i'm a lvl 60 sin, up until now i have been shading with garnets. recently i've noticed that the mobs have been using more magic based attacks. my question is this; should i shard for hp, pdef, a mix, or elemental?

any advise is greatly appreciated. also any accounts of personal experience would be awesome.

thank you

    thanx for the reponse.
i happen to agree, yes the sexy hp rocks!

i'm asking primarily becuase i saw a 3* +1 lvl60 LA with all 5 mage risistances, as well as, 3 imaculate topaz for added earth resistance. it just made me wonder why? its a nice pcs of armor, but what might have been the reason for putting those shards instead of hp or pdef?

maybe had low earth res and needed more..
But I don't think shards add too much mag res so it wouldn't be too helpful, though
I could be wrong, never really looked at those kinda shards :P

Just like above poster said, either that person, for some apparent reason needed more earth resistance or... that was as nonsensical a socket(ing) as some of the gear pieces you see on AH, random players. Anyway, if you find a good enough armor, 3 star, legendary, green, go ahead and socket it up with citrines --- at least, average citrines and try to go higher once you have enough coin.

    +HP the way to go.

Think about it this way- +pdef lets you survive longer against PHYSICAL damage, while +hp lets you survive longer against ALL damage.

^true, but you also decrease potion effective...more HP you got more pots you use to refill it. Also don't worry about magic/melee mixed mobs just cancel their 1st spell and kill b4 the other. Also HP shards are bit more expensive than p.def.

But if you PvP(even in PvE server I heard/think HP shards are way to go.

Secksy HP for the win =P

Though, I've seen people who use garnets for one piece of armor, sapphires for another, and citrines for the last two. That might work out pretty well.. but maybe only if you can afford to refine high enough ._.

I've been doing pure citrine shards myself, though.

Persoanlly i'm planning to do Garnet gems x4 for event boots. 3x citrine gem for helm. +6's. rest hp shards. immaculate cit for 90's armor. perfect cit for whenever sin get 99 armor..

however wont get my gems if we not get some packs back soon -_-
I'm sorry for misspelling / mistyping and grammar b:surrender

Personally i try to maximize any defences i can get, but also try to maintain a certain "balance".

Opted to go for garnet shards on chest-leg-feet & armpiece , using helmet with beautiful citrines, Tauran cape/4 immac citrines.

One can always refine gear to get a "bit" more HP, and just using a good cape+helmet you can get away with sharding for Pdef on the rest of your gear.

As for elemental resists : choose your jewelry wisely.
