Equipping Shards on Bows

I have a level 4 bow now and yet I cannot infuse a shard to it. Is this because the bow must have "sockets" or must I wait for higher level bows?

    you have to have socket stones. you buy them from the boutique. u need seventy five of them to add two sockets.

    and make sure that the shard isn't a higher level than the bow or else you won't be able to shard it.

    Yes, your bow must have sockets. Weapons can have from zero to two sockets.

    For a level 4 bow, I'd say that it's not worth it to spend money on socket stones, since you'll be replacing it soon enough anyway.

    Thanks I'll save my zen when I have better bows.

    What is the advantage of a crossbow over a bow? My bow has the same time between shots, damage, etc.

    Crossbow has better spike damage while a bow has more constant damage. A crossbow does fire at a slower rate than a bow though.
