Any pet will work for regular game play and grinding. Kitty is actualy pretty fast and it has ok skills, its attack is average.

So get one if you like it, it will still let you grind and do most quests and lure.
Too often we loose sight of life's simple pleasures. Remember, when someone annoys you, it takes 42 muscles in your face to frown, BUT, it only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and slap that mother#$@%#^! upside the head.

I personally use it, and can recommend it as a great pet. It's a terrific puller and has got surprisingly good mag defense. It's also much more ressilient than the pup or the kowlin. Statwise a type 1 or 2 wolf will beat it in all but mag res and speed. TBH attack is decent but not great, so you do need to keep FR leveled and adding Bash would be a good idea if you want to keep it for the long run. I'm swapping mine's pierce for threaten since the effect works better for me. It also handles easy when grinding because of it's speed, which is always a plus.

Edit; I will add it's not usually considered amongst the top tier veno pets, so keep in mind that while it's pretty good, it's not the best you can get.

It's worth it just to watch a tiny tiny little kitten beating up great big dragons. (The drake in 59 is particularly vulnerable to its cute little kitten eyes)

so what would be, besides the walkers, magmites and legendaries?

It depends. If you want better overall stats, the level 2 wolves (type 1) you can find in the starter areas (including the Sharptooth Wolfling) or the level 19 (type 2) such as the Darkbreed or the Frozen wolfkins. If you want better defense the level 45 (type 4) Guardian Wolf is the best in the family, while for speed the Kowlin is the undisputed king. The Cuddly Pup is usually regarded a better choice than the Tabby, with stats intermediate amongst the Kowlin and the Tabby itself.

Now, this is for pets with stats similar to the Tabby's, not overall. I did choose the Tabby for myself so i'm far from considering it a poor choice.

If you want to consider other pets we'll need you to be somewhat more specific about what type of stats you want.

Hope this helps in the meantime.

Edit; Just to clarify, if you meant to ask what the top tier veno pets are, i'm afraid these are only a handful. Other than legendary pets and the Walker/Magmites is just the Eldergoth Marksman, Varicose Scorpion and Petite Sawfly. The Dark Wanderer, Ebony Hellduke and Cloud Skatefish are now being discussed as posible additions, but unlikely to replace those pets already considered top tier. The Glacial Walker is a notable exception as it did in fact replace the Magmite. A few, such as the Armoured Bear, are sometimes considered in the list, and others, Kowlin being the best example, have been dropped out.

keep the wanderer if you like it, it's a good pet. As long as you keep a somewhat decent tanker you can get whatever other pets you want. It really doesn't make that much of a difference. The only pets that will by far outperform all others are the herc and the nix.
