  Depends on the skill, but in most cases:
  
  Skill Level - Pet Level
  I - 1
  II - 20
  III - 40
  IV - 60
  V - 80

  Don't remember where I first learned it. Probably either ingame or off this forum.
  
  You'll find it's correct for most skills, though.
  
  (Some notable exceptions exist such as Pounce: I(20), II(80-max).
