hi guys,
as I want to start a wizzy
I've got some questions:
1. I was thinking about 4 magic and 1 vit every lvl..
does this sound like a good idea? also every now and then I add a str point to wield my weapons needed.
2. are there any skills I really should NOT upgrade? maybe the lvl 1 skill Pyrogram?
and are there any I should NOT even buy?
Ty for your help

1.thats good if you want the xtra surviablilty but stop at 50 vit and you would have to do 4 mage 1 vit da first lvl and the next lvl do 4 mage 1 str or every 2 levels do 8 magic 1 vit and 1 str. im a pure because i dnt wanna re stat at 100 or watever so ya
2.read the guides but my pyrogram is still lvl 1 but i will probaly level it once i get the demon/sage book for it...im still deciding which way to go ive looked at da skills on ecatomb and well demon seems the better option and i think its a bit silly to go sage for 1 skill0 -
First off welcome to the Wizzy world. Adding vitality will help your survivability as a wiz but I agree that you probably don't want to add much more than 50. At that point your attacks will really start to suffer. You also want to make sure you have enough str for weapons and armor. For this you'll need 1 str every other level. Dex isn't particularly useful unless you go light armor but I did put 15 points to get that extra crit percent.
As far as skills go, this is where every wiz will be different. I personally went mostly fire and water with very little earth spells. There are a few skills that will be helpful no matter what your build is. I'll tell you what skills I use the most and you can decided whether you want to use them or not.
Pyrogram - yep it's your first spell but I love it and so maxed it. It casts quickly and has a fairly low mana cost compared to other skills of similar damage.
Divine Pyrogram - this is my starting spell. For me it usually hits about 12k damage for a good start but its long cast time keeps me from using it in the middle of my rotation
Gush - I believe a must have for every wizard. It casts fast, does decent damage, and slows the enemy giving you more chances to fire before the mob is on you
Pheonix - a lot of people like to use distance shrink (blink) to kite but I prefer this spell instead. This does fire damage and knocks the enemy back. When using distance shrink to jump back away from the mob I tended to jump into other monsters so switched over to this spell. You do have to be careful about knocking back the enemy too far and hitting another mob so that's why I don't have this one maxed.
Force of Will - while this spell doesn't do any damage it interrupts the enemies attack and forces them to run backwards for a short time. This spell is great for magic monsters that get in range pretty quickly or hit a bit harder.
Shields - all of the shields have their uses but I find I use the water shield almost 90% of the time so I have it maxed. The physical defense shield is great too especially at low lvls when most of the monsters are physical. I use the water shield for its mana regeneration so I don't have to rest or use pots much and I try not to let the mobs hit me making the physical shield less useful than the water. I do recommend maxing both. The fire shield I really only use when tanking a fire boss or when grinding on foxwings at lower lvls.
Wellspring - This spell increases your max mana pool for a certain amount of time. I got it to lvl 5 for essential sutra and I'll probably max it when I've upgraded other more useful spells. It's not required but I find it nice to have a much larger mana pool.
Morning Dew - this is the wizard's ghetto healing spell. I'd recommend getting it but keeping it at a low lvl. It heals a good bit but is way to slow to use in battle. I use it after a fight to replenish hp. I've also used it to heal the tank in a TT when the cleric DC but I would not recommend this unless needed.
Essential sutra - I don't use this spell a whole lot since I only have 2 sparks now but I think it will be much more useful after 89 cult and you get a 3rd spark. For now I mainly use it in connection with morning dew. Sutra reduces channeling time to 0 for a few seconds allowing you to rapid fire skills. I mostly use it if I notice our cleric having trouble keeping up with the tank. I can cast sutra and shoot off about 4-5 dews basically filling the barbs hp again.
Ultimates - Black Ice Dragon and Blade Tempest (haven't tried mountain sieze) - These are the big boys. I highly recommend getting blade tempest as half of it's damage is physical (the only physical damage dealing spell for wizards). I also use black ice dragon depending on the element of the boss or mobs I'm fighting plus I think it's one of the coolest looking skills in the game.
I know a lot of other people use stone rain and sandstorm and love them but like I said, I mostly went the fire and water route so can't comment on them.
Anywho these are some of my thoughts but I definately suggest that you just play around and find out what you like to use. Good luck with your wizard.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Sandstorm is not THAT usefull unless you grind at water mobs.
The amount of BHs in PWI right now makes grinding obsolete (and basically forces you to either TT like mad - rarely happens- or to put RL cash to buy/sell gold - often happens).
Stonerain on the other hand is one of the great skills a wizard has and it's one of the 3 base skills you MUST have at 89, regardless of cultivation. LvL 11 sage Stonerain hits about as hard as a lvl 10 Sandstorm with less channel+Cast. For sage it becomes almost a spam skill, for demons becomes a gamble on stunning someone..____________
