Yes, even on an MMO success is the product of hard work, i won't argue that. But there is such a thing as balance, and right now this game rewards mostly merchants/heavy CS users. It's not unreasonable to complaint about the status quo given that there's good cause to do so. It's all i'm saying.
I would know about how un-profitable TT is on my archer. It's why I'm saving up for a Herc on the veno. Yes, soloing is a lot longer, but in the end it's a lot more profitable provided you are careful enough.
I did not - anywhere - deny that this game is leaning towards the cash shopping users.
However, the OP is doing nothing but complain that she doesn't want to grind because it's boring, that PWI is such a chore she doesn't like playing it, even more QQ that she doesn't want to grind, QQ that she can't get what she wants because she isn't rich enough and suchlike, and QQ there are better games out there than PWI
And yet she hasn't left yet. Seriously, this is nothing but a QQ fest of "I'm bored! There are better games! Gold prices are really high! QQ!" without any realisation of how easy it is to make a profit if you invest some time and effort.
Seriously, you do not need to be a rocket scientist to buy 100 tokens at 11k and resell them for 14k. Or buy tokens at 11k, make telecoustics and resell telecoustics for 14k. It's not THAT hard.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

You don't need to be a rocket scientist, but you do need people that will actually buy those tokens and teles for 14k. This isn't like irl economics and all the middle man can offer his customers is convenience, and sometimes the benefit of scale economy pricing. Our merchants aren't exactly buying tons of produce from farmers...
Yes, the OP complaints. This is an internet forum, no reason not to let her vent.0 -
@ Airyll - Dreamweaver, it seems you've already hit your head several times if you think I give two shyts about what you just said. Your whole reply post was a QQ post, so spare me.
Gosh, you make it seem as though YOU made the damn game yourself. I just love how idiots that AGREE with me that the game is boring and expensive turn around and defend it like it's their god.
Not everyone can make money merchanting and trading, and dungeon crawling? That requires DECENT WEAPONS AND ARMOR (and sometimes charms), which require you have the resources to get those things in the first place. See where I'm going?
And for your information O' illiterate one, I've already uninstalled this bullshyt game, so no need to tell me to do so. Drain hours of your life and hundreds of your hard earned RL dollars on a game that will never be as good as even some of the lower end P2Ps if you want, I'll pass.0 -

I hate to say but I have been able to make telecoustics fly off the racks if I sell them for 14k. If you noticed, I did say time and patience somewhere in my previous posts, or something to that effect.
And yes. This is an internet forum. No reason to not let me tell her to GTFO if she seriously feels the game is that bad. There's complaining about something, then there's obnoxiously complaining about how much something sucks yet refusing to leave even though you never say anything good about the game at all. To me there is a difference. One warrants being listened to provided it's not unreasonable. The other is unreasonable and warrants being told to leave if you think it sucks that badly.
This happens to be the latter.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

The only QQ post here was yours. I was telling you what to do if PWI sucked that much. seems you already have though, that's a good start. Now you just need to get off the forums and spare us all the headache.
If you can't get decent weapons and armour there is something very wrong with you. Five minutes on the AH can get me a good piece of armor for as little as 15k. You aren't telling me you can't make 15k. And if you are, you should have left a very, very long time ago.
Also, I don't put much in this game. I play this game because it's fun, and because IMO it's better than the lower end P2Ps. My apologies that I can do what you can't and you're jealous of that fact.
Really, don't hit your head on the way out. You're clearly traumatised enough as it is.

Fun fact: I have spent more hours of my life playing games like Pokemon and Final Fantasy because I find them better games then PWI. I have the sense to play a different game if I don't enjoy the one I'm currently playing.

If you could read my avatar, I'm level 91. Nearly 92. On this main I have almost all of my endgame stuff anyway.
On my 70 veno it's not hard to find a good +vit and pdef hat for 15k at all. Same with capes. Maybe if I want to splash out 'll spend up to 200/300k on a -channel gear but that's the only really expensive stuff excluding legendary molds and TT. Now if I read right, you aren't even level 50 yet.
There is no way good gear, for your level, costs at least 100k. You must seriously suck at finding gear if that's the case because at level 50 I would come across gear drops that were completely free and class as good gear.
The fact you think that good gear costs at least 100k is proof of your sheer, sheer idiocy and inability to check the AH for five minutes and find a good deal. I'm so glad you've quit PWI because you're a poor excuse for a player if you think good armor that isn't legendary costs at least 100k - you're a disgrace to the rest of us.
I don't even have 500k across all my characters at the moment, and for the level and things I need... that's perfectly enough.

It's funny how the person who wasn't screaming about how hard they work and about how much this game sucks and yada yada is the one who's told to get an anger management course.

On a related note, any valid point the OP had was lost to me when she decided to tell me she hated this game, couldn't make enough money for her liking and apparently, couldn't find good armor because it all cost at least 100k.

We're on different servers. Different servers=different prices. What you're talking about are hats and capes, what I'm talking about is armor tops, bottoms, wrists and boots. I see anyone no matter how low their IQ can play this game.
I thought that 91 was the amount of times you've annoyed people that make sense, but I see it's your so-called skill level.
To get endgame type gear for only 15k is ridiculous, and on Raging Tide server, impossible, that includes hats and capes.

I don't care if you leave, or if you do to be quite honest.
My problem is you come parading in here, complaining that you don't like the price of something, complaining you don't like this, don't like that, yada yada, complain moan complain whine winge gripe complain moan QQ - and don't seem to just shut up and leave if you hate it that much. It's the severe lack of common sense you show, you post nothing but how much this game sucks yet you don't just shut up and leave because you hate it so much. Why?
Also, I am talking about all kinds of gear. You will be amazed at the deals you can find in the AH. I've come across +6 vit and +45 phys. def, two star, two socket arcane sleeves at level 54 or whatever the req level is, for 15k. As far as I was concerned on my veno, that was a good deal, and I bought it.
Of course endgame armour doesn't sell that cheaply, but when you posted your level, you claimed you were only 4x. Why would you be looking at endgame armour at such a level? The answer is you wouldn't.
Oh, and regarding the snide comment about my IQ, my IQ is perfectly high. Straight A grades FTW and being one of the top five students in school.
I obviously totally had the IQ of a rock. God forbid the people who had an IQ less than mine, huh?
My point: your arguments hold no validity and you have clearly done no research into the most basic and easiest of marketing schemes. You have clearly not checked prices and you do not understand the concept of the auction house if good gear for your level - which you stated earlier was in the 40s - is at least 100k.
Please kindly either rethink your arguments, because they currently suck balls, or just leave, because you aren't doing yourself any favours.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

But you know what? Most grinders will take no steps to improve themselves. Even when I and others have given step-by-step directions on how to make 100x as much money with little-to-no effort, the vast majority of grinders ignore the advice.
The reason is pretty simple: people are stubborn. They assume somebody else ought to reward them for their work, no matter how pointless or redundant that work is.lilaclilydaisy wrote: »Why should I bust my **** (which I've done since I started this game), get little to no reward for it and NOT ENJOY a game just to accommodate you or the greedy developers that made this buggy inferior game? I know the market, and it's becoming more difficult to for people that buy gold in game and buy gold with RL money but can't afford to spend 400+ dollars like many of you can to keep up.
I know many, but not all of the in-game markets, and that's gotten me a little over 500 million coins over the past 6 months without spending any real-life money. The amount of money you make is not based on the amount of work you do. I know that sounds unfair, but nobody said life is fair. The amount of money you make is based on how much what you do is valued by others. That's why the return on grinding is rather low; it generates little of value to others - just the coin and coin value of the drops.
OTOH, if you buy stuff during a sale, and make it available to others at below CS prices after the sale is over, that offers tremendous value to other players, allowing you make a huge profit off it (while at the same time they are benefiting by being able to get CS items at below CS prices). Likewise, when I set up a shop in Silver Pool buying DQ31 mats, then bring them to Archo and set up a shop next to the banker selling them to people wanting to expand their bank, that too offers value (at both ends - people in Silver Pool who would've NPCed their DQ mats get more money for them by selling to me).
So Warren is correct in that you're being stubborn. You're convinced you should be making money according to how hard you grind, when reality says otherwise. The real key is flexibility. To have an open mind to try out different things, ditch what doesn't work, and refine what does to make it better. Those of us successfully merchanting weren't born magically knowing the right way to do things. We tried lots of different things, some worked, some didn't, and we changed our tactics in response. I've eaten multi-million coin losses on several occasions because I was convinced the market would respond a certain way. But then reality slapped me in the face and the market reacted differently, and now I know that (1) I can make stupid decisions sometimes, and (2) I won't be making those particular mistakes again.
So rather than jumping to the conclusion that merchants are ripping you off, or cash shoppers are ruining the economy, or the game is poorly designed; consider the possibility that maybe what you're doing to make money isn't an optimal way to be making it. Instead of thinking up ways to blame others, consider that maybe you yourself are to blame for your situation, and see where that leads you.0 -
lilaclilydaisy wrote: »I just looked at the auctioneer price for gold trading in Archosaur and it was around 360 thousand in-game coins per gold. The price last time I remembered was an average of 250 thousand in-game coins, and this was only a few weeks ago mind you. I had saved up approximately 1.8 million in-game coins through relentless grinding and now I come to find out it was all in vain. I don't know who exactly is raising the price of gold in the gold trading booth (more than likely one of the several uncool factions that troll the game and spam the world chat with petty insults and useless babble, but I digress), but I can't play this game anymore. RL money doesn't go far in the cash shop, and now I come to see that in-game grinding is becoming more difficult and overall pointless since the price for gold at the auctioneer keeps getting jacked up. At this rate, in a few weeks gold might be 500k per gold. I think if that were to happen many people would just up and leave, like I did. I was so disappointed at those prices and seeing them rise another 10k before I left that I just gave up and uninstalled the game. I can't imagine grinding for over 300k per gold, just to go back and see the price rise once again. I was planning on putting 20 dollars in the game but what would that have gotten me? 1 super inventory stone, a couple of charms and some sockets maybe? Maybe a teleacoustic or 3 if I had anything left. Not worth it.0

/rant
and now back to the original topic. sorry to say folks, but at this point, i think its fair to say that we as a general player base with the ability to get zen have screwed our economy. as long as we perpetuate the cycle of greed, we'll never see gold prices at a level thats comfortable for the 'casual player' (and lets face it, how many of us adults really have the time to go farm several mil in one sitting these days) as long as players continue to buy gold at the prices its at, people will continue to sell it. players cry about it to eachother, cry to the GM's to fix it... we are the only ones that can change it. start a revolution, get enough of the player base to stop paying so much for gold and teh price will drop... of course, theres about as much chance of that happening as me fling to the moon in a cardboard box.
its not the sellers that set the price, they just charge as much as the buyers are willing to pay. if people refused to buy gold for more than 100k (ahh, sweet memories. anyone else remember those days?), the sellers couldn't sell for more than 100k. the law of supply and demand that was mentioned earlier only really matters in essentials for life... you know, things like food, shelter, etc... in this situation, all the supply in the world would have the value of a wagon full of horse manure if those with the demand refuse to pay the suppliers priceReYVynN-93 barb (semi-retired)

Euhm, this thread is pretty fail, seeing as OP doesn't even play any more. Anyways, I just can't help myself....
To the guy who posted just before this (81 sin I think), saying chest of coins never affected economy: it never really had a chance to. Chest of coins came out shortly after supply stash. Previously, the supply stash was the only reason to buy a perfect hammer, and a good one at that if you were 70+ (ish).
That being said, chest of coins never really had a chance to set a minimum for gold, as anniversary packs came out shortly after. The minimum for coins is DEFINITELY still just slightly below 200k, it's just never gotten anywhere near there since last September.
One thing I can assure you...there are so many people with SO many chests of coins, myself included, that if gold ever does go below 200k, lets say 190k.... you can bet your butt I'll spend 20 seconds to make a free 50k, or 40k, or however much. I don't think you realize how little effort it would take to cash in on our massive stash of chests if gold goes that low.
Side note, chest of coins still sells for 20-60k on Dreamweaver b:chuckle0 -
On real world isn't once prices inflate its really hard to go down again right ? b:surrender
Let's say of Gold price go back to 100k will people sell items with that in mind ?
Remember someone who has buy many things with 400k gold price then suddenly gold price changed to 100k, isn't that like instantly make him lose investment ? b:shocked
Most of the time that person will keep selling his items at 400k gold price and take advantage at 100k gold price.
For example :
I just buy many items worth of 5 gold from other player, later on i planned to sell each for 2 mill.
But suddenly gold price go back to 100k !! Now my item only worth 500k each .. b:shedtear
Then i look on other people catshop "Hey they still selling those items at 400k gold price !!".
I better do the same.
It already happening and can't be changed back.(except on new server with no boutique and P2P)
And if there too many gold seller.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Of course the gold prices are awful but they've been so for the last 6 months or so, and I really don't have the consistency to keep on complaining about it. As long as there are greedy people in this world, the gold prices will stay above 250k (don't even remeber when they last went below 300k).
You people can say whatever you want, but the truth is that when gold prices were around 100k, it was much better to play for everyone. 90% of players agree that those packs have totally ruined the economy, while 10% keep defending themselves because they are greedy noobs who waste tons of cash on this game (sorry for saying this but it's true, you gotta face it). Everyone has different wiews about the packs, for those who buy gold they're good, for those who can't buy gold, they're bad. And everyone wants to get their profit, everyone wants to have cool stuff, etc. We really can't blame people for trying to get the best out of it. Only ones we can blame are the people who brought the packs in the game. Didn't you get enough money before? Now you just have lots of people who quit because of those ridiculous sales + people who don't have a life and would have wasted the same amount of money on other boutique items as they do now on packs. Seriously, if you're gonna do those kind of things, the game should be P2P after all.
And one other thing I don't understand is, why do all the stuff like materials (TT, FF and other materials too), herbs and items you can get from the game itself not the boutique, keep going cheaper while the gold prices are rising? How are we supposed to make money that way? For instance, imagine the gold being at 100k. You have materials that you can sell for 3k each. Then the gold goes up to 400k, but you still can sell the materials for only 3k, if not cheaper. If the prices of the materials would go up to 12k, it would be fine and I wouldn't complain at all, but this really doesn't make any sense right now.
I'll probably quit too in the future, although I'm sad to leave my friends behind, I just can't waste hours of my life trying to get enough money to enjoy the game when I see a rich spoiled kid buying tons of packs and getting all the good stuff in seconds while I work hard (as I said before, I don't blame the people who do so, I just don't like the fact that it's being done).[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
I remember when gold was like 100k apiece.
Bought a panther for 700k
came back after several months and sold it for 1-1.5mil0 -
lol, a fail Veno.
Veno doesnt really need a good Gear except if you're into PvP/PK or really damn noob at PvE at your level and got hit and die often by mobs.
you can go in naked Gear only wearing NPC weapon and you're good to make money around as a Veno.
If he want to compete or look good like other shiny pixels, it's a diff story, have to invest more^^0 -
OMG u guys act like its the end of the world. Boutique items are all accessories to the game. U dont need any of it to actually play and have fun. If u think its too high, just play without itb:surrender The only difference is u wont have a tome, fashion and refinements on ur gear.0

When I was a young BM we had to walk barefoot in the snow uphill to get anywhere in PW...b:angryRetired

Fiery_Demon I have to disagree with you. I don't open packs or spend money, and I love them. Obviously you've never had to deal with a cleric's mana consumption; herb yuanxiao is a godsend, especially when it's as cheap as it is now.
I am well familiar with the economy in this game; packs did not "ruin" it, they merely inflated gold prices. At the same time, they pumped massive quantities of coin into the economy. I'm not getting rich like I was for jolly jones event last summer, but I'm still raking in huge profits.
Also, TT mat prices and the like have gone down because of server timeline: more people farming TT = more mats available = more supply, less demand = lower price. As for mats like steel, lumber, etc., bounty hunter quests have mostly to do with that. Before bounty hunter, people never needed high/special mats for anything except the occasional FB and the odd crafting run; Now they are consumed in mass quantities daily.0 -

Everyone has different wiews about the packs, for those who buy gold they're good, for those who can't buy gold, they're bad.
The "greedy folks" who upset the gold prices due to the packs are non-cash shoppers who use coin on AH to buy gold to buy the packs. So in this case the harm you claim is self-inflicted. There's a saying about lotteries among statisticians: They're a tax on stupid people. The packs are pretty much a lottery. And one other thing I don't understand is, why do all the stuff like materials (TT, FF and other materials too), herbs and items you can get from the game itself not the boutique, keep going cheaper while the gold prices are rising? For gold prices to go down, one or all of three things have to happen:- The amount of coin in the game has to go down. This means more coin sinks like the 3 mil entry fee for Lunar, 600k fee for trophy mode; fewer coin sources like best luck tokens and double drop events. Rampant inflation is what you get when you keep getting something for nothing.
- Fewer people have to want to buy gold. This means fewer sales on cash shop items, no new mounts, fashion, etc.
- More people have to want to sell gold. This means the game needs more of the cash shoppers you seem to hate and want to blame for all the game's problems.
Disclaimer: I've only spent $10 on this game for a super inventory stone.0 - The amount of coin in the game has to go down.
