Getting to 20 in total is an annoying bit. It usually only takes a few days and it's one of the easiest steps in the game. If you were level 40 or so then yes, I'd say try it and go back to bows if you don't like it. But with your current level it wouldn't be really hard to catch back up to your friend.

It would also be a good party then. You would be able to tank in a sense for him to damage deal from far off and you'd be a bit more effective in a squad together then.

Archer using swords, as far as that goes, = fail. You can't use 90% of your skills without a bow, so what's the point of dealing only base physical damage? Roll a bm.
