Hey Wiz community!

I was wondering how many people find Crown of Flames and Pitfall to be useful. I know that they are great when trying to not get aggro, but I don't really have a problem with aggro management (learned that fast. lol.) So how many people find those two spells to be good? Looking for both a PvE and PVP perspective. Thanks!

I find it VERY useful. I like it very much. I still don't have sage version of this spells but I'm planning to buy it as soon as possible. Usually I'm using it against magic resistance mobs after undine. Because higher damage persist after undine is gone. Also in BH bosses. Thanks to their low channeling time you have higher DPS than with GS,or SS.
    On bosses I use sage phonenix,sage gush,sage stone,and pitfall + crown.
On long run like TT I add sage pyro for chi.
But at your lv. keep it on lv. 1. for now.
In PvP maybe they can be also useful but I have no real experience yet.

its no too much usefull (i got both in sage version) except if u need fast skill ( when need only a low dmg to mob die) or if i use spark burts then its ok.
in longer boss killing i use the fast skills instant skills i try combine the pyro+gush+pyro+pittfall+pyro+crown+pyro+chi gainer+pyro+gush etc, for fast chi gaining but mainly i use only pyro+gush.

in pvp its sucks, max if u use against 6x the both sage dots without weapon then its fun XD

I have crown at 10 and pitfall at 7 and I use them as fillers in my TT macros to make it cheaper xD. They gain chi decently fast and an added debuff/DoT thing on the boss looks good to the other people :p. I can pretty much do TT runs for free while using my macro with that and sage pyrogram in it because of sage spark, quite nice b:laugh

So at my level should I start leveling them or hold off? Both are still just at lvl 1, but CoF could have been maxed a few levels ago while Pitfall's max is @ lvl 64.

Don't level them now. You have time to level them at 85+.

Hmmm I leveled pitfall to 11 and I kind of regret it. It's really cheap to get to 10, so that's not a big deal, but lvl 11 costs 1.5m SP and coin and I didn't think it was really worth it. My pitfall ticks players for 60-100 in PvP which is pretty negligable. I wouldn't bother with the spells.

for me costed 1m only since its lv89 skill and all lv89 is 1m (all skill from bh89-99 is lv89 skill, only lv92 craftable skill is 1,5m and 2m the lv99) - (but u have right, if somebody have any hope with this skills in pvp and learn it then will wonder how sucks, only fun with that when u wear off the weapon and put to low lv's in tw)

only reason why i learned: i want learn all sage skill, i got moistcuring too, what is sucks but when i get enough spirit i will learn (y, i am 94 and i got problem with spirit and i dont used for genie)

Maybe is not so bad. It you consider that is ticks maybe 6-7x. It's quite nice damage or am I wrong?

    a 6x-7x is 1 shot when u are 9x.

with spark burst quite good but still not really amazing (in that what hurt is the instant dmg part not the dot)

True but it has low channeling time. Once you launch it you don't have to care about it. It will do its job and you can continue. I like it for sure. Also is good finisher spell on mobs. Wizard is great to play, because we have lot of choices. b:laugh

The problem with our DoTs is that they deal a good deal less damage than our normal attack spells. You can see this here with pyrogram vs. Crown (both lvl10):

    Pyrogram:
Inflicts Fire damage equal to 100% of
weapon damage plus base magic damage plus 1379.6.

    Crown:
Fire damage equal to base magic damage plus 3012.9
    over 15 seconds.

You have more fire damage on Crown, but you are completely missing the weapon damage. At lower lvl that might result in a similar amount of damage, but with better weapons and ++, Crown will hit a LOT less than pyro, at the same casting time.

Sadly, this makes our DoTs rather useless. The same thing goes for Pitfall.

I actually do use Crown of Flame, but i have it still at lvl1.
It still deals basic magic damage and costs like no mana. I use it to finish off mobs with a little hp left, whacking guildies after BH parties and roasting the occasional chicken. b:laugh

yeah, both DoT are quite good for finishing mobs or in TT runs since the dmg is decent (base magic dmg with a +10 weapon is more than 12k)....I mean, yes, you hit 16k with gush and 12k with CoF, but Gush costs 300 MP and CoF costs 50. As a fill in in a gush/pyro combo that's not viable after you get some channeling is quite nice.
Set a gush/pyro/Cof combo, start it on a boss in TT and go grab a soda or somethin', if the boss doesn't have a AoE interrupt, you're set.

I like CoF and Pitfall. I maxed both of mine. Should have maybe left them at lvl 1 due to the minimal amount of mana to cast, 30-40 mana I think? I think it's about 250 or so now per spell.

Edit: But that would gimp the range, so scratch that.

...... but Gush costs 300 MP and CoF costs 50.......

    i got lv11 CoF and pitfall 265/320 mana :P

i think most of ppl later want collect all skill so this good reason.

the addon is pretty low if target got atleast 50%+ def, output dmg maybe similiar if longer killing.

I just use pitfall and crown as finishers for mobs. I left them both at level 1. (Although you might wanna raise pitfall up because 15% chance to freeze is better than 6%.)

I use them on TT bosses because I'm too cheap to mp pot. Pyro->CoF->Pyro->Pitfall->>triple spark for mp.

If I had the v11 pitfall book, I'd learn it for kicks. But then again, I'd do the same with emberstorm.

pve: no damage reduction against questionmark bosses + it looks cool ~.^

pvp: fighting charmed barbs and bms in the lower lvls. cast CoF and pitfall kite a bit then spark and start channeling a nuke + extreme poision right before charm ticks, will give you time to get 1 more attack off before next charm ticksb:surrender if they dont die, please walk to the nearst sz..
