First timer advice

Well I've decided to start playing PW and I know absolutely nothing about it. What would be recommended as a first time job? Whatever I pick, I'll look up builds later. I'm particularly looking for a fun job with pretty cool and flashy skills. Any help will be awesome! Thanks~

definitely check out the money making portion of this section because it will definitely help, as well as the abbreviations. as far as what class to be, go to the class discussion section of the forums to research and see what you would like to play.0

Yeah, I've been reading around but I'm still not sure. What class would you consider to be the most fun?0
-
Most fun? IMO Blademaster. As an axe BM, you'll have one of the most flashy skills in the game: Heaven's Flame =D
Once a DD sees those flaming dragons encircling you, they'll unleash their full power, cos Heaven's Flame amplifies damage.
Most fun cos you can tank or DD as a BM. You're not wanted as much in parties, but everyone loves a good stunlocker to fill up spots in parties.
Also, you can use all 4 types of melee weps if you build yourself right. So that's cool as well.
But you don't have to listen to me. I'm just saying my opinion. Do some research on your kind of class and then decide.
Good luck and welcome to the gameCharacters:

There aren't THAT many classes. They're all fine for new players to pick, you just need to choose the one that suits your play style the best.
I suggest playing one for 5 or 10 levels - if you don't get that far, then you can say "Ok, I don't like this" and try another.
Shouldn't take you long to settle on one you enjoy.
Veno's and psychics have it by far the easiest in the early levels.
Clerics (especially) and barbarians are ALWAYS in demand for groups.
Wizards don't come into their own until the late-game.0 -
I don't really like doing that, it makes me feel like I'm doing a whole lot more work than necessary, even though it's only lvl 10. That's why I wanted to hear other peoples' opinions of what character they like the best, so I can get a quick summary of each class in one topic, instead of going back and forth between threads trying to compare tow of them0

In that case, go read the class forums.

You should be able to hit lvl 10 in less than 2 hours or so. You wont have to grind AT ALL during that time. Just do the quests given to you, and youll lvl up very quickly. But, as for the individual classes:
Blademasters (BM): melee Damage Dealer (DD). Uses heavery armor, and has a decent amount of hp. Very Strong phys def, but weak magic def. Can use axes/hammers (for AoE atks), swords (for 1v1 atks), polearms (long reach and 1v1), and fists/claws (very high atk rate, but low dmg per hit). A jack of all trades class, can tank, DD, and run crowd control in dungeons. Good beginning choice, as its rather difficult to mess up.
Barbarians (barbs): Prime tank in PWI. Very high hp, and many skills that keep mobs/bosses focused on you. Very strong phys def, but weak magic def. Limited to Axe/Hammer weapons. Awesome tank. Only downside is that you have rather low accuracy, till the mid 70s, when you can get equipment that ups your accuracy by 50%. A rather expensive class to play, due to armor repairs, and hp replenishment items. 1 of 2 classes garunteed a spot in any dungeon run.
Clerics: Prime healing class in PWI. Most heals, and buffs of any class. Can use either robes or Light Armor, based on build. Robe builds have greater healing ability, and individual spell dmg. Light Armor build has better survivability, especially against ranged atks and physical AoEs, and greater critical hit dmg. A magic using class, it has a nice array of atks and curses, as well as its healing ability. Also an expensive class to play later on, due to the usage of mp replenishment items. 1 or 2 classes garunteed a spot in any dungeon run.
Wizard (Wiz): Main magic using DD class. Very powerful spells, which come at the cost of survivablity, unless you go with a Light Armor build, which cuts into your DDing ability. Not much use aside from DDing, except for the rare magic using boss they are needed to tank. WARNING: Wizs do not come into their own till endgame. If you start one, you will be very squishy for most of the game.
Venomancers (Venos): Pet using class. Pet tanks, while veno heals/DDs on mobs/bosses. Good for solo players, and making money later on. Very low repair costs, and hp/mp costs. Only class which can use atk pets.
Archers: Ranged phys DD class. Has a very long reach, and VERY high critical hit rate, as well as a nice rate of atk. Very good at PvP later on.
Assassins (Sins): New melee using class. Uses Light Armor, which means it is somewhat lacking in the phys def department. Like Archer, has high rate of atk, high crit hit rate, and good dmg. Large number of self-buffs, and few, but nice, enemy debuffs. Only class which can go invisible, which is only useful in PvP later on.
Psychics (Psys): New magic using class. Becomes a 2-3 hit killer early on, due to self buff. Rather fast casting, but doesnt hit the dmg potential a Wiz does in end game at this time (lack of Demon/Sages is primary cause {Demon/Sage is something you choose at lvl 89, and tweaks your skills based on which side you picked}).
Hope this wall of text gives you a bit of an idea of each class.0 -
Thanks! That really helps a lot. I'm debating between archer and assassin because I love crit damage. I'll probably pick archer because of the flying capability right at the beginning. Also, I know that Winged Elves fly, humans like ride on swords or something, untamed fly on mounts, what is the Tideborn's special ability?0

tideborns have another variety of wings but have to wait till lvl30 to get the ones for free, elves are still the only race that starts with them
http://www.ecatomb.net/flight-t.phplvl101 LA/AA demon veno ftw, 15251 hp buffed, 13508 buffed pdef in human. able to use tt100 fists at 5 aps w/ genie. all from 2 years of work... WASTED

was fun while it lasted0 -
So basically they use wings like Winged Elves?0

Flying is not a special ability and just requires wings. Tideborn wings are some plastic looking...thing or wings, whatever they are. They just get them at lvl 30, like the other races apart from Winged Elves.
They can turn into Tideborn form the way Untamed turns into True Form though.codefantasy wrote: »I'm particularly looking for a fun job with pretty cool and flashy skills.CodeFantasy - Heavens Tear wrote: »I'm debating between archer and assassin because I love crit damage. Flashy skills definitely go to assassins; they seem to constantly rebuff themselves every half a minute or 3-10 minutes. I have only played my assassin to lvl 20, so I cannot speak for higher lvl sins. It's a pain to take damage and be in the frontlines though, at least for me.
I've played my archer to lvl 49, and so far I like it. Crits are one thing, the range is another. Unlike during the lower lvls, I'm taking little to no dmg and I kill things fast. In squad, I find it very relaxing as long as I'm just picking off dying mobs, fighting the tank's mobs, and not drawing aggro all over the place.
All that I've said is personal preference. I've seen assassins who take damage pretty well and they love their class, but between archer and assassin, I pick archer to be out of harm's way and to incur less repair cost.0 -
Yeah, I made an archer and I'm liking it so far. I can't wait to get the better skills. I heard they are pretty cool.0

The big thing with archers is make damn sure ye never run out of ammo. Doesnt happen often, but it sucks when youre in the middle of a BH run, and the archer runs outta ammo. b:laugh0
