Midnight's Venomancer Guide
What is a venomancer?
A venomaner (veno) is a untamed class. This class can only be female so you will find many males being this female characters. (Like barbarians can only be male).
This is the only class that can use fighting pets. They have very low defence and can die fast, that's why they use pets to take all the damage and help them kill. They may also wear all three types of armour depending in your build. They are the soloing race, a veno can solo a lot of things, more at low levels. Some solo their Bhs but not FBs as you are a lower level when doing them.
Any downsides to a veno?
You have to remember to get your pet out, this is not bad but can be a pain if you rush to attack.
Pet food costs quite a bit sometimes, but venos don't have to buy as many potions. I guess the food makes up for that.
You NEED your pet to fight so make sure your pet bag can fit a ground, fly and swimming pet.
Roles of a veno?
Venos are a secondary option if a tank can not be found, with the right pets they can tank a lot of things. Soloing skills, was we mentioned how much they can solo, they are commonly wanted on bosses and stuff to help kill the things quicker.
At higher levels they can lend sparks to those who need it with a spark giving skill.
Luring is also a huge role for a veno, we were the main 'lures' before genies came out.
Typical Builds:
Full Magic: High damage and MP, plus a quicker MP regain. Low HP.
9 magic, 1 strength every two levels.
Hybrid: Survivability, HP, mid-damage.
7 magic, 1 strength. 2 vitality every two levels.
Vitality Build: High HP, survivability, lower damage.
6 magic, 1 strength, 3 vitality every two levels.
Build Base For Armour:
*Robes: Your typical magic armour. What would be worn for a build with more magic. Most venos choose this. (Commonly used by: Wizards, clerics, psychics and venos)
Every two levels: 1 strength, 6 magic, 3 remaining points.
Light Armour: (Commonly used by: Archers, assassins and/or venos)
Every two levels: 2 strength, 2 dexterity, 6 magic.
Heavy Armour: (Commonly used by: Blademasters, barbarians, assassins and/or venos)
Every Two levels: 5 magic, 2 strength, 2 dexterity, 1 vitality.
* = Recommended Armour Build.
Robes work best with venos, them being magic and all. For the typical builds you should use robes, do not use others as they have no dexterity. Reason for robes being the best is the magic, with robes you have a higher chance to yield the best weapon and wear the best clothing at your level.
I suggest you don't do heavy armour on a venomancer, you would just be killing your self with armour a lot lower level than you, also you would not be able to have the best weapon for your level. There are not enough points so split across the four atributes. Light armour is not bad, that extra dexterity gives you a better crit rate allowing you to critical more.
Venos HP is important when it comes to ganging mobs and AoE bosses, but when facing ordinary mobs, HP is not really relevant. You have a pet to take damage to just make sure to keep it healed. I dont like wasting ALOT of HP for that little extra power. In MY opinion the best venomancer build is hybrid. It has enough power to kill the mobs and extra HP to survive. If you choose a 'pure' veno, then imbuing HP gems to you armour and weapons is a good idea.
What level can I get a pet?
You get your first pet at level three. There's a quest from the pet skill trainer at lost to obtain a wolf or scorpion. You also get the tame skill at level seven this allows you to tame pets your level or bellow. You can only tame the animals with a little green or yellow face next to the HP bar.
Recommended Pets:
There are several recommended pets: I have listed a few for each ground, fly and water.
Note: Flying pets may also be used on the ground aswel as sky. But not the water.
Baby Hercules: (Gound) It has very strong defence, high damage, slow movement speed, high HP – Legendary
Phoenix: (Fly) Very high damage, high speed - Legendary
Petite Sawfly: (Fly) High damage, low HP, fast movement speed - Found around bamboo village - Level 8
Pinnaer Foxwing: (Fly) Moderate damage, decent defence, decent HP, moderate speed - Found above orchid temple – level 34
Volcanic/Crystal Magmite: (Ground) High defence, high damage, moderate HP, slow movement speed. - Found around haunted path – Crystal: level 15, Volcanic: Level 19.
(The volcanic is slightly better than the crystal due to it being an FB mob)
Glacier Walker: (Ground) High defence, high damage, moderate HP, slow movement speed.
I have no recommended water pets for now. I dont really recommend the magmites or walker due to their slow movement speed. It will take them forever to walk to things, etc.
The phoenix is the hardest hitting pet in the game, but it is no good in caves because it flys. Flying pets can not be summoned in caves. Though it is recommended for other things.
The Hercules can only be obtained from 9999 source of force.
The Phoenix can only be obtained from 9999 phoenix feathers.
The 9999 items can only be bought from the boutique (cash shop) for 50 silver per pack. The packs may contain 10-50 source or feathers. The other way to get them are from peoples cat shops, they are sold for around 7,000 in game coins each. Of course for 9999 that would cost: 69,993,000
In other words round it up and that's 70million!
Recommended Skills: (Up them to 10)
Venomous Scarab
Iornwood scarab
Lucky Scarab
Noxious Gas
Parasitic Nova
Metabolic Boost
Soul Transfusion
Natures Grace
Bramble guard / Bramble Hood.
Wood Mastery
These cant be updated past level one, but I suggest you get them:
Spark Bust
Lending Hand
Swimming mastery
Possibly Get: Summer Sprint.
These are just a few of the skills I recommend you get. Along with the pets taming, healing and reviving skills. Don't forget to update them to ten at the pet skill trainer.
Summer Spirt is handy for running away from mobs, AoE and other little things. Its not a super must, but I recommend you get it.
Recommended Fox Skills:
Fox Form
Meele Matery
Amplify Damage
Soul Degeneration
Stunning Blow
Leech
That's all your basic venomancer information that will be mainly needed. Other forums will tell you more detailed things. But from me, bye bye.
EDIT: (8/2/10) I have edited a few things and will edit more later.

You forgot to mention luring as one of our roles, which is probably one of the most important.
The herc doesn't have VERY HIGH damage, either.
I'm pretty sure your stat allocations for the heavy build are incorrect - there aren't enough stat points to go around to get a perfect heavy build.
Pet food costs can be done away with by using a tome (either permanent or the 7 day one from the boutique.)
HP is JUST as necessary for venos as it is for other classes. We may solo 90% of the time, but if we can't survive a squad activity that you may get hit in, we're useless. Some recommend a vit cap, others recommend using shards or refines. Either way, don't ignore it.
Wood mastery also has 10 levels to it.
And for the phoenix - it's got the highest damage in game as far as pets go. That's about all you need to know. That and that it's good for pvp/tw because of a glitch that allows flesh ream to do full damage.
Also add soul transfusion to the recommended list, as this allows you to maintain an endless supply of MP.
Think that's it.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I don't like wasting power for health on a veno. They have pets to do their work, if you go for a build that doesn't use vit, then it will be stronger. Meaning you can healer your pet more.
You will barely use your own HP. The only time this will happen is then you have more than one mob on your back.
Not True, you need HP for AoEs, or if your on a PK Server
The more mag you have the more often you pull off your pet too which means you get hit more and have less survivability?

this guide is a nice attempt, but is very misinformative, contains many grammatical errors, and not as detailed as the currently stickied ones.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I have edited the guide with some of what you people said, sorry about that and thank you.
About wood mastery, yes it can be updated to level 10, sorry i mistyped it in the wrong section.
This guide was sort of rushed, it was 3am when I started typing it, I porberbly missed ALOT aout. I shall go through and have a look, sorting my mistakes. Thanks everyone ^^0 -
While I applaud your attempt at creating a guide, you have some very glaringly obvious misconceptions of the role of a veno and it's potentials which are indeed very viable. You have looked only at one side of the coin, which is AA, and have not even explained with any validity why robe is the only build.
IMO you need to experience quite a lot more that a veno has to offer before making an actual guide and critiquing builds that are more common than you might think (LA and HA or HA/AA).0 -

Just offering some thoughts to this... if you want to make an informative thread that's sticky worthy, you should probably spend a little bit more effort than throwing something together at 3 in the morning. I can't personally guarantee the methods the previous guides were made, but I'd be willing to guess their authors wrote a few drafts before finally publishing their guides.
We have a few existing guides that are quite in-depth; if you want to add yours to that list, then spend some more time and effort into it.
All that being said, I suggest you delete this current thread, and republish it after you make a few revisions. (And from the impression of this guide, I suggest you reach end-game levels before trying to write a guide as well) I know you're probably eager to contribute to the venomancer community, but your guide is seriously lacking in quality... unless you make a lot of major changes, this guide will be buried before long.
I hope this isn't too discouraging :V, good luck in the future.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Not to discourage you but there is already a couple of stikied guides. But if you want to.He's charging his lazer.

Oh i just screwed up this post. forget it. Mod can delete if they want, im to lazy to type that again >_<0

I don't get people's problem with the golems' speed, tbh. I cast my attack skill, while the golem's going to hit the monster and the golem reaches the monster when my attack skill reaches the monster too -_- Why should it be any faster?! NO OFFENCE to you, this is a general thing of people, I just wouldn't mention it as a negative thing because its speed is just fine. I mean, the golem runs even faster than me! O_o Anyways, the guide is nice, keep up the good work ^^Active player since January 2010.0

Well, basically, have you tried a faster pet?
It's not about keeping up with you as you run, all pets will teleport as needed to do that.
The pet arriving well before your skill arrives, and so building aggro and not letting you steal - that's important.
When luring, your pet beginning its attack (and so being unsummoned and being safe) before the surrounding enemies even notice it is there, let alone attack it - that's important.
Nothing about speed is VITAL, but it IS a consideration when choosing a pet.
Personally I chose 'big and slow and tough' anyway. But 'small and fast and kills stuff in zero second flat' is also a good option.0 -

vit o.o? since when does a heavy armour veno add vit... vit should be at 3, no not 5, 3 >__> or else you wont have enough points to spend.
I suggest you look op Reikara's heavy/robe guide...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

well no offense but this kinda made me wonder should I laugh or cry(didn't do either cause going to reply) I would rather go with stickied guides and there are few parts that raised question WOOT
above some1 mentioned that HA/AA doesn't use Vit at all, unless you got by some change godly +?? to str/mag
and if you make Veno alt and have rich main I suggest Shadou Cub over walking mountain, but thats just me.
ALSO ALWAYS keep PET HEAL maxed, will help you a lot
also I really wonder about your comment at end:
"That's all your basic venomancer information that will be mainly needed. Other forums will tell you more detailed things. But from me, bye bye."0 -
Purge and Amplify Damage are both musts for Venos. Makes the boss hunting in a squad SO much easier.0

....

Don't mean to bash your post anyhow, but ther are quite a few sticked veno guides and I don't see anything in your guide that would contribute with anything new, not to mention that some of the information is incorrect and/or just based on _your_ personal preferences.*Semi retired*0
