Its been 6 hours and I dont think it will be done for another 4-5.

    If you're talking about the charging zen/gold process.... well it shouldn't take more than 15 minutes, but for me it usually takes no longer than a minute.

    It said could not launch game. So then I started verifying my files.

    Client file verification - Slow computers can take 0.5 - 1 hour. Fast computers no more than about 5 minutes. It depends on your current hard drive performance, usage, etc. Taking several hours is really abnormal though. Make sure you computer isn't doing anything else, including defragging or anti-virus scanners.

    Zen verification - Over weekends, a couple days. In the week days....minutes or hours....I'm not sure. But unless it's automated, don't expect anything until at least this time Monday.

    We actually have a weekend staff that handles billing verification.

    As to the file verification, I'm not sure why it's taking that long, but unless it's frozen the best thing to do is probably just wait it out.

    Try disabling your anti-virus and verifying again; some anti-virus programs (especially Norton) will sometimes decide that they don't recognize elementclient.exe, delete it just in case it's a virus it doesn't know about, and then not tell the user.

    So it took 12 hours to verify, and yet it still says "could not launch game".
    What are your system's specifications? If you don't know, just the brand and model will do (its generally somewhere on the front - might be on the back on a sticker though).

    Please note that you must have a fast and stable broadband internet connection to download, patch, and play the game on.

    The connection has to be able to get data to and from our servers in a timely manner.
    Do you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

    same for me...

    i automatically downloaded & installed patch 312 yesterday and could play fine.

    this morning, i could start the client but upon login get the message that my version is too low and i should log out & update.

    so i manually download the latest two patches but according to those, the version already is the latest one. i research about this on these forums, yet all that GM's and mods seem to say is "verify", without any further information whatsoever.

    so i start verifying. the first time i wanted to cancel because it took too long... it froze my computer, me ending up booting my laptop. this second time it's been over 4 hours and only 25% verified... like wtf >_>

    acer aspire6935G
    windows vista home premium
    core 2 duo @ 2.26ghz
    4GB ram
    nvidia geforce 9600M GT - 512MB
    300 GB harddisk, iirc 5400 rpm

    i think i know why i have to verify or reinstall, i had a problem with a program and had to revert to a certain restore point (yesterday after playing PWI), that's probably messed up everything.

    but it seems impossible to me to have to verify for 12 hours or more... i haven't tried with shutting down my antivirus... so i'll try that and report afterwards... but i'm afraid of shutting down the verify process >_>;

    and when downloading @ 1000 kB/s, the download of the client takes approx 1 hour... kinda ridiculous to verify then, isn't it? -.-

    woha, shutting down antivirus seems to be working. i've disabled the eset nod32 antivirus 4 real-time file protection thing. it will now take about 10 minutes to verify i estimate, with microsoft word and opera running in the background.

    though that doesn't necessarily solve my problem...

    well to my surprise that did solve it - though i don't know how. i can log in again after verifying.

    so if anyone encounters this problem at some point, of not being able to login due to "low version please exit & update", please do hit that verify button. but before you do that, disable or exit your antivirus program and other programs that require lots of virtual memory and harddisk use.

    but as i've read, verifying doesn't always solve the problem, for (publicly) unknown reasons. in that case, i believe you'll have to submit a ticket or email PWI, or reinstall the client.

    i guess i'm lucky, but it did take me retardly long to be lucky >_>;
