What are the reasons for the gold to coin ratio to rise so fast?!

Hello, I been out almost 6 months and last I checked the gold prices were 120k-140k, now i'm seeing a sudden shock at the crazy prices 420k-450k+ each?! THAT IS MADNESS!!! ...b:shocked

    PW needs to sell hamster packs. Maybe that will increase it even more. b:surrender

    Anyways, you're even lucky it's 420-450k each gold. I've seen them at 800k less 2-3 months ago. b:surrender

    Now I'm really pissed at myself for selling over 100 gold just before I left the scene of pwi b:cry wata wasted of money! not to mention spending over $800 in real cash for in game shop! b:infuriated

    I really don't know the real reason i quit, but after seeing the coin value decreased so much I don't even felt like playing again b:sweat

    I feel like giving away my things but at the same time I just wanna close the doors for good...

    its actually kinda funny. JUST when the economy was getting back together and gold prices returning to normal from anniversary packs they pop out coral packs...

    250k per gold rose to 500k per gold over night... and honestly, i just laughed my **** off i rly did lol. i laughed even more when i seen 5 shops selling coral packs in bulks for 450k each just hours after coral packs went into the CS.

    Oh well. In terms of items, it looks like the Anniversary Packs were better. However, the Corals got TT99 souledges and Nirvana crystals. So in practice, they have put Lunars, Frosts, high level tomes and TT100s into the cash shop. Just that, since they are in a "gamble pack", they can argue that they are not directly selling them, just selling a chance to get them. And just to get it out of the way, no, the packs are not gambling, since you're always getting something for your money.

    Since it is the topic I have to ask because it makes me so confused. So yea, there was some packs that came out which everyone hated but still bought for the reason that someone could get something good from the packs. What makes me confused is why raise the gold price? I don't think "because the greedy GMs put in a horrible pack" makes so much sense.

    If a store at your hometown sells the stuff you need to make a cake but not a finished cake so you have to bake it yourself. Then one day suddenly the store starts to sell both stuff to make the cake and a finished cake, now do the price really go up on everything in the store? <- this I have never noticed outside of PWI.

    The measure of price setting power is significantly higher in coral/anni packs because of the type of end-game stuff they contain. That is why there always will be a market for coral/anni packs. The fact that gold prices has risen has little to do with pwi beyond them putting the packs there to profit, which any company would do. The reason gold prices are so high is because people have decided that gold at this price is worth buying. The demand increases, and so does the price as a result. If anyone pays attention to gold prices when the server maint. occurs adding these packs in, gold prices start ridiculously high at first. The market decides these are too high, nobody buys the ridiculous prices, and they plummet, adding to that those who will sell their gold for significantly cheaper. People blame pwi and go on silly and unintelligible tangents blaming them for gold prices when they don't determine that at all -- it's entirely in the hands of players, and the value of gold, even if it's higher, is exactly what it should be, because the cost of something, whether it be gold, or a kirin, or a scroll of tome, is exactly worth what people will pay for it.

    If this refers to Hammer pricing, and why gold would skyrocket (well on servers who have lower then 490k gold) if Hammers became 2 gold, then it isnt analogous to the "cake" situation. The problem is, there are literally hundreds of thousands of chests of coins sitting in peoples inventories by now, unopened because they are cost ineffective. There isnt even close to that much gold being sold by willing zen chargers. Hence we have a supply and demand problem, something your cake example doesnt have. All lower then 490k gold would be instantly snatched up for 2 gold hammers, and thousands of chests opened. If gold were lower then this point, the suppliers would have complete control over the market and, as would be logical, set prices higher and higher, trying to max their selling price. The gold would just pour out the AH window until it reaches 500k. Now suddenly all the chest poppers would say "i cant make any money with gold at that price" and the demand would plummet drastically to only normal shoppers for fashion & charms and everything else. The rush on the banks would vanish.

    Imagine in your cake example if the cakes were in such high demand that people needed them for their daily lives (such as coin is needed for daily PWI playing to get by). Now imagine your cake store has 1000 shoppers, but only 20 complete cakes, & enough ingredients to make 20 more cakes. You dont think that store manager would up the cake ingredients to match the price of whole cakes then?
