    First fix your signature...second:

This is just an outline on how to start a guild up... this is not a guide on how you should run your guild once its going.

Simple enough. A lot of people who start guilds really just shouldn't bother. This is defined on whether your motivation for being a guild leader is either:

    a) Being a guild leader so you can create something fun and interesting for other people.
    b) Being a guild leader so you can be a guild leader.

The majority of crappy guilds are because people fall into option b). When you start up a guild then you need to be hard working, energetic, motivated and willing to sacrifice your time and be the type of person that can keep people interested in an idea, as in the beginning thats all you have. If you start a guild because you think it will be cool to play and have loads of followers... keep dreaming, your guild is doomed from conception.

Truth is that a lot of people aren't cut out for the guild leader racket. It's not a smear on anyones character, or makes you less of a person, but a lot of people lack the patience and drive to start and run a guild. I have lots of friends I've met on MMOs over the years, but I know all but a few of them will ever make good guild leaders, however some of them make FANTASTIC right hand men. They're the guys that will get the job done when you ask them, but not so good and leading the charge themselves.

Running a guild is hard, so ask yourself is it worth the heartache? Or would you be able to fulfill your goals by joining another guild and working your way up their ladder? Lead a guild becuse you are selfless and love making stuff for other people, don't lead a guild just because you like the idea of being a leader.
