Can't decide between Barbarian or Dual-Axe Blademaster for Alt..BM's do more damage..but are nowhere near as good at tanking as Barbs, right? As i have Veno main only have spare time to lvl 1 alt and wouldn't really want to lvl 2 melee alts anyway would be too similar. So basically.. Barb or BM, pros and cons, discuss. :)

There is a vast difference between barbs and bms in hp, however the biggest difference is the barb can tank far better then the bm as it can hold aggro much better then the bm.

The bm is a damage dealing, stunning, aoe striking melee class with axes, and normally a class at which you use more then one weapon type which may get expensive and complicated.

    But basically, barb=tank, bm=gank.

    Bare Essentials;

    Barbs
Massive hp (hp buff + tiger form)
    Flesh Ream (Aggro grab/hold)

    Blademasters
    Super AoE efficiency
    Great DD or secondary Tank
    Efficient stunning

Now up till about lvl 80 or 90, the game works out in this type of manner.
Though after, playstyles and gear play a major effect, but still follow a similar manner.

Barbs will continue to be dominant in hp and yes are better tanks due because thats what they're made for, (invoke, godly hp, flesh ream).
However that being said, they aren't as "essential" for late game as other characters can take on the "tank" role, whether it be a blade master, herc, or magic character for magic bosses.
With the reference to aggro, end game barbs should be able to maintain a majority of aggro against other dd's.

Well geared Fist Bm's(however few there are) arguably have the highest dps, and while yes the barb can FR it back, it'll just keep going back to the fist bm, and clerics dont like aggro juggling =(.

To sum it up, go with the playstyle you want, if you want to be a the tank and have all the goodies that come with it (Person says:"BHxx/TT/FF squad LF BARB"), go with barb. If you want to have a arguably "funner" character go with the flexible bm.

I have played both bm and barb till lvl 89/90 respectively, my verdict is I like playing the bm better, but if there is somethind i "need" such as ttmats or to tank a wb, i just switch it over to the barb. (account stash ftw?)

There are bosses that a barb absolutely needs to tank if memory serves, this aswell as better group aggro holding ability whilst also having better single target holding ability, why do I say this? Because I have held aggro against fist bms, axe bms, psychics and just about every class there is and hold aggro solid as long as they are less then 5 levels above me.... An example is as follows.

We were running through an fb59 for a faction member, the squad for damage dealers had 2 psys and a bm, both psys possessing black voodoo. The bm already told me he wished to pull aggro and he tried his best, double sparking, switching to calams and using the most damaging skills with high crit. The aggro held solid on me even whilst only using FR half as often as I could as to conserve chi(due to the lack of venos in the squad).

Nothing is better at tanking besides specific situations then a barb.

Bm's are fantastic in Midgame thru engame
barbarian gets better in higher lvl's

rly just depends on what u want,

and dont listen to ppl that say
    barb= and bm=,

    its all about the build.

you can aswell make a duel axe bm full vit
as u can make a fist barb. i'm just sayin'
    9x Barb
    6x Seeker
    6x BM
    6xCleric

I am a barbarian but I love squadding with BMs because they can cause a ton of crits when fighting a boss and they are right up in the battle. BMs are great DD in FC runs they can even substitute a barb in FC when pulling waves. A end-game fist BM can also have an attack of up to 5 attack/sec ...which is very hard for a Barb to hold aggro from especially with the critical strike rates.

It's actually really what u want. 1 thing i'll add on this, if u want to grind/lvl faster, dont go Barb, untill lvl80, its a really slow process (at least it was before the 100s of dayliesb:surrender)
Anyhow, if u build a tank-barb, be prepared to get the necessary eqipment, as a barb with bad equip, whatever stats he has, is a v bad tank. (we kinda got a plague of bad barbs now, having ppl lvling so fast and dont have time to farm good equip)(lol when u find a good barb, friend him, he's a rare breed)

If u make it as an alt which will just lvl up and do bh and such, go bm, u wont need to keep him as tuned up with equip.

Play both of them, up to you. Personally I chose barb over BM ingame, and BM over barb on forums b:laugh .

As a bm, its better to use more than 1 weapon... Axes alone? Why not be a barb then? Because pole / axe mix bm > axe bm.

Reason is that you have more AOEs than both pole and axes. Combining AOEs together

If you only want to be using axes, then I suggest you play a barb instead

Thanks for Flauschkatze for siggy b:cool

VIT > STR > DEX > MAG... GG
HA > LA > AR... GG

    HA + VIT = win b:bye

    In my opinion

    Pros

    BM

    Few stun skills
    Many Aoe skills
    Pretty good damage
    More skills
In combat summery:Takes them out before they take you out

    Barb
    Lots HP
    Few Aoe
    Pull aggro
Buff gives good HP gain to allies
In combat summery:Longer fight but low chance dieing

    Cons

    BM
    Less HP

    Barb
    Long fights

they both pretty good solo classes (not as good as veno some would say)

(there more cons but those stand out more to me just my opinion)

^ BMs have 3 stuns skills which together can stun up to 15 seconds.
