More than likely the reason you can't find that information is that those venos who know also know how much those pets bring in when sold to other, less fortunate venos. Therefore, the likelihood of you getting the information from another veno is slight, and the likelihood of you taming the frog/tabby is very low, due to the fact that more than you will be there trying to catch it when it spawns (which, as with all rare pets, is once every 24 hours, I believe). Good luck!

And of course Vitenka, a veno, would give the information...*facepalm*

Much easier to grind coins to buy one, in my opinion. Too many pro catchers around.

This will probably get moved to the venomancer section of forums, just a pre-warning.

Eh, I don't believe in hiding this sort of information.

Mind you - I can't tell you the spawn time, since it changes and I've not been recently.

And it will be very hard for you to tame one, there's usually fierce competition.
But good luck to you, anyway :)

Aww man, the baby froggy requires 8? >_< I thought it was 5... guess that means I have to catch 6 more now instead of 3...

There are three froggy spawns, btw. Check pwdatabase.com.

And there are a lot of cases where regular venos can tame rares. I've caught a tabby, a pup, and enough snow hares to make an all-class. :P

The thing I wonder is... how do the spawn times work with server changes? I know roughly when one, possibly two of the frogs on HT will spawn tonight, but if there's maintenance, the times will be changed tomorrow morning. No one has told me a reliable rule for figuring out when to report to the spawn point. Does anybody know?

For most rares it is 5 hrs after server reset (maintenance) I believe? Get there 4 hours after and wait. Write down the time you catch them, then every 12 hours after. If you miss one, then you'll pretty much just have to guess when it will respawn. Snowhare being the exception, it respawns every hour I think. (I'm not a veno :P)
I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.

The time I have heard is "Server up-time + 5" but whether that is actually true or not, I'm unsure.

It certainly was close to being true. (As in, at least within ten minutes) back when I tried for the rares - but that was before tideborn. It is possible it has changed.

All I know for sure is that if the froggy operated on +5, it wouldn't have spawned as late as it has been this week. I'd point out the time on HT but quite frankly, I'd really like tonight's spawn for myself. -_- If the +5 rule really works, it'll be back to normal tomorrow anyway.

Although... I HAVE seen the frog spawn at times roughly like the other rares... x.x

The +5 rule applies only immediately after maintainence - from that point on, rare pets spawn 12 hours after the last time they were tamed or killed.

So it slowly progresses around the clock. If we go long enough without a server shutdown you get to a point where the rare pets all spawn in sequence just far enough apart for the venomancers trying to tame one can get to the next one :)

There's a document floating around which purports to show when individual areas come online in relation to one another - worked out by watching the spawn time of the various minibosses.
The accuracy of that, I have no idea of, but people seemed impressed when it first came out.

I'm aware of the offset of later spawn times (beyond the first). I was just surprised to find the frog spawn at several hours past +5 this week. That was only the one spawn, though... I've heard of a second spawn operating at about that time, but I have yet to see it myself. Tonight will tell, I guess.

Well, we've skipped maintainance - a couple of hours slip in two weeks isn't impossibly unlikely.

But yes, maybe the timing has changed.

    The three frog spawns are:
    196 513
    239 549
    245 571

All, more or less, near the untamed villages on the river. (One of them is practically on the bridge)

THIS. The best bet for a level low level Veno is to enlist the help of 2-3 other Venos that want to get a rare themselves. I've known low level Venos that actually managed to become succesful enough they continued taming for profit. If you can't find people that will assist you try making friends at spawn sites, not all Venos there are pro tamers and some may be willing to team up for an improved chance at getting their rare.

Remember this is a social game and the help of others can go a long way.

actually the correct vocabulary would be poacher. theyre rare animals, and its illegal to hunt endangered animals that only appear one time!

    Hi!
So I have a couple of questions about the whole taming rare pets thing. I too, have been going after the elusive shadou cub. And people keep talking about "channeling". Can someone explain that to me? I believe you're supposed to have channeling weapons? Where does one get those? Are there stones that you can use on your weapons and or armor to help with it? (Oh and by the way; the only place I've ever seen the froggy spawn at is the location right by the bridge, under the small tree. I actually got one there!)
And, given the "greedy" nature I've experienced from several Veno's at the cub location (same person, all week long 2x's a day getting it!!); I think that the game devs should put a limit on how many a person can tame per week. Like one! Make it a little bit fairer for everyone else who desires one. But I'm gonna track down the suggestion thread I've seen floating around; and put that idea in there!
And one other thing; the rule I've found to be true about spawn times is 5 hours after the servers come up from the updates; then 12 hours again after that, etc; but I've only been at this for about 3 weeks now.
Thanks for any info anyone might be able to give me on channeling!

    Your channeling question

Channeling is essential for most arcane magic users, because it reduces the time that your spells are cast. That bar when you use, for example, tame beast, if you have like -3% channeling, 3% of the channeling time is reduced, making the skill trigger faster. You would want to have more channeling when dealing with other venos that are trying to capture a rare pet you're after as well. They will have channeling gear, adding up to maybe over -20% channeling. There are other skills (genies) and apothecary potions that can help decrease your channeling time too. Basically, if you have more - channeling gear, you might have better chance capturing the rare pet against all those other venos. However, it takes time and luck to get a rare pet.

And yes, people will camp and mark the time that rare pets respawn. These venos specifically will farm the pets and put them in the auction house for sale to make money. Like, last 5 times I was at kowlin area, this one veno with over -30% channeling always got it...never giving other venos even a chance.

Everyone has a chance to buy -chan. gears. Money doesnt grow on trees even if you reach high lvl. Its nice that there are so many non greedy ppl out there, but I doubt that they need to spend big money on low lvl...especially a veno...so maybe you should check how expensive high lvl stuffs are.(btw. some special -chan. gears are 50m+. And any rare pet is way cheaper than the chaepest good -chan. gear)
Making a limit would be unfair aswell. It would be only good for the "poor little new chars". Tamers spent a lot of coins/time/etc. on it to catch it often/or every day even.Sending them in the corner with new rules would be the lamest thing.Atleast they worked for their goal and dont QQ for new rules.

I'm a veno on the Raging Tide server, and am more than willing to pay for a kitty pet egg - for attack purposes, of course. However, all I can find for sale are pups and snow hares. A friend acquired a snow hare, and it's surprisingly tough.

Is there a way to tell the number of cat shops, and what they sell? Most of the ones I've seen sell DQ items.

(And why are there no eggs for sale shops by the Pet Skill Trainers or Managers? Wouldn't that be a good place to have one?)
