Been looking at a lot of f2p games (which i believe this is), but with many being translations from non-eu games it's hard to get a good feel for whether they are any good or whether they are basically a cash cow via in game shops (*removed* seems to be that way, despite still being in beta). So is this game any good, and is this the place to get the EU beta (i live in the UK, not the orient). Thanks.

depends on if you want to work hard or not. PvP or PvE etc. and this version is based in the US, but has a good deal of EU players, there is no EU beta of pwi (there is a EU PW but from what I've been told it sucks)

minor note on the game you had mentioned: everying it has in the shops is in the game and farmable, you're only paying for convenience.

This game is all about the cash shop, brah.

    At least endgame. b:surrender
Bladestorm lets you spin around like a carnival ride and do damage. Not using it is almost like having a move called Confetti Rocket Power Leap and saving it for "emergencies"

b:surrender not necessarily with some work. in the past 2 days i have been able to buy 200 gold and and still have about 60mill to play with (about 60 more mill in shop to be sold). it can be done without cs. all it takes is a group of ppl willing to do the work. luckily we have a set squad and all of us can be on at the same time. another friend has made about 150mill in 3 days with another 100mill of items to sell b:victory

it is all in knowing the market and being willing b:shutup

Perhaps, but I don't (didn't) have the time or the means to farm valuable items, etc. as a mage. All my money went to mp charms. b:surrender

All cash shop games are cash cows, thats the business model, but compared to most cash shop games out there, Perfect World offers more. Better graphics, deeper gameplay, more overall content (quests, itemization, crafting etc). I play mostly subscription type mmos but i tried a lot of f2p too, and this is the only one i actually spent money on and stuck with for more than a week. Far as cash shop games go, PW offered the most complete and balanced package (graphics, gameplay, content).

We aren't really allowed to give negative opinions of PW on their official forums, so you wont really find anything but mostly positive ones here. But I quit game anyway so I can be honest.

The game has amazing graphics, gameplay and is a lot of fun. But it's beyond a doubt one of the heaviest cash shop orientated F2P mmo's out there. Profit means everything to PWI, and as a result you pretty much need the cash shop to manage at endgame, unless you're willing to miss out on a lot of content, or are extremely skilled at merchanting.

As f2p games go I do rather like pwi. There are variations on how each class can be built/played, there is a story line behind it all (not that I'm mouch for lore), plenty of content to keep you busy for quite awhile, and not everything is easy to accomplish.

There are certain aspects of subscribtions games I miss, but this is the only f2p game I've been willing to play for any decent amount of time. So far I've not grown tired of it.

Although cash is definately still king in this game, it all comes down to how you desire to play. Yes spending loads of money will get you better gear, faster leveling, etc. etc... but it's not truly necessary to empty your wallet in order to play. Personally I've spent some money on the game, but I don't regret it, and really no more so than I would on a subscription base game.

I'd give it a shot, at least there's no commitment necessary to check it out!
