We AREN'T your slaves...

Why is it that just because I'm a Cleric most people assumes I'm some kind of buff slave? I was walking around North Archo the other day and this level 20 Venomancer demanded, not asked for, but DEMANDED buffs. Just because I'm a Cleric does not mean you're entitled to my buffs, my heals, or my Revives. Especially when you demand them like you own me, you don't. Maybe, just MAYBE if you ask politely I'll be willing to buff you because I feel generous at the moment, but not when you're so ignorant as to what our job is. Our job is to help a team of people achieve a common goal by providing healing, buffs, and the occasional revive, not to waste our MP on some little punk that thinks they have some right to our buffs just because of our class.

Long story short: Don't demand our buffs, you have absolutely no entitlement to them. A Cleric does not have to buff you, and if we do for some reason decide to buff you out of the kindness of our hearts you thank whoever decided to grace you with the most valuable buffs in this game and continue on your way.


(If I seem like I'm whining deal with it, I'm tired of this ****. Every day someone wants my buffs and any time I deny them they get pissy with me saying it's my job to buff them, it's not. So before you flame me for my post, go play a Cleric for 90 un-oracled levels and deal with the **** I've dealt with from the idiots on here, then flame me. Until you've done that don't even bother trolling.)

    Amen to that, Zanryu. I'm so sick of people demanding buffs and ress'es from clerics as if we're made for the sole purpose of catering to others, then have the gall to WHINE when we buff them? They'd better thank god they weren't shown my Tempest instead.

    thats one of the perks of a pvp server.

    someone asks for buffs, i click tempest and "oops wrong button".

    On a serious note, you could always use my favorite afk message to use even if you aren't afk.

    That describes my relationship perfectly with a lot of randoms I've come across, with a teaspoon of exaggeration. "buff plz" "res plz" ... etc. I get random messages in towns and even while I'm flying over areas people go to quest (ex: Swamp of the Wraiths). Sometimes I ignore them, sometimes I do not; it depends on my mood and how afk-ish I am. I even once had someone on my friends list that would literally DEMAND me for buffs, help and resses whenever he felt like it. He has been removed since I decided that enough is enough and that I'm not anyone's slave.

    If they are civil about it (and I can actually understand what they are saying) I will generally buff them. If they are rude or just demanding, I either ignore them or say no. If they continue, I debuff them, then Wield Thunder their ****. They sure as hell get the message after that. And if for some reason they keep talking smack when I kill them, I don't rez them.

    well, I ask for buffs when I go in cube usually and I'm asking randomly any cleric near by...
    I always say something like "could u buff me please?" ... most of the time I don't get any replies, sometimes I'm given just the 30 min buffs (fine with those, I don't ask specific, but I love the 1h for the comfort of duration) but I always thank after and go my way.
    Stupid thing is from what i've seen a full cleric buffs actually comes close and often ticks the cleric mana charm. That's just plain stupid from my PoV so I don't mind when clerics give me only the PDef (since that's what I need the most) buff.

    Not exactly buff related, but fits the title...

    A couple of days ago I was helping a faction mate who needed a Darkbreed Wolfkin heart. We'd killed the ones just outside the cave with no success, so I said we'd probably be better off going into the cave. As we were running over to the cave, a barbarian approached and said;

    "You"

    We kept running until we were almost inside the cave, then came..

    "You will help me"

    I'm generally a patient sort, so I asked what he wanted help with and he said he needed to kill a Darkbreed Wolfkin. I joined him to the squad, we entered the cave and I killed the first wolfkin. To his credit he did thank me for that, but his next statement was...

    "Now you help me with quest"

    He sent me a friend invitation and then left the cave. My faction mate hadn't got the heart she needed yet, so we continued until we got it. After that I had to log off. Thankfully, I haven't heard from that barb since and won't be helping him until he learns a few manners!

    Sounds like he just didn't speak English well and used no punctuation.

    What annoys me sometimes is when another person will buff themselves in front of you then ask you for your buffs. I enjoy randomly buffing and will buff if someone asks nicely (if not so nicely then depends on my mood), but this just irks me.

    Was killing the yayans next to Whetstone yesterday. There are like 6 mobs there and you get a quest to kill 65. A barb runs up and starts hammering away (would have squadded if he'd asked). I stopped killing them because I didn't see the point fighting over 6 or however many mobs. Then when he's waiting for them to respawn he stands next to me, buffs himself, then asks me for buffs. Just thought, "Well kiss my butt", buffed a psy nearby and flew to the top of the hill where there are a few more mobs.

    I've got 6900 mp, and a full set of 30 min buffs don't tick my charm. The 1 hour buffs tick it almost twice. :( So, unless you're in my party, and no one in the party has the Cleric's buffs yet, you get my 30 min duration buffs.

    It's rare for me to be able to be in Arch without someone coming up and saying, "cleric buff pls". Since I'm usually there because I'm dealing with an NPC, usually they just get ignored.

    Not long ago I was playing a lower level cleric and killing Werewolf Spearmen - and blowing thru my mana like crazy while doing it - and this Wiz comes up yelling "heal me". He was at least level 50 from the gear he was wearing, and just running around like a crazy person. I just laughed at him and said, "No."

    A barb doesn't have to tank for you. An archer, Wiz doesn't have to dd for you. You don't have to heal or res anyone. You play a game for yourself first, then with/for your friends and guild then others imo.

    This rarely happens to me on our server but if a barb comes in I would keep killing an steal his kills as I was there first.

    lol that reminds me i was like once in sp waiting for rest of squad to come and well there were a lot pkers there and there was this dude he like "buff meh, heal meh, rev meh" i thought like well since im not doing anything then its oke, he like "chi now" i had like .. o.o this is getting ennoying then he dies in sp he comes back and this continues for like few turns then he comes again and i was rly getting tired and i said like " dude im not a personal buffer and reviver and im certainly not a chi bag =.= " for the rest i totaly ignored him

    I only heal, buff, or rez my friends. I don't go and waste my mp unless they are well educated if we could say it like that. If someone is demanding some buffs or anything I'll just ignore and keep going with whatever I was doing since I don't have to help him. You heal, buff, and rez anyone you want if you want to, if not... too bad.
