Petite Sawfly for pve too?

i know petite sawflies r good for pvp but im wondering are they good for quests/grinding too?

    It depends on playstyle. For PvE a Sawfly is generally considered a good attacker but fragile. Foxwings are more ressilient at the cost of damage. Still, i would in no way recommend you keeping 2 air pets. Quests that require you going after flying mobs are few and far between, and flying pets are generally harder to level. A sawfly will be able to handle pretty much everything on the PvE side, so if you've got one already for PvP you shouldn't bother with an extra air pet.

    Foxwings have only slightly more hp and mdef. But they have moderately lower pdef and much lower attack. They are simply worse than a sawfly overall. Really, the only reason to get a foxwing is because you can't stand the sight of wasps. And if that's your hangup, get the new skatefish instead.

    Aside from the phoenix, the only air pet which is tank-worthy is the rare flying pig. But it has lousy attack (partially offset by it coming with the Howl skill, which lowers target mdef).

    One slight note. While before air pets were harder to level than other pets thanks to the tideborn there is a new mob called Staunch Worm that you can use to level up air pets that I have found works better than rat bashing.

    That is how I lvled my Wimble Goldwing.

    Thanks for the corrections Solandri and Shiga. Many air mobs do seem to focus mostly on mag attacks and Foxwings do come with a very nice skill set (Flesh Ream, Howl, Thunderbolt) so they're pretty good for people who just want a PvE pet to use for quests. And while Staunch Worms are great for leveling air pets, it does seem a bit slower than using the Cube for land pets.

    But yeah, i do stand corrected.
