What race/class in this game is more newb friendly and easiest to play at first?

Also, I know with every F2P game there is a cash shop and with every F2P game it's almost a requirement to buy things from it. So do not waste your time posting things such as "run away!! this are f2p but pay to win" b:thanks

I'm posting this here because the Class Discussion doesn't seem to have a General Class discussion sub forum. :)

Go veno for easy... or psychic i suppose. I find psychics pretty easy to play alone.

    5x wiz- Kimbley

Probably a venomancer. I have at least one char for every class and most have made it past 19. My veno was definitely the easiest getting through that lol. Second easiest to me was either an archer or a cleric. Archers are pretty easy to play in general, but I'm not sure if you could say that a cleric is newb friendly.

edit: ahhh, I completely forgot about Tideborns! lol. I haven't played a psychic, but I know the assassin was incredibly easy in the lower levels (and the psychics around me were a thousand times better -.-). So I'd have to say the second/third choices would be a psychic or an assassin.

Yup, I agree with Veno. It was my first character, and is still my main even though I have a cleric and psychic as well, and it is by far my favourite to play.

If you're new to the game, it would be best to start as a venomancer.

A venomancer is a relatively easy class to play - and once you have your pet you can have that tank and help you kill your mobs. A good solo class that you can play while adjusting to PWI and learning the in-game mechanics. You can also squad up and ask other people about their respective classes to get an idea of what class you might want to try when you get more settled into the game.

An assassin is also an interesting first choice, but you need to be prepared to use potions when you start to hit the 2x levels (at least until you get bloodpaint, I hear that makes things a little easier) and you also need to watch out for monsters that can cast bramble on themselves.

I have not played a psychic but in the earlier levels they pretty much own. Relatively powerful attacks and a very early knockback keeps you at a safe distance while you shoot a mob down with spells.

Out of the three though, I would still say your best starter class choice would be veno.

I realize everyone is saying veno, but that only is taking into consideration the soloing aspects. If you're a solitary type person i'd fully agree. However due to the over abundance of Veno's out there, when you suddenly want to party, it becomes alot harder to find a group, especially for things like rebirth that want 1 of each class. If you want decent soloability & desireability from a group, i'd say cleric. Unlike healers in alot of MMOs, cleric in this game have a decent amount of damage spells that leave them better off then poking mobs with a stick for 5 hours.

I personally find assasins to be the easiest. Oh and heres a tip if your going to play a sin I suggest grabing a bow for bosses that have a nasty aoe so you dont take the attention of the cleric of the tank to res your buttb:laugh

I'd say either veno or Cleric. My starting character was a cleric. They have heals (focus on Ironheart-- it's the best one), can fly from level 1, and can actually be a help to the squad they are in, regardless of level (I had a '29 Cleric as the only one in a FB29 I tanked once). They aren't exactly money makers, though.

I find a veno really gets boring after a while. I retired mine at level 64.

Venos, clerics, and BMs are probably the top solo classes.

Venomancers are the best solo'ers as they can use their pet to tank while they heal and throw in some attacks themselves. The fox form build is harder but ideal for PvP and may even be a better physical tank than their pet.

Psychics are like wizards hyped up on coffee and sugar. I don't think they hit quite as hard as an wiz equiv., but their cast times are much faster. This may mean even more problems with stealing aggro in teams but it's great for solo and grinding, at least in the early levels. They also gain a knock back skill earlier and their first one slows down mobs well, so with this and the short cast times, they rarely get hit. Their survivability would be as bad as a wizard's (if not worse) but they rarely let the mob hit them. Only in later levels do wizards surpass them overall, but for a beginner questing (aside from slow on foot) and grinding is like candy.

Archers deal great physical damage from afar and at some point early on get knock-back and such skills to keep their enemies away. The big drawback is you'll need to keep an eye on your arrow supply, keep topping up your MP for those skills that keep your enemies away longer and unlike BMs and barbs your HP will go down fast if you get mobbed (multi-aggro ganged up).

Clerics have buffs and healing abilities that are priceless to groups. I'm not as confident with their difficulty but from my experience they are hard to level in the earlier levels unless you use their skills right, use a full-attack build and ready to burn lots of MP.

Blademasters have considerably better survivability than wizards, but deal less damage and, at least in the early levels, can be slow to level. You'll have to be careful of what build you go for and use and level your skills wisely depending on your playing style/tastes/role. IMO they're hard at first but not as hard as wizards. BMs typically high pretty high equipment repair costs.

Barbarians have tons of HP and physical defence which add up to great survivability. In fact it's scary to see a relatively high level blue-named barb lying dead in a relatively low level area, especially where there're no bosses in miles. Barbs move fast, particularly in tiger form, which is great in the lower levels where you have to do a lot of travelling on foot. However their physical attacks are anything but fast and when they do hit they are pretty mediocre at best at early levels. High evasion mobs are thus a real pain too. Because of the generally slow levelling (from grinding and quests that involve grinding), repair bills and hard to balance attributes between str, vit and dex, many players drop their barbs by the mid-early levels. However, like clerics, they are often priceless to teams or at least very valuable.

Assassins to me are like a mix between a BM and archer, but mostly BM. While they deal relatively high physical damage, they are harder to level in the earlier levels. In the later levels they're supposed to pwn, but you'll still have to learn to use their skills right. In my experience their survivability is pretty poor considering and you really need to rely on the skills (thus your MP goes down fast)....and with the repair cost and skill management etc etc, assassins are difficult but pwn in the mid-high levels....and you manage them and their skills right.

Wizards may hit hard from afar but get hit harder. With pure-nuke builds you can easily take down mobs well before they can hurt you, but if you get swamped or steal aggro from a boss, you're finished. Also the casting time is very slow compared to psychics. With poor survivability and slow on foot ,the early levels can be really painstaking. But with patience and a few tricks up your sleeves, you can make a real nuclear launcher by levels 60 - 70. Just make sure you stay away from archers unless you can kill them in one or two hits....although archers (both mobs and players) can hit faster than you.

The easiest in my experience are venos while the hardest are wizards, but in the later levels they pwn. b:victory

Honestly I would go for the class that sounds like you would enjoy the most. You could play the easiest and/or the most newb friendly class and absolutly hate it.

Read the descriptions and choose what you want based on your play style. I know I went through quite a few chars before deciding on cleric. :)

Agree on what Brigid said, but i want to add some more.

    Venomancer in PVE :
Almost no armor repair cost if you were a mage (arcane) venomancer because pet tank for you, makes veno the best class to make money from item drop or catching rare pet.
At high lv mage venomancer usually need a good pet (usually phoenix) and good skill in pvp. Because even though you go full magic, your magic attack won't match wizard and cleric.
It goes different if you were a heavy (or heavy robe veno) you will have nice def on magic and phy while keeping good attack, but it expensive to make these build.
Fun to play if you like pets and not bored by using same strategy when grinding. (pet attack enemy > you cast spell > pew2 > mob died > repeat)

    Archer in PVE :
Start from mid lv even only with frost, knockback arrow, and winged shell a pure dex archer can become very cheap in pve. Even can become faster on killing mob than a venomancer b:shutup while keeping low repair cost. (arrow is not expensive, just use the most cheap one in PVE)
At high lv archer will need good gear, weapon, and refines in order to match other class, which expensive. But if you love archer don't give up, because they can become very deadly.
Fun to play if you like to see critical a lot, pvp, and you can make the fist archer.

    Barbarian in PVE :
From low lv to mid lv you will feel pain if you go solo because of low damage output but at last you can survive many things. And what makes barb a bad class to making money from grind certain mob is their high repair cost. Though on high lv with good squad, good barb can make good amount of money from dungeon drops.
At high lv barbarian is one of the most op class, high hp & good damage. And what i mean of good damage >.> just see armageddon damage and their insane hp and regeneration. Demons barbarian is no joke.
Fun to play if you like to be in squad, don't mind of high repair cost, hp pot charm cost, and low damage output on low lv.

    Wizard in PVE :
On low lv until near end game wizard feel a lot of pain b:cry your hp will drop fast and your mp too.
But after near to end game they become quiet op and a arcane class that has really high defense thanks to stone barrier.
At high lv Wizard can deal tons of damage with one skill, can has 200% defense, and escape even when you stun them b:quiet then use their skill to kill you. (especially if you not a arcane or squishy)
Fun to play well, they were a pain to lvl but if you can be patient and reach really high lv it going to become very nice.

    Blade master in PVE :
Not so good in pve until you reach mid lv where you has tons of usefull skill both in pve and pvp. And don't forget aoe grinding that can make you lvl really fast. Has quiet high repair cost though.
At high lv you will has so many stun skill to stun lock your enemy, make them unable to do anything once they caught on stun lock. And don't forget how annoying was bm aoe in tw.
Fun to play if you like to use many kind of weapon since they has 4 weapon path to master. (just lvl one that most usefull first though)

    Cleric in PVE :
Need lots of mp to solo and need patience too b:surrender though not as pain full as a wizard because they can buff and heal them self. Still not a good reason to grind items with these class. You will find yourself extremely important in squad though. And you can die a lot in low lv.
At high lv you can has semi tank cleric that hard to died with tons of stacked iron heart + many buff. Don,t forget tempest.
Fun to play if you like to help people, don't mind to squad on lvls you hard to solo, and don't mind with their mp cost.

About assassin and psychic i don't want to think about them since they not has end game skill yet and demon sage.
But i think assassin was not good in pve but good in pvp and psychic eat mp so fast though psychic was easy to play in pve.

    Hope these helping. =D

I must say I am pretty agree with the above quote bout barbs -it was pretty big problem to grind solo before I got lvl90 gear and skills after-but now I luv my char-as said above has lots of HP ,definitely good survivability and decent dmg (crits also).I guess the effort just worth it.Maybe it wasnt 100%fun to play him all the time but at least he didnt die so easily even before 90;s -well its up to u-just sharing opinion :)

i'm going to say....veno? this might sound dumb, but to me a venomancer is kind of like a "mini squad," and is a good way to learn general gameplay stuff.

i was happy i started with veno because i kind of learned how to keep things under control when unexpectedly aggro'ing more monsters than intended.
