    This is just unix time.

    Most computer programs keep track of time from the unix epoch (January 1st, 1970 and 0 seconds GMT) unix time simply counts up in seconds from that point which is referred to as 0. The current unix time as of this post is 1267594683 seconds. When you create a new account or it's your first time accessing the forums you obviously couldn't possibly have a last visited date so the value is stored as 0 until you actually visit the forum once. Since PWI forums are set for PST which is 8 hours behind GMT the date is dec 31st 1969 @ 4:00 PM instead of January 1st, 1970.
