep everything at bay and take no damage until the 60s or so. I still use my fists on 80s melee monsters, if/when they get to me. Other than that, my only use for them at my current level is on MQ bosses (because they'd kill my sad LA'd **** pretty fast at range... particularly Nightspike Strider ._.).

    Does that only apply in your case, though? If I recall correctly, your build at lower levels had a large number of points allocated into Strength and Vitality. Most archers have more dexterity than you did.

    I'm planing on getting Legendary fists of the annihilator [is that what they're called? I can't remember and I'm lazy {common trend in archers, eh?}] just as quick mana regen's on mele mobs. These will also be the first fists I get for my axe BM when he gets enough dext. They seem like the best way to get chi+manna with no pots. 2x spark for Barrage=>out of chi, no winged shell=>still in combat mode=>out of manna. What now? FISTS!! b:laugh

    neway, that's been a fantasy of mine for a while, and since u see so many of said fist's molds in catshops on Raging Tide due to the low% of fist bm's, you can get them for a song.
