Update won't occur.

The other day when I finished downloading the client I made a character, then logged off. Now when I tried to log in it says that the client is running but won't proceed with the update. I've read around but I'm not sure with patcher to download. Can someone help? And since I'm already making a post, another quick question. If I make a character in a PvE server, will I have to make another one in a PvP server? Or will it just transfer? Thanks!

    you'll have to make a new character for each server

    You didn't just exit did you ? Restart your cpu if you haven't that solves a lot of weird pw problems for me.

    The "Client Running/Unable to Update" message appears when you attempt to launch or patch the game while it is already running. First, check the system tray to see if the has been minimized there. This is usually a result of trying to close the game via alt+F4 or the X in the corner of the window; the only way to properly exit the game is to do so from the in-game menu. If the game has not been minimized, go to the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del and end any instances you see of patcher.exe, launcher.exe, elementclient.exe, and pwprotector.exe, then try again.

    Lol, that's probably the problem. Yesterday night, I was in a hurry and just clicked the X in the menu screen. I ended up reinstalling it. So anyways, thanks for the answer! b:laugh
