Where you can't lose, drop or trade items, but you can kill each other.
Perhaps with a reward system similar to City of Abominations, Tournament or PQ.
Would like to meet some of my fellow forum mates in there. b:chuckle

Doubtful that this is physically possible.
And it would be a big fat lagfest, just like all the Meet The GMs.If you disregard what I say because of who I am or because of the contents of what I said, you are a fool.
Everyone wants to be different, but when you're different you wish you were normal.0 -
i say but the top 6 in a server vs the other server kinda like a big tw. that would be coolIt wasn't me!

Guess you've never done Tournament or City of Abominations?
And how would that be physically impossible? I'ts physically impossible to lift 10,000 pounds. This is data from a database that can be sorted, exported, imported, etc... learn about computers please, there is no "physically impossible". lol Also, apparently there is a feature that can be implemented to do cross-server shounts... which was removed due to complaints about the extra useless chatbox...
Also, your PWI account is linked to all the servers... so you don't need to create a new login/password for any of the servers, so there is some interconnectivity between servers, eh?
All your char's info could easily be ported over for an instance where you can't lose or trade items... could actually be achievable.I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.0 -
I'd like to see more of a cross-server TW.
Best factions from each server 1v1 against each other.
>:D0 -
I would love to see some HT TW factions vs TW factions from LC.
That would be very epic. The doctor will see you now.0 -

This should be in Suggestions box though.b:cute [SIGPIC]http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o160/ChisaiUsagi/wewewe.jpg[/SIGPIC] b:cute0 -

You are truly a *gem*.
GMs, mods, and assorted representatives have said, over and over again, that there will be no cross server *anything*.
But, since you say it can be done, I'll be sure to refer anyone I see starting one of these threads to you for analysis. A weekend programming and I'm sure you'll have it ready to roll.

Re-arranging the data on all the servers to allow cross-server events would most likely come with tons and tons of bugs that would at least make things annoying, at most make the game perfectly unplayable. Also, your PWI account is linked to all the servers... so you don't need to create a new login/password for any of the servers, so there is some interconnectivity between servers, eh?
What about characters with the same name? That would be alike to a division by zero for the code, which would then crash on itself.
And do you realize how big an actual game is, in terms of code? Think millions of lines of code. Now, think about all the potential bugs that haphazardly smashing together several instances of these millions of lines of code could cause. Now, do you think that they want to make the poor Chinese programmers spend months re-doing the code just for a possibility of finding out which server has the best PvP faction? Not going to happen. If you disregard what I say because of who I am or because of the contents of what I said, you are a fool.

More likely those on a PvP will more than surpass those on a PvE server, look at ranks for kills in PvE servers and how many of the kills are level 30's? Now go to a PvP server how many of those kills are level 30's?Executor Of Reunited ~ Level 3 ~ Level 85+ ~ No Drama, No Pressure Faction.

lol, Silly barb. Intelligence is for non-WBs. They said there would be no server merges and no character migrations. A GM can world shout across all servers simultaneously. And if you know what GMs are and aren't allowed to say, even if this were a planned event, you wouldn't be told about it until after they announced it. Getting any information about such things from a GM is sketchy and unreliable at best.
Remember right before they announced the new Rising Tide server? How many threads were locked with a GM or MOD stating there were no plans for introducing a new server? Yeah, you're just brilliant and insightful. lolOlba - Sanctuary wrote: »Re-arranging the data on all the servers to allow cross-server events would most likely come with tons and tons of bugs that would at least make things annoying, at most make the game perfectly unplayable.

In terms of server merging, when this is done with MMOs, chars get a tag appended onto their name denoting server... like "Michael_Dark-LC" or something to that extent.
Hurr de durr... no I have no clue how many lines of uncompiled code there is in a 4 gigabyte + game, and don't pretend you do either. Your ignorance of how a program works is amazing. Your character isn't coded into the game, or the server side client. Learn how databases function please.I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.0 -
MD reminds me of Jay & Silent Bob at the end of their self-titled movie (Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back), except they end up getting their own butts kicked instead. b:surrender0

I think Dark is actually right, it is possible.
They merged Oracle and Delphi and somehow managed to figure out the "duplicate name" thing.
So what they do is merge certain players to whichever server has the least traffic, let them have it out, then roll it all back.
Rinse and repeat for an event.0 -

Oddly reminds me of the pain of the healing cuts and soreness of knuckles a couple days after a good fight... even if you lost. Kinda miss that. lolI post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.0 -
It is certainly feasible to implement such feature from a technical point of view, but i very much doubt PWE would consider the work required worth the investment.
As a reference, server transfers, a common feature in other MMOs, have yet to be worked into the game despite the incentive of an average cost of $50 in most games offering the service. And this is a much simpler feature from a technical standpoint.0 -
The GMs would need an incentive.
Lets put a 20 Gold Ticket in Boutique to enter.
Seems like a lot but it is kind of worth it.0 -

I would pay for an event like this. Open new event instance server, export data could probably be easily automated. All they would need to do is write a simple application, or depending on the database management tools, script it. Create NPC to activate the application if you have the purchased "object" in your inventory, and viola.
Once the event were over, since nothing with the chars would actually change, you just log back onto your original server, and if there were prizes or any rewards given, the GMs would just mail them to you as if you'd won a prize from an event like the Fashion, Calendar or PrePaid Card promotions.
It really wouldn't be outrageously difficult.I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.0 -

It is quite possible actually, Requiem: Momento Mori another game similar to PWI has Server vs. Server wars every week. Must say its the most fun thing ive ever experienced in a game.0 -
So no one here has had a lag issue, that shows we aren't listed under our names, but that our names are simply labels for an existing file?
Don't know about you, but I'm listed as P-XXXXXX, which means as long as that isn't the same, it can have people with the same names for simply being there. The only issue, might be in how the tell system works, or other instances where it converts our label name over to actual file name.Fist are the worst at PvP AND PvE, if you disagree, as I said, take it to PM's or make your own guide. Go here if you want to debate about it. - Lyndura

You guys need to look around more.
In a game named after a lost civilization made "online" the game has home-servers and a common cross-server to cross-server-PvP.
The characters of the "normal" home-server are copied unto this PvP cross-server instance using name + home-server add to avoids duplicate names.
When you login onto this cross-server instance your character on the home-server get logged out automatically and vice-versa.
Example
I play on Dreamweaver so when I log on to this PvP cross-server if it existed in PWI my name could be Promivius-Dw
If I had played on Sanctaury I would be Promivius-Sa
Will it work for PWI.. no idea.
An option to look into?

Yea awesome sauce idea but never gonna happen with this management.
Brownie points for trying tho.b:dirty0 -
I -love- the idea. Technologically speaking, it should not be too hard. I would need a more accurate idea of server loads before I can surmise if they would need a new physical server to host it. Pooling data from all servers, temporarily or not, would take a sizeable chunk of server runtime and I suspect would adversely affect gameplay if hosted on a primary server.
Maybe drop it on the webserver would be best? b:laugh0 -
does it directly make them money? answer is no, and therefore it wont happen
what they dont realize however, is adding this would draw in droves of new players, and THAT would have the potential to net them ALOT of moneyI have officially "won the game"... Actually, I decided it was time to leave.
