FB29 - Qingzi

Alright, I have a simple question. When battling Qingzi in FB29, is it better to use a regular tank, like a barb, or is it better to use a magical tank like a veno with a high earth res?
PLEASE, for the love of all that is chocolate. If your advice involves me spending IRL money on this game, save us both the trouble and don't bother. And before you tell me to suck it up and get a job, I have plenty of money, for me it's the principle of the matter. I will be the best, and without spending a dime. Thank you for your time.

    well at lower levels I think a barb or bm would be better to tank, but at later levels
    it shouldn't matter too much :P

    Magical tank.

    Qingzi's rate of attack is reduced to only magic channeling. Physical tank has to absorb both physical and magic attack.

    Okay, then how do I get my Earth Defense up to 2500? I'm barely managing 1500 atm.

    Wiz with stone barrier does pretty good.

    Yes, but how is a Wiz gonna keep aggro? Qingzi is weak vs. wood, so the venos will be doing more damage to him than the Wiz.

    A (decent) wiz won't have problems keeping aggro from a veno of the same level (in most cases). Archers might be a problem.

    Well Archers wiull steal aggro from anbody no matter who is tanking. I have a lvl 53 bm and I can tank qingzi and even solo him now. (with the help of my genie healin me and such) but a bm or a barb will be the ideal tanks as they are built to be a tank. A veno can tank it as well with a good def pet. I have a lvl26 veno with a glacial walker pet that owns the fb19 cave boss and all. Now a wizard? I never heard of a wiz tanking Qingzi unless he was like lvl 80+ so he can own it in like 4 hits lol. But if u have an archer in the squad. It doesn't matter who is tanking, about 99.9% of the tme, they steal aggro from whoever he is attacking. if u need a tank, pm devined_dawn.     all i can tell you at this point is look for armor and charms with earth def bonuses. and shard ur armor like crazy.

    Here are some things I'd consider.

    1) Total HP
    2) Your build/lvl
    3) Your squad members

    If you're full AA, and you're about lvl 30, then with the cleric's mag def buff you should hit a reasonable amount of defense. Get the rank equipment; you're defense should be able to hit 1.6k raw (I'm basing it on pwi stat calculator). If you have a wiz, as XForgottenX says, them with stone barrier is pretty good since by lvl 29, they can increase earth resist by 50%.

    If you have a barb for HP buff, it'd help.

    And finally a good cleric.

    Aggro issues are completely different. If we're discussing tank capacities then leave aggro management out of the equation.

    I've tried a squad of one barb, two venos and one cleric in the past, with the barb tanking. The barb was lvl 32 or 33 and was constantly smashed left and right. Even manufactured good equipment just so he could survive. The venos were LA. Even with LA, the veno took three hits to die. A full AA will have a considerably higher survivability. Took us a few deaths to get it done.

    A lvl 50+ cleric can solo Qingzi quite well. A lvl 70+ wiz solo-ing him rarely saw any dip in HP.

    yea....i damn near always pull agro, no matter what shot i use or weapon either.b:surrender
