Hey guys, io know some of you probably cant get Vent to work, but i found a good solution.
Skype is pretty popular in my faction, its easier to use for me, so i was wondering if anybody else uses it?

    Yea we use skype in our faction too. Probably have about 8 or 9 people max in call tho b4 it gets really really confusing. Sometimes use vent for instances but mostly skype

    i prefer vent, but some days my connection acts up and i got bad lags on it, then i switch to skype. works fine but i dont like the fact conference call transmits everything and not only things i decide to say to squad... (like phone calls, somebody entering the room and asking me something, cat meowing, every sneeze, drinking tea and so on and so on)

    Tried Vent a couple of times.. Echo, noise, bad quality :/
    Skype = Super quality, no noise at all, and no echo :)
    Problem many has is that Skype uses a lot of resources and limeted to 6-8 players talking at one time, not sure about that :p

    Geez...vent isn't bad for me, guess it's because I am near where our faction's server is based...Tried TS once, never will again...HORRIBLE sound quality...
    For those times when *facepalm* and *headdesk* just aren't enough, I present...*brickhead*...painful, effective, and guaranteed to make you forget why you hit yourself in the first place.

    According to Wikipedia, Skype can have up to 25 people in a conference at a time, including the host. I haven't checked if that's true though.

    I get nervous talking. I don't even talk to people on vent unless I have to or I know them well, and because of the lack of push to talk, skype is even more nervewracking for me. So I personally hate skype, because it makes me even more nervous to talk.

    One of the things I hate about it is the idea of being 'called'. In vent, you just join, no one has to call you or accept a call from you. Maybe I didn't look into skype enough, but it seemed to me that to join a call you had to be called by the host, which makes it a pain.

    However, on the plus side, sometimes when I press my PTT it keeps me from doing things, so I can't talk and play at the same time, but because of the lack of PTT on skype it's possible.

    Using TeamSpeak since i started wasting my time online.
    No Problems with sounds, No Problems with lags, no problems finding Servers...
    tried Vent once, was disappointed (maybe just inexperienced with it...)
    Maybe skype or Vent or whatever is betterfastermorestableblingblingwatchamacallit.
    I stick to what i'm used to.

    Conferences on skype lag me like hell. I can't use it in rbs... not even talking about TW....
    Using TeamSpeak since i started wasting my time online.
    With TS I'm not sure how to set it up... cause when smb is talking the sound is corrupt, imposible to understand what ppl are saying.

    I guess it depends on your internet speed and what programme you use for voice chat

    You can change the hotkey assigned to PTT, or disable it, so you won't attack that npc that's so nice to offer you a WQ book instead of talking to him. b:mischievous

    LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How dare you talk poorly about vent... VENTRILO is the best VOIP software out there.. (most simply to use +most reliable + most sound quality) Skype and TS are totall Trash .. If you cant get vent to work or work properly is not the software's fault, it's most probably because your basically an a$$ ..

    I don't want to change it from what I'm used to for the years I've used it, and no other keys are really not used enough so that I can press them and do things at the same time, without them having some effect. I meant as in, if I'm holding CTRL to talk, and try to start moving, it clears my chat box and focuses me on it so I can't do anything until I defocus it.

    Aww haha don't be so shy Aadi! You're not shy to post your opinions and views on the forums, so speak up on your guild's voip as well. :D

    On a side note... Let me just throw this out there in case there's people that don't know about it... If you want to use ventrilo while in game on a Windows Vista operated system, you will have to run it as an admin to be able to use PTT (push to talk).

    We use Skype in our guild, and you can indeed have up to 25 people active at once.

    Just make sure you get a mic check beforehand so you can identify voices and everyone can find their mics.

    I can't help it b:sad Text =/= voice, I chat in guild chat on my alt (Aadi's factionless, lol) just fine but I don't speak in vent unless it's just the leader and I, since I know him well.

    Oh yeah, I remember all that admin stuff. Oddly enough I never had that problem even though I use Vista...maybe because I'm windowed though.

    I'm an insane Vent/TS/Skype chatterbox. As long as people are paying attention to what I'm saying, I will not shut up, lol. So if you think I'm bad in-game, don't get me on VOIP.

    I don't like TS because every server I've been on has horrible, horrible sound quality. Skype has a very good sound quality but lacks a PTT, and I have a husband who talks to me IRL - he's quiet so it often looks like I'm talking to myself. Also most of my group exp with Skype has one guy or girl who has RL fights/heavy arguments going on in the background, or extremely noisy friends.

    So I highly prefer Ventrilo. I got a server for my faction, too bad we're only a handful of people who use it.

    Vent > than any other program. If it doesn't work for you then you don't know how to use your computer.

    me tried vent and teamspeak 3 but not skype.
    what me like about teamspeak be that it'll automatically muffle the other person speaking to you so you don't get teh annoying feedback thingy.
    what me like about vent be that...more people use it?
