Chest of Coins

Hello,

I've seen players that are selling a a box of coins called "chest of coins"
and i've been wondering how to get those other than buying them does anyone know?

    I know of 2 places where you can get them. One is a reward for successfully completing the cube and the other is a reward for successfully completing a Frost run.

    Why do you want a chest of coins that requires you to use a perfect hammer to open?

    I've been wondering this - don't the perfect hammers actually cost more than the 1mill in the chest of coins?

    Yeah, because players are greedy. Honestly, Chests of Coins are worthless.

    yeah, i was a fool but there was a guy who randomly gave it to me and i thought he was being nice since i started at the time. eventually i saw how much the hammer was in the cash shop and tried to sell it in my kitty shop. no luck......so i bought the hammer and open it......../sighb:cry

    or mayhaps....they be soooooooooooooo lazy that instead of buying something that actually be useful and selling it in a catshop.....they decided to save....1 minute and waste money to open the chest of coins.

    chest of coins is PWI insurance policy that gold will never drop under 250k. Ever.

    Then Gold would increase to 500k/333k minimum, because nobody wants anyone else to turn a profit.

    gold isn't based around hammers. they're based around anni packs and random events. if you dropped hammers to 2-3 gold each, it won't raise gold past 333k because it would become pointless again. If gold goes beyond 333k, it won't be because of hammers.

    Yes, but the hammers provide the "floor" for the gold prices. I'd rather see it lowered than raised.

    not wanting to get technical, but they do not provide a floor, since, if gold drops in price, people will start selling the chests for more coin (remember chests for 200k+), which in turn will push gold prices even lower.

    The formula for the equilibrium prices, assuming nothing else around to push prices up, would be: (I know, that would mean no sales what-so-ever, and no packs for sale either, or JJ event)

    1million/5 - (cost of chest / 5) = "price of gold" at break even mark. So lets say you got a chest for 50k coins.

    200k - 10k = 190k per gold to break even.

    If the chest was 200k
    200k - 40k = 160k per gold to break even.

    So, technicaly, the chests create a non-binding ceiling, not floor. The reason its a non-binding is because gold can go higher than equilibrium, as we can see in AH, since there are other variables that are not related to chests that cause gold prices to go up. However, if you were to remove all other variables from play (like no more sales... right...), the chests would create the ceiling for price of gold, since nobody would be willing to either sell the chests or buy the gold and loose money. The in-game price of the chests would dictate how much gold would sell for, with nobody buying gold with the only objective as to open the chests at more than 200k. (Obviously, this would only be case if there was nothing else pushing gold prices up, like anypacks or orb sales, etc.).

    I want gold prices to go up, though. I pretty much use it for only two things right now; selling and Anni Packs.

    I would not worry to much about gold going down in the forseeable future....
    I tend to think of the chests as an insurance policy to show cash shoppers that there will always be a way to convert their zen charges into in-game coins, even if the free players decide to stop buying gold.

    You could build your own house with them, since PW is not putting housing in... Or a very long wall

    The price of gold is based on the most valuable thing in the cash shop. Currently that's anniv/coral packs, which have driven gold to around 450k. If they dropped the prices of hammers to 2 gold, the hammers would become the most valuable thing, and the price of gold would rise to just under 500k.

    A) Thank you for the useful answer - I had also wondered where they come from.

    B) Why? They make a fun noob test. People buy them, then re-sell them at a slightly higher price.
    I have seen them ranging from 10k to 500k, though I don't know if the person selling them for 500k actually sold any.
    They are the ultimate booby prize, and except for reselling them, they are as useless as screen doors on a submarine (which are only good for joke material.)
    If the Perfect Iron Hammers cost $6 and the chests contain 1million coins, they will NOT be worth opening so long as 1 gold can buy more than 166,666 coins. Currently, inflation in PW coinage is such that 1 gold can buy between 250k and 400k coins (it changes constantly.)
    I think the Chests of Coin date from long ago when maybe gold/coin was less than 1:100,000
    Perhaps PWI should update the chests and make them contain 10million coin instead (only on newly issued chests or some idiot holding 100 chests they bought is going to be suddenly rich to the tune of about 2 gold per chest.)

    the gold stay over 270k because of that chest if u raise to 10m the gold price will also raise

    I don't think PWI-developers gives a **** about your/our thoughts....

    So many "things" in this game are just disturbing..."chest of coins" are one of them.
    Do they even read forum threads and say; "Hey, that was something worth thinking about"? "We better change that"...
    You know the answer to that...(eatwithspoon will comment once and a while just to show everyone that he exists).

    But, I will still play PW...as long as other things are fun...when the fun stops, I stop.
