Uber noobs with noob questions

Myself & a group of players from other f2p games just came to PWI, we have read many forums between us & cannot find the answers to a few questions, that more seasoned players take for granted lol I hope you can help clear up some of our confuzzlement Please answer from view of no zen investment, although a few of us plan to buy zen, a couple players of the group will not.
1.Crafting
Q. Lvl 1 & 2 crafting are pretty straight forward, my question is, beyond those when i craft say at lvl 4 a weapon, will i need to have a base weapon along with the mats or just mats in order to create the required item for skill upgrade ect? Please if u can post an example of an item crafted from a-z (so to speak) would be greatly appreciated.
2. Cupboards/inventory/banking ect quests
did the quest to expand bank slots, but now it will not let me do a quest to expand inventory, 1 of the group did the quest to expand inventory & now cannot do quest to expand bank.
Q. can you only do 1 quest? After that are you forced to acquire stones via zen?
Q.b. how to expand cupboard without stone?
3. Reputation points
Q. what are they neccessary for in the big picture of things? (crafting? quests? level ups?)
4. Marriage
Q. Is this a zen only purchase? other than buying from mall or other players is there a way to get married via quest or findin the required bridal silk & groom mat in game?
5. Genies
Q. can we have more than one per toon?
Q.b. We are not quite clear on the trading... please clarify: If want to trade or sell a genie we set to trade state then wait 160+ hrs before it is tradeable? or what exactly is the process to trade or sell? what is the timer about?
Q.c. EXP infusion stones~ a member of group turned his genie into a lvl 19 stone... tried to infuse another genie with it.... got 2 points made another level 6 stone got his genie to level 6 (the player is level 22 when this process was attempted.) what did he do wrong with the lvl 19 stone? he used the "lvl up option" the stone disapeared yet his genie didnt gain any levels with the 19 stone.
Q.d. Growth points (this is said to be what decides the bonus "random points a genie acquires every 10 levels) My question is: do all genies start with 50 growth? what is the max growth a genie can start with? & is it possible to do something in game to increase that number?
6. Armor/Weapons
Q. at what level do we really need to start investing in uber gear?
Q.b. ummm what is considered uber gear? (ex I hear of legendary sets, is that the ultimate?) what makes base equipment uber? When to add sockets? when to refine? ect this info we really need as 5 in the group love PvP & 2 of us are PvE types that get pulled into many adventures lol
7. Death (saw a list somewhere that showed percentages)
Q. at what level when we die do we risque items being lost?
Q.b. is this only when PvP? or PvE too?
Q.c. other than binding items is there a way to protect precious items?
So far those are the questions we have. Please keep in mind we are uber noobs that have chosen each of a different class to explore with, thus we cannot ask what we do not know, that being said any additional tips or reading material you can reccommend will be greatly appreciated especially if worded in pb& j terms

1. Crafting
A. If you want to craft the items that are displayed at the blacksmith, tailer, etc. you will need only the materials. You will not need a base weapon to craft those. (If you click on the item you want to craft, it will show you all the materials you will need.) On the other hand, you can acquire molds that can be crafted into better weapons and armor. These will require both the mold itself and the materials. You forge molds at the forges in South Archosaur.
2. Cupboards/inventory/banking etc quests
A. You can do both quests to expand inventory and safe, but you can only expand the bank through the in-game material gathering quests. You can expand your bank slots twice, adding 8 slots each time. These quests aren't available for inventory. If you want to expand your bank further and your inventory, you'll need stones from the cash shop. (Personally, I expanded my bank with the 2 quests first before expanidng my inventory and bank further. I don't know if the order matters, but you should be able to do both.)
A.b. As far as I know, you can't expand your cupboard without a stone. You need stones to both activate the feature and expand it.
3. Reputation points
A. Reputation is required for rank equipment. At lvl 30, you will be eligible to acquire rank 1 equipment if you have the necessary amount of rank. At lvl 40, you can get rank 2 (given you have the right amouth of rep.) and so on. The amount of reputation becomes increasingly hard to get for each lvl of rank, and at rank 8 I think you need a total of 200k of rep. I think most players have agreed that rank equipment isn't really worth it until you get to rank 4 or 5+.
4. Marriage
A. Marriage will require bride and groom packs no matter what. There is not a quest that will allow you to marry without them.
5. Genies
A. You can have more than 1 genie per toon, but you can't equip more than one genie at the same time. You can't change genies midway through a fight either, while you're in attack mode.
A.b. Genies are initially in a non-tradeable state. While in this state, they can't be sold, traded, auctioned, neither can they gain experience. To switch it into a tradeable state, you need to hit the option "Switch Trade State". It will take seven days to switch it to the tradeable state.
A.c. When you decompose a genie into an experience cube, you will recieve penalties for that switch. Thus, a lvl 19 genie will not turn into a cube with the cumulative amount of experience of a lvl 19 genie. If you level a genie with a cube lvl lower than that of a genie, you will also recieve experience penalties. (Same with your character, you only have a certain infusion ration based on the levels of the genie and character).
A.d. Every genie starts with 50 growth points. As far as I know, this does not have any impact on the number of lucky points a genie gets every 10 lvls. I have seen all four stages of genies, and all of them have 50 growth points. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this :P.
6. Armor/Weapons
A. I can't really answer this question with certainty. It really depends on you as a player. This is just my personal experience. I leveled fairly quickly through lvls 1-50, so investing in good gear wasn't worth it since I outleveled it quickly. There are quests that will give you fairly decent gear throughout those levels, and I mainly relied on those. Once I hit mid 50s, I started investing in better 3* gear and mold equipment when I had the coin. Pretty much, the slower I think I will level through any 10 lvls, the more willing I am to spend more on good gear.
A.b. Twilight Temple (TT) gear is considered pretty good. You can start getting TT weapons and lvl 60 and armor at lvl 70. Some mold gears are better than TT, but my knowledge is limited to Light Armor. Weapon wise, you can also get Frostcovered City weapons at lvl 85 and Lunar Glade weapons at 95. Again, my knowledge is limited to bows, xbows, and slingshots but a lot prefer these weapons over the TT weapons. As to when to refine, I would say generally the same thing about investing in good gear. I would definitely try your weapons and higher lvls (60+). Both refining and adding socket stones can get expensive. Generally, it seems to me that refining is prefered over adding socket stones to a weapon, then adding a soulstone.
7. Death
A. You can only lose items if your name is redish. Shades range from light pink to dark red and the redder your name (meaning the more people you have pked), the higher the chance you have of dropping items. Players on both PvP and PvE servers go or can go pk starting at lvl 30. There is a "safe lock" apparently on the PvP servers, but I don't know too much about that. (Thread about it in the forums somehwere, just search :P)
A.b. Items are only lost during PvP. You will not drop items if you're killed by a mob. (I'm not quite sure what you mean by aoe in this context, since this refers to attacks like Barrage of Arrows or Dragon's Breath.)
A.c. You can buy Guardian Scrolls to prevent item loss, but this might be much more expensive in the long run since Guardians Scrolls are expendable items. Each time you die, one scroll will be used (regardless if you were killed by a player or a mob).
Please keep in mind that some of these questions were rather subjective, and I've answered based on my own experiences. If anyone else have anything to add, please do. ^^0 -

It is quite comprehensive b:laugh0 -
dying to a mob has a 1% chance to drop something from your inventory.
even if blue named
White named players however (those over level 30) have the 1% drop chance for inventory items if they're not safety-locked or carrying guardian scrolls.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Said information being outdated and corrected by GMs in the general forum patch announcements when the shatter system was introduced.
See:

for the new information. (And yes, it'd be nice if PWI fixed their on-site guides)0 -
Welcome to the game.Lvl 1 & 2 crafting are pretty straight forward, my question is, beyond those when i craft say at lvl 4 a weapon, will i need to have a base weapon along with the mats or just mats in order to create the required item for skill upgrade ect? Please if u can post an example of an item crafted from a-z (so to speak) would be greatly appreciated.
Crafting:
1. Go to the vendor - tailor, blacksmith or craftsman, depending on what you want to make. You need to choose the right LEVEL of vendor, too - the starter cities make 1-3 stuff, arch makes 4-6 etc.
3. Choose 'manufacture' conversation option, to get to a page with all the stuff you can craft. Choose the one(s) you like the look of, and look at what they require to make.
4. Collect the materials you need.
5. At the vendor, crank up the number of the item you want to make and hit manufacture.
6. Wait for the mats to be used and the items to appear in your inventory.
7. The items may have zero,1,2 or even three stars. They may or may not have sockets, or magical bonuses. Keep crafting till you get the items you want.Cupboards/inventory/banking ect quests
You can have one of these quests active at a time. The inventory and cupboard use cash-shop items, trash those quests unless you have bought the items. The bank quest can give two free rows from in game items ('collect the materials') and everything else is cash shop.3. Reputation points
You need a few rep points to unlock certain quests (50 rep for the FB19 quest) - mainly they are for certain items of gear. A decent ring is your first reward. the very best gear is available through reputation - but the amount you need is prohibitive.Marriage: Is this a zen only purchase?
Yes.Genies
Genies are complicated, please see the various genie guides.6. Armor/Weapons
The first 'named' gear is available at level 60. most people advise not using shards, or worrying too much about legendary stuff before then.
The really good stuff starts becoming available, uh... 80? 90? 99? It all pretty much ramps up as your character does.
I'm still using plenty of random drops that are level 66 that out-do the named 80 stuff.
If you want a number - there's a BIG jump between the TT80 and TT90 gear.7. Death
http://pwi-wiki.perfectworld.com/index.php?title=Dying
Some gear comes with the attribute 'does not drop on death', and there's also messing around with the safety lock.0 -

And yes, I misread the info on blue name players (was still looking at PK info, not PvE info) so the 1% droprate stands on inventory items. That being said, you will only drop a single item, never a stack. So if you lose, for example, grease from a stack of 12 you will still have 11 left. Pink named players will lose a stack of items up to a certain amount (im sure someone can clarify this better or correct me if im wrong).[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Some very useful info & links ty all again b:pleased0
