So I'm fairly new here and I'm still learning A LOT about the game and the market. I want to sell stuff to start making money but I don't know much about prices around (been reading guides and forums like crazy here).
So it's like trial and error, i tried set up shop 3x now. And for all that times, I always had PPL (not just one or two, mind you) calling me names (heh, even using profanity) just because (s)he thinks i'm overpriced. Is this how all the ppl in the game attitude? (I hope not) If you think its overpriced and feel like need to make a comment, then it'll be nicer if you'd just tell me what you think the price should be, otherwise just leave it alone. If it's overpriced, then it's not gonna sell, then I usually would recheck again and again. I've seen other shops selling stuff that I have but double/triple x my prices.
I usually go to auction house to have a base price and lower it some so it'll sell faster. maybe not the most accurate, but it's probably the fastest way instead of going around checking every person's shop. I had sold quiet some stuff using this method.
No, I don't need this to be a whine thread, I just wondering if this is how the community is normally like so I know what to expect in the future. All opinions and flames are most welcome. Thanks.

Unfortunately, there is a lot of jerks in here, but I guess you'll find jerks like that in pretty much all MMORPGs...
The thing is, you are allowed to price things the way you want. It's your shop. If they are not happy, they don't have to buy anything. Once you can get passed these kind of comments, you'll be ok.
Don't worry, there is also a lot of nice folks out there...0 -
The people calling names are just the stupid people you'll find everywhere. Normally, people are friendly and helpfull. Though for help you'd best find a faction (also to ask prices).
For gear and mats, yes AH is a decent indicator on prices. With DQ items, not to much above the NPC price, most people don't use it and just sell them to NPC.
Basicly: Ignore the idiots calling you names, and if you put up your shop, the easist thing is to just turn of the screen and go do something else (or alt tab), because it can take a long time before your stuff sels.
But yea, there are alot of shops around selling overprices junk taking advantage of noobies who don't know something is worthless. It's possible you put something that's worthless in your shop, and the persons calling you names thought you were one of those people taking advantage of noobies.9 out of 10 voices in my head say I'm not crazy... the 10th is singing the music of tetris0 -

You will most likely find jerks, asses nd all in pvp servers cuz thats where most of them feel homeb:surrender0 -
You have rude people in all MMO's, just as you have rude people in real life.
The trick to both is ignoring the rude ones, and making friends with the nice ones!IceJazmin - Heavens Tear - "I am happy to agree to disagree :P"

lol thats dumb no one is forcing them to buy your items, yet they feel like you have to cater your prices to them b:sad0

agreed.
the ones that leave comments like those don't even know/care if your prices be fair....
they just be dumb and unable to afford it while they still need/want it.
which be why they do stuff like that.

People will swear at you no matter what you set your prices to. In fact, if you set your prices too low you'll have competitors swearing at you and threatening you too![SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

There are actually alot of really good people in this game. The thing is, you won't find many of them around West Arch for days trying to haggle people and scam people and make a quick buck. Look elsewhere in the game, join a good guild, and when you absolutely have to get mixed up with all the West Arch trade, just try to get in and get out as fast as possible, and keep your head and spirits held high! b:victory[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Thanks XRipetidex for the awesome sig!

Aelric is right.. there are good people in the game. Don't let those jerks get to you. Some people get a sick high from putting others down. If you are on Sanctuary you are welcome to whisper me and I will help you should you ever need it.
Good luck and welcome to PWIb:cute[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

The only time I care to leave comments is when I see a deliberate deception in place. For instance, someone with a shop selling common shards for 14,710 coins. Pricing the last one at 668k coins. I never fall for this (tho I did once a long time ago) but I feel that if you have to be deceptive in the way you do business you are sad and pathetic. Or those shops that advertise ultimate subs for 50k and have healing orbs in them instead.
Even though it is the buyers responsibility to check what they are buying, its also the sellers reputation (which most are on alts and don't care)at stake.
Back on topic, I agree with the posts here. If you have a shop up with the title random junk and people come by to get something and they just think your prices are too high, they should just move along. No one is making them buy your stuff.
I had a faction member try to sell me a celestone of human for 3k today after he joined. I explained that mirages was only 14k each no one would pay 3k for one celestone. He tried to tell me he searched the forums and I didn't know what I was talking about. I said well good luck selling then, but the answer is NO, I don't wanna buy it.
People can be polite and tell you your prices suck at the same time. Logic and reason are usually best to do this.0 -

haha, ive done that to ppl.
anyway. at OP (original poster) -- 1- you wont find prices on the forums, unless someone has specifically asked about that item (usually rares or expensive things, probably not what YOU are dealing in). 2- look around west arch at people's prices, then list yours accordingly.
and 3- the cursing for being overpriced.. and the sympathy that you're getting here.. lol. here you were able to explain "oh im new, i dont know wtf", in a cat shop in game, you cant explain that. so people see a grossley overpriced item and say "heres some jerk trying to rip off new players."0 -
Catshopping sucks and takes forever (sometimes the same item at the same price takes 5-30 mins to sell other times weeks/months) because most people are lazy and just use AH...unless TT filters are broken again. <_< Also most of the time it's not the pricing that is the problem (you have to watch the market thou) but getting the right people that need what you are selling to "stumble" over your catshop...and leaving your comp on 24/7 gives you a nice electricity bill at the end of the month -_-I am a Demon Axe/Fist BM and proud of it. b:victory

Yea :P
I once decided to go watch a movie and leave my catshop with some badges of speed I saved over the weeks. 10 of them at 30k. From what I remember already low, but that info was old. After an hour, no sell, so I lower to 25k, cause they were in the way and I needed money. Another hour pass, no sell, and I drop down to 20k. Someone stops by, and buys them all. I realize the person would have also bought them at 30k, and that I had just stolen 100k from myself.
It takes soooo long for your stuf to sell even if it's cheap, cause you still need the person who wants it to pass by and check your shop (not easy at west arch, and at other places people are less chearching for shops)9 out of 10 voices in my head say I'm not crazy... the 10th is singing the music of tetris0 -
I've been playing a while now (Character #4) and rude behaviour is not isolated to the shops. Prepare.
I have however found plenty of nice people also and continue to play for those experiences.
Dealing with the rude.
If they abuse you for hunting 'their' monsters. just blacklist them and enjoy the quiet. And try not to PK deliberately.
I have an attack cleric - heals are either non existent or poor at best. I tell people before I squad. Once in squad I usuall repeat "I Dont heal - you HP = your problem". Then they die and abuse. I immediately say goodbye and leave the squad and townport out of the instance. More abuse usually follows - especially if I had the Tab. Blacklist.
Sounds rough but I like those that play nice and help everyone complete each hunt before leaving. They buff EVERYONE in squad as best their character can.
You will find good squads that will even move from Quest to quest (even when they dont have it) just because they like the company.
I run a vent (voice chat server) and often invite people I meet more than one day in a row to join up (no cost). Being able to chat (without typping) I think makes the game a lot more fun.
Ive found factions to be less than helpful - They say anything to get you to join then hardly ever help or in some instances I played for 3 days before any were on again. If it dont work for you - leave and move on. I now have a great faction. They play my times - we all help each other - we swap resources - we make things for each other. We even gather mats for each other and have small swap fests.
I play for that....0 -
well when i see something thats overpriced that i want lol i just leave them a message saying lower the price. and if they dont lol they will wake up to an empty shop :P-retired-
