The "greedy noobs who waste tons of cash on this game" don't directly affect gold prices. Their cash goes directly to buying the packs, so aside from the occasional best luck token, never affects the coin/gold balance in AH. If anything, they make gold cheaper by offering more of it for sale on AH.

The "greedy folks" who upset the gold prices due to the packs are non-cash shoppers who use coin on AH to buy gold to buy the packs. So in this case the harm you claim is self-inflicted. There's a saying about lotteries among statisticians: They're a tax on stupid people. The packs are pretty much a lottery.

This too is self-inflicted. All the "wonderful" multi-BH, double exp events, and hyper exp stones you folks have been raving about have allowed the bulk of the playing population to level to where they can do TT easily. So they all do TT runs and try to sell the mats, meaning there are lots more of those mats than buyers compared to before, which depresses the price. Prices on the highest level TT instances and Lunar are holding steady for now, because fewer people have leveled that high or figured out effective ways to do those runs.

For gold prices to go down, one or all of three things have to happen:
    • The amount of coin in the game has to go down. This means more coin sinks like the 3 mil entry fee for Lunar, 600k fee for trophy mode; fewer coin sources like best luck tokens and double drop events.
    • Fewer people have to want to buy gold. This means fewer sales on cash shop items, no new mounts, fashion, etc.
    • More people have to want to sell gold. This means the game needs more of the cash shoppers you seem to hate and want to blame for all the game's problems.

Disclaimer: I've only spent $10 on this game for a super inventory stone.

You know what I think. They preparing economy for open chest with 1M coins. If they give us event with 1-2 gold for perfect hammer the market will be flooded by coins.

Most of the time that person will keep selling his items at 400k gold price and take advantage at 100k gold price.

    For example :
I just buy many items worth of 5 gold from other player, later on i planned to sell each for 2 mill.
But suddenly gold price go back to 100k !! Now my item only worth 500k each .. b:shedtear
Then i look on other people catshop "Hey they still selling those items at 400k gold price !!".
    I better do the same.
In situations where people refuse to lower their prices they usually just end up with inventories full of unsold items. They take themselves out of competition and earn little-to-nothing in profits.

Here's a real-life example: On Wednesday Gold was 390k, and I and my competitors all bought Coral with our stockpiled Gold. Of my competitors, none of the major ones was willing to sell for less than 390k, because they all saw 390k and set their prices at about 390k.

My logic was that I'd paid an average of 355k per Gold, meaning I'd be earning a profit of about 10% selling at 360k, and by the time my stock was sold Gold prices would (hopefully) have come down so I could re-buy at 360k.

For the most part I was right, and for the next 3 days I had no serious competition on Sanctuary because my competitors kept their prices high in anticipation of me running out of stock. But since they weren't selling anything they couldn't afford to buy Gold, meaning Gold prices kept dropping and I was able to keep re-buying. It wasn't until Saturday that competition finally started lowering their prices to the same level that I was selling at, but by that time I'd already earned about 40 million extra in profit.

Note, however, that there actually were people competing with me, and beating me, during this time. They were smaller competitors whose names I'm not familiar with, but they were buying 50-150 Coral and selling it very quickly below even my price, then re-buying. There were only a few doing this, and they weren't having a very big effect on my sales, but they are definitely doing things correctly. Since I have to buy such bulk quantities I always have to bid quite a bit more for Gold in order to get it, but since they only need 45-135 they can afford to bid less and still get the amount they need.
if people refused to buy gold for more than 100k (ahh, sweet memories. anyone else remember those days?), the sellers couldn't sell for more than 100k.
People would also have to refuse to buy any in-game items as well, which is why these schemes are doomed to fail. These plans offer feel-good promises of everybody winning in the end, but they just aren't based in sound economic reality.

The real reason prices are high is because people are competing for limited resources. Working together to boycott prices won't cause more of those resources to magically appear, in fact there will be less of them.

The majority of my customer base is, rather bizarrely, people who are so angry about high Gold prices that they refuse to buy Gold. People have told me flat-out that they'd rather buy from me because they don't want to support "greedy Gold sellers", yet all I do is take the money they give me and use it to buy Gold. Go figure.
the law of supply and demand that was mentioned earlier only really matters in essentials for life... you know, things like food, shelter, etc...
I don't know what school you went to, but they need to fire their economics instructor if they told you that.

Heh... no, but I wish I did...

I started with 1100 Packs and have been able to use the profits to re-buy about another 350 or so each day. So from Wednesday to Saturday I've sold a little over 2000 packs total.

i don't know if you experience this, but what i've seen is people buying packs 1 at a time, as if they think that 1 pack is going to be the pack that's "it". b:chuckle

Yup, but the best one I've seen so far is somebody buying them from me one at a time for several minutes, and then he stopped.

A few seconds later a message appeared: "lol", "i got marshall badge from u! thx"

I love seeing gold prices going down again T.T(<--tears of joy), makes non-Cser players like me happy that we can start buying certain things, like those little CS items u want, yet dont need =)

When I 1st saw the price inflation after the release of ani packs, I was like "hmm, why is everything so expensive now? o.o" It was crazy lol, yet over time of weathering those new, harsh economic changes, I found ways to take advantage of it and ended up making a tad more than I usually did before, while still doing my usual thing and having fun all the same ^^
Persons who think this game can only be fun through the Boutique and gold usually have the least fun with the game and quit because the game became 'too boring' for them. I pity these fools =\

Go ahead, right now that would probably only get you around 3-4 gold, which isn't even enough to buy a platinum charm. One star dragon orbs are 1 gold each, good luck upgrading your gear with that little amount of gold after hours of toil.

I WORK HARD dammit! Very damn hard. I just don't want to see prices skyrocket when I have my mind set on getting more items to improve armor and weapons. What part of "I GRIND ENDLESSLY" do you not understand? It's too much, and it's effing BORING.

Selling in the AH costs money, money alot of times I do not necessarily have because I'm trying to upgrade my gear for as much money as I can scrape together. Most of my items sell, but alot of times they don't, so that's more money down the damn drain.

I know the market, and it's becoming more difficult to for people that buy gold in game and buy gold with RL money but can't afford to spend 400+ dollars like many of you can to keep up.

Okay, now... lemme see if I have this right...
    1) You are a venomancer.
    2) You are 4x
    3) You claim to sell your items in AH
    4) You claim to be grinding 6+ hours a day.

Based on this information that I have gathered from this thread, I believe these statements are accurate.

As a venomancer, you have a pet. This means, you are not gear dependant for getting quests and grinding done since the pet wears no gear. Pet is tank, you are DPS/pet healer. I believe that is the standard arrangement. As such, why on earth are you going nuts about gear in your 40s? Between Bounty Hunters and Tideborn quest, the 4x levels take like... 3 days... and that's if you don't grind or do the random other quests. You also don't have much for repair costs as your pet tanks the hits and pets again, do not wear gear.

As for selling in AH, what do you sell? For me, I buy gear in the AH, when I outlevel it, I sell it for break-even or higher and it almost always sells on the first day. If you sell it at break-even, you technically had a gross loss of 0 coins for the levels that you used that gear for.
Example : At level 43 I buy Armor of Barbarian Shaman for 1million coins. This armor lasts me until level 60. I then sell the Armor of Barbarian Shaman for 1mil coins or more. If I sell for 1million coins, then I basically borrowed in a sense the armor for 17 levels and ended up with 0 gross loss. Obviously there is the tax on AH, but its what? 2k coins? Thats like 10 mob kills... or a DQ drop.

As for grinding 6+ hours a day, if that is truly what you do, and you have no money, then I question what it is you are buying with it. Even so, grinding is not the way to obtain money on this game. If I had 6 hours to devote to one money making task a day, I would farm mid grade mats. they sell for between 3-4k a piece (at least on servers Ive played) and that translates to about 350-400k an hour in coins when you sell them in your catshop at night. In 6 hours, that's 2,100,000 - 2,400,000 coins. You then take that money (which is pure profit) and start merchanting. You invest your money into buying a popular high demand item for cheap and then sell it for a slight markup. Using the above mat farming numbers, if you spent it all on telecoustics for say 12k, you could buy 200 telecoustics. You then turn around and sell them in your own shop at say 13k and voila, you have made a 200k profit overnight. That's roughly an 8% return on your investment. Now think if you repeated this process for a short period of time, like a week. Your income will grow greatly.

Making money in this game is not hard by any means. It's basic business all around. Buy low, sell high. Minimize costs and maximize profits. Instead of using mana potions while grinding, use focus powders, lessen your hp potion intake by using life powders. Don't buy what you do not need, so many times I see people complaining about being poor and then they have about 10-20 gold worth of fashion items. Hold off on purchasing items like that until you have income.

That's what I've done and this past week, my expenditures per day have been about 600-700k, but by taking a bit of time to farm valuable items, I bring in about 800k or so per day. I haven't been overnight catshopping because my laptop has a cooling issue right now and overheats, but even so, I'm able to bring in enough money for skills, gear, potions, charms, and even some hyper exp every now and then. And I haven't been blue named since level 30 so anyone can come and kill me while I'm outside safezone thus slowing down my ability to bring in money.
