Gold is now 360k per gold at gold trading booth

I just looked at the auctioneer price for gold trading in Archosaur and it was around 360 thousand in-game coins per gold. The price last time I remembered was an average of 250 thousand in-game coins, and this was only a few weeks ago mind you. I had saved up approximately 1.8 million in-game coins through relentless grinding and now I come to find out it was all in vain. I don't know who exactly is raising the price of gold in the gold trading booth (more than likely one of the several uncool factions that troll the game and spam the world chat with petty insults and useless babble, but I digress), but I can't play this game anymore. RL money doesn't go far in the cash shop, and now I come to see that in-game grinding is becoming more difficult and overall pointless since the price for gold at the auctioneer keeps getting jacked up. At this rate, in a few weeks gold might be 500k per gold. I think if that were to happen many people would just up and leave, like I did. I was so disappointed at those prices and seeing them rise another 10k before I left that I just gave up and uninstalled the game. I can't imagine grinding for over 300k per gold, just to go back and see the price rise once again. I was planning on putting 20 dollars in the game but what would that have gotten me? 1 super inventory stone, a couple of charms and some sockets maybe? Maybe a teleacoustic or 3 if I had anything left. Not worth it.

Guess you didn't see gold go past 550k on some servers? Everyone is still here... mostly.

360k is cheap, be thankful its that low. Also I don't think it will go much higher then that within the next 2 weeks.

its a myriad of dim witted players willing to satiate the greed of the carpet bagging merchants among the servers. they buy low, and high ball when sales come. morons with quite a bit of coin want to gamble their savings away willingly divulge. this directly affects those of us who have needs for CS items such as charms and have to buy via coins.

if people would for one second realize they bolster their own gold prices with their willingness to partake in this vicious circle of supply and demand based on greed, then the aggregate of the community suffers.

blame players, blame mercantilism, blame stupidity.

Yep, on Dreamweaver, it's 330k-ish last time I checked. That's kind of low considering how people it was 280k average before packs (as in before Friday).

Anyways, gold is controlled by the players. When it's Supply > Demand, gold prices drop. When it's Supply < Demand, gold prices rise. This being said though, gold prices will always be at a minimum of 200k now (due to chest of coins).

Yes sir. Gold prices are reduced drastically since the last anniversary pack sale. On HT gold is selling for around 400K but during past events it was selling anywhere between 420 and 500K.

So overall, 360K is nothing to panic about.

Every time the packs come out there is less of a aura about them, so not as many people are staying up all night and throwing their lives away to buy just 1 more pack. Unless they make a new pack altogether (no doubt they will) each time they are released gold prices will rise a little less each time. So after a few more they will hardly effect gold prices at all.

RL money doesn't go far in the cash shop...
Now, I love a good QQ as much as the next guy, but I have to congratulate this guy for going the extra mile.

First he complains the coin-to-Gold ratio is too low (ie. "buying Gold with in-game money is too expensive, wah!"), but then he does an intricate logical back-flip by complaining that the coin-to-Gold ratio is too high (ie. "Gold isn't worth enough in-game money, wah!") as well.

So basically, I think his real argument is that he wants all that stuff that's in the cash-shop, but he's upset about paying for it with either real-life money or in-game money. I guess that makes sense and is understandable, but the problem is that there are tons of others who want the exact same thing, which is why there's competition and people out-bid each other on prices.
its a myriad of dim witted players willing to satiate the greed of the carpet bagging merchants among the servers. they buy low, and high ball when sales come. morons with quite a bit of coin want to gamble their savings away willingly divulge. this directly affects those of us who have needs for CS items such as charms and have to buy via coins.
I'm puzzled by the use of the term "carpet bagger", since Sanctuary has always been my home server, and I don't see much point in merchanting on a server I don't play on.

But anyway, your "need" of CS items can't really compete with the Coral Packs, and unless PWI decides to take them out permanently then there's not much point in slandering the people who buy them. They're just choosing to buy the best item, and it's kinda self-absorbed to blame them for doing so.

I've never opened a Coral Pack, but they're obviously the most valuable thing in the cash-shop right now so I buy/sell them. I don't think they're good for the game as a whole, but if PWI puts them in then I understand and accept that they are going to be the thing that determines Gold prices.

And as for greed, it's funny, but most of my competitors suffer from greed which causes them to refuse to pay-more/sell-for-less. This lets me give the best prices and makes me rich. So by choosing to be less greedy than the next guy (but, I still fully admit, I'm still being greedy) I'm making a fortune.

HT gold was down to 375k yesterday (haven't checked today). 370k was about where it was 3 weeks ago (when plat charms were on sale) and I started converting my coin to gold. Between then, it dropped as low as 320k.
I've never opened a Coral Pack, but they're obviously the most valuable thing in the cash-shop right now so I buy/sell them.
And there you have the reason the price of gold is not as high as it's been in previous times the packs were out. Anyone who's done a little math has figured out the coral packs are worse than the anniversary packs, and in most cases are not worth the money. The sales of coral packs are basically due to people who haven't figured this out, which is becoming a smaller and smaller fraction of the population, meaning less demand for them, meaning fewer gold purchases, meaning lower prices on gold.

While I agree they're not as good, they're also much cheaper. I personally don't know if Coral @350k is better/worse than Anniversary @425k, but I can say that sales and profits are greater with the Coral packs.

    - EDIT -

Something else that's interesting to note is that the Anniv Packs have something of a mystique about them that Coral doesn't. The day after Coral came out for the first time my girlfriend was still able to sell her Anniv Packs for 50% more than the price of Coral, and I really doubt they're that much better.

In regards to Anni Packs versus Corals, depending on the item you are aiming to achieve, they are that much better.

Scroll of Tome in Packs was... what... 0.01%? Something really stupid like that?
In Coral it went to something like 0.002% or something even more ridiculous.

So while you still need assloads of Packs/Corals to get a Scroll of Tome, the maths suggests you need less Packs than Corals, and for some people this is the only reason they need to splash out more on the Anni Packs than the Corals.

That said, while I haven't been able to do much buying and selling of anything yet, because I am **** at merchanting (sadly) and have yet to get the market down to a finer art (my only hope right now is the buying and selling of tokens and that's a long term investment because there's going to be a lot around after this sale) I have noticed that Corals seem to be bringing more money in than Packs.

Perhaps the higher chance to get tokens, charms and some gems is more appealing to the player base, as many already have their uber rare items? Dunno, just a theory.

First of all, I'm not a "he", I'm a she.

Secondly, I said nothing about selling cash shop gold, I said CS gold doesn't go far for buying ITEMS in the cash shop, which is true. I don't buy vanity items, just essentials, but it's f'ing killing me. I have spent RL money on this game already, so this impression you're trying to give that I'm some cheap **** that wants everything for free is presumptuous, condescending and flat out wrong and I don't appreciate it.

Thirdly, grinding has become unnerving and boring, which since the gold crunch has been my forced routine to keep up. I saved up for charms and I was going to use RL money to expand my inventory to max capacity and other items to prepare for my first FB (which I was hoping to go solo) but I can't do that now since the prices are out of control and I can't afford the essentials I need.

Just because I complain about the high prices doesn't mean I have to just "suck it up and deal with it". What happened to listening to the demands of customers? Since when did paying people like myself have to buckle down and bow down to developers just to have a decent game? I don't make enough money to shell out literally hundreds of dollars just to keep up. Sorry I don't make 100k a week in real life like you do.

QQ I don't want to grind like every other player.

↑ That's pretty much what I got from that post.

Oh, and also, what is this hilarious talk of getting an inventory extension stone for your first FB? I mean, seriously? Just use your bank and inventory like everybody else does at level 19 or whatever level you are, at that level your inventory just does not fill up that quickly.

You complain that you don't want to grind because you find it boring. Well that's not the fault of the people who organise sales. That's not the fault of the merchants, who have learned that you don't even need to grind if you can play the market correctly. I don't like grinding either. Am I complaining about it and the inflation? No.

I'm learning how to use the market. Admittedly I might need to grind up one million coins to start me off, but if I can make triple that in a week, then I made profit and I didn't have to grind for it.

Your own attitude is condescending. You want X and Y but you do not want to work for it? Grow up.

Based on my reckoning of the market prices, the anniv pack is worth some 40%-50% more than the coral pack. However, the anniv packs had a 0.215% chance to give you the really good prizes that everyone wanted (stuff with a value over ~25 mil). The coral packs only have a 0.092% chance to give these high-value prizes. So for people wanting those high-value prizes, then anniv pack is worth more than 2x the coral pack. (Not that I recommend opening them as a way to get these prizes.)

I suppose PWE thought they were being clever by making something which looked like a popular item, cost the same, but gave fewer high-value prizes. It worked at first, but the market figures these things out and the prices dropped accordingly.
Something else that's interesting to note is that the Anniv Packs have something of a mystique about them that Coral doesn't. The day after Coral came out for the first time my girlfriend was still able to sell her Anniv Packs for 50% more than the price of Coral, and I really doubt they're that much better.
The day after coral packs came out, nobody knew what the probabilities were for getting the different prizes. The probabilities for the anniv packs were well known by that point. My guess would be people were willing to pay a premium to eliminate that source of risk.

I've played this game for about a year. Getting money has always been easy; packs, in all their iterations, have not changed that. People who are poor are either A) stupid, B) lazy, or C) just don't care.

Stupid because they can't figure out simple money making schemes; lazy because they want everything given to them and don't want to work for anything; don't care because if they did, they would do something about it instead of complaining in a forum.

I hate giving away my precious secrets, but I will share one with all of you. On Dreamweaver tokens can be bought for under 11.5k; teleacoustics can be sold for 13k EASILY. This is free money, all you need is a catshop. What more do you really want?

Ironically when tokens were available for 20k, you could sell telecoustics for 25k. It's so easy to take advantage of the people who want the things they want when they want it and can't be bothered to do five seconds worth of simple price checking.

Quite easy for a non-cash shop player to earn decent amounts of coin.
If there's one general rule, its that money earns more money.
Once you get a decent amount of starting coin and are relatively market savy, the money makes itself.
Just camp the AH, you'll find many great money making deals.
Yes, it does require patience and time, but you'll reap the rewards soon enough if you are diligent.

I agree that gold prices are far from being outrageously high. We've certainly seen much worse. The OP's lack of experience is no reason to entirely dismiss her argument however. I have long argued casual players to be suffering from the current bias towards heavy CS use. I refuse, out of principle, to spend more money on this game than i would on a P2P. If you honestly believe PW to be on the same standard as recent MMO releases you obviously lack gaming experience.

MMOs, as a genre, are becoming increasingly ridiculous in terms of the amount of time/money they require from players. These days i find myself spending more time on my old TCG; After PW even mythic rares seem like a bargain, and skill still outweigths heavy spending...

And for those who think everyone can merchant go take a freking economics course. Your profit is somebody else's loss, you can't really expect everyone to succeed merchanting. I enjoy resource management and the ocasional bidding war but i didn't roll a char because i wanted to run a bussiness. There's a reason i pay a guy to handle my irl portfolio.

We don't think everybody can go merchant. I for one, for now anyway, do not merchant well because I don't have the time or patience to sit and study the market and gold prices.

However, this said, I will tell you bluntly that if you don't want to merchant, you have to do something else. This is probably going to end up being TT [which currently is almost a break-even business for some classes because of mat prices, and not the most profitable thing any more] or grinding.

Now if you complain that you won't merchant, but you don't want to grind or do something else, then I will call you out on being lazy, and tell you to grow up and learn you can't have it both ways.

[General you, not actually aimed at you in particular]

My problem is not that people can't merchant stuff. It is the people who won't, but refuse to do anything else either, and still claim that it's everyone else's fault that they are poor.

Don't care. I grind my **** off, at least 6 hours a day with little to no breaks.

Oh, and also, what is this hilarious talk of getting an inventory extension stone for your first FB? I mean, seriously? Just use your bank and inventory like everybody else does at level 19 or whatever level you are, at that level your inventory just does not fill up that quickly.

Easy for you to say with little to no common sense or knowledge of what lvl I'm on. I'm a lvl 43 veno and I run out of space extremely fast.

You complain that you don't want to grind because you find it boring. Well that's not the fault of the people who organise sales. That's not the fault of the merchants, who have learned that you don't even need to grind if you can play the market correctly.

Again, don't care. A game is SUPPOSED TO BE FUN. When it stops being fun, you know, the REASON you play a game to begin with, that's when it's time to uninstall.

I don't like grinding either. Am I complaining about it and the inflation? No.

That's on you. I'm complaining because the endless grind, expensive cash shop, repetitive and pointless quests and greedy vendors have rendered this game boring and unplayable. Plus there are BETTER P2P mmos out there, so because of that I'm not cutting PWI any slack.

I'm learning how to use the market. Admittedly I might need to grind up one million coins to start me off, but if I can make triple that in a week, then I made profit and I didn't have to grind for it.

Go ahead, right now that would probably only get you around 3-4 gold, which isn't even enough to buy a platinum charm. One star dragon orbs are 1 gold each, good luck upgrading your gear with that little amount of gold after hours of toil.

Your own attitude is condescending. You want X and Y but you do not want to work for it? Grow up.

I WORK HARD dammit! Very damn hard. I just don't want to see prices skyrocket when I have my mind set on getting more items to improve armor and weapons. What part of "I GRIND ENDLESSLY" do you not understand? It's too much, and it's effing BORING.

I've played this game for about a year. Getting money has always been easy; packs, in all their iterations, have not changed that. People who are poor are either A) stupid, B) lazy, or C) just don't care.

People who are poor are stupid and lazy? I guess being a trust fund baby makes it easy for you to say that. I work in real life and (up until now) in this game. I'm FAR from stupid or lazy, but I am BORED with this repetitive, dead end game that you idiots keep defending tooth-and-nail.

Stupid because they can't figure out simple money making schemes; lazy because they want everything given to them and don't want to work for anything; don't care because if they did, they would do something about it instead of complaining in a forum.

Why should I bust my **** (which I've done since I started this game), get little to no reward for it and NOT ENJOY a game just to accommodate you or the greedy developers that made this buggy inferior game? It's not like this is GW.

I sell items in AH fyi, so you're not saying anything I don't already know. Catshops in Arch (or any town that matters) are EVERYWHERE and the market is saturated.

Selling in the AH costs money, money alot of times I do not necessarily have because I'm trying to upgrade my gear for as much money as I can scrape together. Most of my items sell, but alot of times they don't, so that's more money down the damn drain.

I know the market, and it's becoming more difficult to for people that buy gold in game and buy gold with RL money but can't afford to spend 400+ dollars like many of you can to keep up.

I hate giving away my precious secrets, but I will share one with all of you. On Dreamweaver tokens can be bought for under 11.5k; teleacoustics can be sold for 13k EASILY. This is free money, all you need is a catshop. What more do you really want?

    I'm not on Dreamweaver a-sshole!

Don't care. I grind my **** off, at least 6 hours a day with little to no breaks.

Poor you. Do you think you're the only one?

Easy for you to say with little to no common sense or knowledge of what lvl I'm on. I'm a lvl 43 veno and I run out of space extremely fast.

Again, poor you. I can't really say I care, I never ran out of space that fast at that level.

Again, don't care. A game is SUPPOSED TO BE FUN. When it stops being fun, you know, the REASON you play a game to begin with, that's when it's time to uninstall.

If it's that much of a chore for you, then quit.

That's on you. I'm complaining because the endless grind, expensive cash shop, repetitive and pointless quests and greedy vendors have rendered this game boring and unplayable. Plus there are BETTER P2P mmos out there, so because of that I'm not cutting PWI any slack.

If there are better games out there, then... go play those instead? Why are you still here if PWI is that bad for you to play?

Go ahead, right now that would probably only get you around 3-4 gold, which isn't even enough to buy a platinum charm. One star dragon orbs are 1 gold each, good luck upgrading your gear with that little amount of gold after hours of toil.

LOL! You realise that you only need two gold and an idea of when to sell and when to buy to start making profits? One million coins gets me two gold. I sell that one gold for, say, 350k. Then I go and buy one gold at, say, 320k. Then I sell that one gold again, at 350k. It's long and hard but it's called profit. My apologies you were two dumb to not realise how easy it is to buy and sell gold and you assumed I was only going to use that one million coins to buy gold, to buy something from the CS. Idiot.

I WORK HARD dammit! Very damn hard. I just don't want to see prices skyrocket when I have my mind set on getting more items to improve armor and weapons. What part of "I GRIND ENDLESSLY" do you not understand? It's too much, and it's effing BORING.

THEN GO QUIT IF IT'S THAT BAD. Geez, you're repeating how bad it is over and over again and you haven't quit yet?

People who are poor are stupid and lazy? I guess being a trust fund baby makes it easy for you to say that. I work in real life and (up until now) in this game. I'm FAR from stupid or lazy, but I am BORED with this repetitive, dead end game that you idiots keep defending tooth-and-nail.

If you are bored, then, again, quit. How many times does this need to be hammered into your head that if you are that bored, get up and freakin' leave for one of the better games you apparently have found. We won't give a damn, and will be glad to see you go.

And I didn't even read the rest of your QQ post.

Seriously, GTFO and don't hit your head on the way out.

Only a relatively small part of the playerbase can succesfully merchant. Grinding is mind numbingly boring. Charging zen in reasonable, moderate amounts won't get you very far. What's left? Farming instances? Most DD classes are lucky if they get half the mats they need for their own gear...

Yes, even on an MMO success is the product of hard work, i won't argue that. But there is such a thing as balance, and right now this game rewards mostly merchants/heavy CS users. It's not unreasonable to complaint about the status quo given that there's good cause to do so. It's all i'm saying.

Edit; And grinding 6+ hours a day? WTF? I would certainly have more than enough coin to meet all my needs if i had the time/patience to do that...
