is a dex/mag cleric a bad idea?

hi im new and was wondering if i put alot of points into dex and magic ...i could use bows and stay back using my bow and spells... so anyone got a idea for me?.... or maybe a good build for a cleric

    To be honest, why use a bow? Your spells have a longer range than 20 meters once they are leveled. If you mean when you run out of MP, bring your pots! b:chuckle Unless you want the dex for crit/ LA, I can't really see the point.

    With a bow all you would be doing more likely then not is missing with a basic attack...

    Clerics are meant to use magic weapons. There are so many things wrong with a cleric using a bow, it would probably take me half an hour to list them all here.

    If you prefer a bow, I suggest you make an elf archer.

    Wanna be an Archer-type Cleric? Simple solution. =D

    Step 1: Roll LA (1 Str, 1 Dex, 3 Mag per level...I think...)

    Step 2: Spam Plume Shot. Lots.

    Step 3: ????

    Step 4: Profit!

    You can still heal, attack and use buff and de-buffs without a weapon.
    The only difference is that they will be less effective.
