Hello PW community, I have just recently downloaded the PW client and made an account so that I can play the game, however, before I begin my PW adventure I have a few questions in mind that I would like to ask players whom have been playing the game longer then I.

These questions are as follows...

-Is the PW community active, friendly, helpful and at least semi-mature?

-How is the gameplay? Is it decent? Fun and semi-friendly to new players, or is there a steep learning curve?

-How are spam amounts and bot populations in PW?

-How is the PvP, if there is any? Is it unbalanced and unfair due to an item shop PW has implemented like most f2p MMO's have?

-Can a "newb" find a guild even at the start of the game, or must you be a higher level to even attempt to join a guild?

These are the basic questions I desired to ask, so well...I did, the rest of my questions I can learn on my own as I begin to play PW for myself.

First of all, welcome to Perfect World International!

Well our community is indeed active, friendly, helpful and most of them are even mature^^

But as one knows, you cant speak for all ppl :D

The gameplay is rather easy-going, nothing too hard, and like most other MMO's out here.

Spam amounts hmm.... well amongside world chat spam, forum trolls... it's as high as in any other game. And bots... so far I never seen one, which doesnt mean there are none.

And ofcourse, there are many, loads of factions who take all levels, only requirement: being active and friendly :)

Hope I answered all your questions well,

    -Silvy

    - With several servers to choose from, you're probably going to end up with decent activity on most of them. The PvE servers are slightly more active than the PvP ones, although Lost City is bristling with activity I hear. The community has it's asshats, but for the most part, there's plenty of friendly and mature players out there provided you ignore the fools.

    - There really is no steep learning curve on this game. The gameplay is easy enough to learn regardless of your class, though naturally some classes will take a bit more focus than others [clerics and barbs, for example]. Once you get the basics of the class down, you're pretty much set. It can get a little bit stale and repetitive at times, but eh, it's not that bad.

    - I personally haven't ran into more than two bots on the game. Spam on world chat is common and frequent, but this can be ignored and you can blacklist particularly annoying people. Apparently, the addition of Perfect Horns has made spam so unbearable and unavoidable that everybody and their mother has to complain about it on the forums, so I don't know if that counts at all.

    - You're going to get mixed answers about PvP. People are going to tell you Venomancers are OP because of Nix, Sins are OP because of stealth. Seriously, you aren't going to get a straight and clear answer here; far too many clashes of opinion. PvP will probably be more fun on a PvP server, but beware the high levels who will find you and kill you in one shot because they can.

    - There are plenty of friendly guilds at there with no or low-level requirements.

Is it hard build a decent character with the stat allocation system (if this game even has one)? For example, if you mess up you are permentaly stuck with the build you have and there is no way to fix it, or is it possiable to respec so you can have a build you truely desire and not a gimpy one?

There are several class guides where you can look up a common skill build, and if you made a wrong decision and messed up your stats late game, you can buy a reset note to reset those points.

What you need to keep in mind is that there are the builds that "conform" to the idea of the class [and these builds also conform to what the majority of players expect from a class] and there are build that break the mold, but can be equally as enjoyable to play.

If you happen to make a build you aren't happy with, it is possible to buy Reset Notes from the boutique, although this will require you to charge real dollars for zen to buy them, or to pay in-game coin to buy a reset note from another player. You are in no way stuck with one build once you make it, but as the options to restat are expensive, you might want to browse around the class forums and read a few of the guides, even if it's just briefly so you get an idea of what you can do with your desired class of choice.

    These questions are as follows...

Active, yes... Friendly - Very, generally. Maturity and friendliness really are generally okay, but it's a game and there are "some" people that have some issues xD.

-How is the gameplay? Is it decent? Fun and semi-friendly to new players, or is there a steep learning curve?
When you first start, it's very easy. It's really questing a lot and meeting new people/joining a faction if ya want ;). As for learning, over time you'll learn a lot about the class you choose.

-How are spam amounts and bot populations in PW?
Bots are nearly non-existent. In my whole time playing so far, I've come accross 1 bot, and that's all. Spamage from actual people over world chat does happen though, but you can turn world chat off ;)

-How is the PvP, if there is any? Is it unbalanced and unfair due to an item shop PW has implemented like most f2p MMO's have?
PvP is quite alive and very active. In any case, it's a "Play to win" game. If you want to be the BEST player, your gonna find it hard to compete against people that do pay hundreds of dollars a month. But generally, you don't have to spend a single dollar to have awesome gear, as long as your ready to work for it.

-Can a "newb" find a guild even at the start of the game, or must you be a higher level to even attempt to join a guild?
Noobs can find factions right away. Many factions accept low lvl players, but some have req. lvls.

These are the basic questions I desired to ask, so well...I did, the rest of my questions I can learn on my own as I begin to play PW for myself.

    Hope that helps ya ;)

Its pretty much been stated before.

If anything, take into consideration of the words the above players have told you, for they're telling the truth. People in the game, for the most part, are extremely friendly and willing to help you out and answer any question that you honestly might have.

The gameplay is pretty cool, there isn't anything that you -can't- do out there. For the lower levels, you'll be questing galore, until about 60. From there you can still quests, but you get to do other activities like BH, TT, RQ, etc. I have yet once to log onto Perfect World and go "omg, there is NOTHING TO DO!" and this is back during the days of Zhen, kiddies :p

As for spam bots? I never encountered one, and if I had, its quite easy to just report and be on your way. If there are bots, usually they don't bother the community of active players unless they're taking kills or whatnot. Don't be afraid to let the GMs know if someone is ruining your gameplay, hun.

Speaking as a veno with a nix, its unbalanced! No, I'm kidding XD You will have to indeed compete with those that spend loads of dough onto the game, if you really care about being on the PvP list that much. Otherwise, its pretty enjoyable, and remember, skill always > gear b:chuckle

Oh man, anyone can find a guild! That's the great thing about PW. You always have a place to be. If you're not comfortable in one guild, there is always something out there that will fit your needs and classifications. From roleplaying, to serious Territory War, to just hanging out and being a family.

I hope you don't let these forums fool you, hun. I've been playing this game going on two years now, and I am addicted XD Have fun.

I thank everyone for their kind replys and welcome messages. Now, time for 1 last question, what server would you recommend for someone coming into the game whom is more of a casual-mild gamer then hardcore and likes a mix of both PvE and PvP aspects with some RP mixed in here and there for good measure?

I plan on Perfect World to help bypass the time until Sihndra's Ratkin Rompabout Racers comes out then that shall become my main game, however, I will most likely multi task between PW and TOR when that time comes seeing as I hear nothing but good things from PW and it's free to play so it won't interfere with the 14.95 I shall be paying.

Dreamweaver has a (mostly) friendly player base, and I know my friends and I have a lot of fun playing here...I played Sanctuary once, Silvy, and I will never go back...b:laugh

Anyway, like everyone was saying, you have PvP servers, where you are in perma-PK after level 30, and you have PvE servers, where you can choose to go into PK mode after level 30, and can then switch it back off after an hour spent in-game on that character. So really, it's just a matter of preference.

Here, this might help ya' out:

    Dreamweaver = PvE (thriving)
    Sanctuary = PvE (thriving)
    Heavens Tear = PvE (thriving)
Archosaur = PvE (newest, kinda empty from what I hear)
Raging Tide = PvE (screwed entirely)
Harshlands = PvP (mid to high-mid capacity)
Lost City = PvP (thriving, from what I hear)
For those times when *facepalm* and *headdesk* just aren't enough, I present...*brickhead*...painful, effective, and guaranteed to make you forget why you hit yourself in the first place.

Well well, yeah... Sanctuary may be a bit... well it's just Sanctuary...^^

Still I'd rather suggest a PVE server, Dreamweaver or Heavens Tear, but not Raging Tides or Archosaur.

Note my qualifiers behind Archosaur and Raging Tide...I would recommend he come to the newest non-noob filled PvE server...DREAMWEAVER!!!

The new servers are pretty much all baddies. Lolhyperexpstones.
Bladestorm lets you spin around like a carnival ride and do damage. Not using it is almost like having a move called Confetti Rocket Power Leap and saving it for "emergencies"

    Sanctuary really sucks.

The pvp is 100% dominated by cash shopping buttholes, or die hard mercs like myself (aka its really, really boring and lame).

PvE? Like what, our TW map? lol

I'd suggest starting on Archosaur, maybe it is possible to recapture some of the old magic (doubtful)

SinCityChick (and others): why would you say that Raging Tides server is screwed entirely?

All my characters are on it. Just wondering what you feel is messed up about the group, because if it matches my own annoyances, I might create my next on another server. I'm still not sure what class I want to stick with. Battle cleric is feeling right, but I generally like to tank with dual maces, so not sure if it will be the end class for me.

Also, make sure to pick a server that matches your time zone

West coast: Heaven's Tear, Sanctuary, Lost City, Archosaur
East coast: Harshlands, Dreamweaver, Raging Tide

I was born and raised on Heaven's Tear, and love it

I'm in the Midwest, so that doesn't really matter.
zazazu please tell me your not a FAC(full attack cleric)
Not really sure where the line is. I'm pretty low levelled right now (20) but am mostly focusing on pulse shot and that healing blessing, wearing light armor and doing mostly distance attacks with one or two physical (melee) hits as needed. I'm finding that in this class, I don't have to pot or regen nearly as much as I did as a cookie-cutter blademaster or assassin.
and the new server is screwed cuz its full of hyper exp noobs who couldnt make it on their original servers so they hyper exped up so they could feel important and "pro"
Meh, I don't really care who feels "pro" and whether they have a right to it. I'm not a status girl. I'm more concerned about maturity levels and overcrowding.
