Where'd the aggro go?

I think quite a few people - especially those who started new non-TB toons lately - noticed a lot of the 1 - 25 mobs lost their auto-aggression habits. I know I did, and I was kind of sad face to see that happen as the automatic aggro was one of the things that actually made me pay attention while questing at those levels.

Aaaanyway... I think I found where all this aggro went. Enflamed Reavers - level 26 mobs in and around the Flag Hill area - seem to have this nasty habit of spawning... and no matter how far away you are, automatically running after you. Something they never did before. It's happened to my veno on several occasions now. At first I thought I was standing too close to respawns, so I decided to be a little more watchful.

I then discovered that what actually happened, was I would kill an Enflamed Reaver, a new mob would respawn a few seconds after... and immediately aggro on the veno even if I was well out of aggro range. Typically, there's also a few seconds between a monster respawning and it actually aggro'ing on a nearby person. This few second interval was gone.

Just curious if anybody else happened to notice this or any other mobs doing the same thing. o_O

as a veno, u usualy have the habit of maby healing ur pet once after each mob, with the heal just as its dead and about to instant respawn, it will agro the mob for some random reason,

especialy a pain for clerics when some inst mob spawns pop up right next to u and auto agro b:surrender

I would agree with the statement... if I actually healed my pet after each mob. However, having left this quest for lower levels until later than normal, I don't need to heal my pet after every Reaver I kill - if I use a pet at all. =P Otherwise I would have said heal aggro be a plausible reason as to why it happens.

And even then, heal aggro seems a little odd when, if I do heal the pet, I heal before the mob even respawns - and when it does respawn it's so far away from you an archer would have to run up to it to start firing at it. There's still no actual reason why that mob should instantaneously aggro on anybody - there should still be the few seconds before it starts to randomly attack people in it's aggro range, nevermind people well outside of it. =P

Had, not have. They've pretty much nerfed 90% of agro mobs below level 30.

I also had this happening to me quite some times.
A reaber that was further away then any archer could shoot suddenly aggroed me from that huge distance.

Maybee they now got mobiles and are like "WTF, you killed my brother because my cousin send me an sms about i"b:shocked

    This +1.

When I played my very first toon on the Beta, I would aggro those mobs right outside west arch. I'm leveling some alts and found almost 0 aggro there now. Kind of disappointing-though this means I haven't died as much as I used to...

Yeah, I was so disappointed by this when I started this character. What happened to all the fun that used to be broken bow bluff?! XD I know it was frustrating back when, but that was part of the fun! Not to mention it taught a new player quick how to fight or avoid agroing mobs... now it's all happy fluffy no-agro-here until what, the mid 30s-40s questing areas?

I was disappointed and I still fail to see why they'd change the agro. I feel like I didn't get to have fun the way I wanted until later levels. But there's just nothing like the chaos of broken bow. so many players there and so many agroing mobs. sigh :( I miss the old days lol.

Yeah, I don't know why they nerfed the aggro on lower level mobs. I actually kind of miss it.

Anyways, I've noticed the same "reincarnation aggro" occasionally with my psychic. When I kill a mob, and it gets in a final shot, triggering reflected damage from Soul of Vengeance, sometimes that mob reincarnates with aggro towards my psychic and charges in for the attack as soon as it reappears.

I'm guessing this is some "order of operations" failure in the code, where aggro is getting cleared too early on a dead mob, and something else (damage or healing) gives it aggro after the aggro was cleared but before it vanishes, thus the aggro is still there when it comes back. A simple/obvious bug fix would be to clear the aggro (and any other buffs/debuffs) just before the mob reincarnates.

I would just like to note that I was running blissfully through mobs today on my lowbie alt to find that they were actually attacking me. Is aggro fixed? It seems to be.

Aggro seems to be mostly restored to what it was before. I still don't know if mobs are still spawn aggroing though. I'll check later when I grind on my veno.

On my cleric (who's 3x) I can seeminly walk into every group of mobs without getting any agro. However if I heal myself after killing a mob, everything in a 15 mile radius jumps me.

I remember specifically on my first character thinking to myself "Okay, Arboride Dryads don't aggro, but Venomous Ghouls do..." A week or so ago I was going through as a lowbie and none of the wolves/mobs I remembered aggroing did. After this last patch, they started attacking me again. b:cute

I love random bug fixes that aren't mentioned in the patches...

Thanks *so much* for bringing this up...really. The best part of was that I was *actually* able to pull one singular monster without every monster in a 10 foot radius in crowded areas rushing over to swat me. Really..thanks for complaining, much appreciated.

Before the last patch the mobs in the front of the secret passage were no longer aggro, now they are again. Wish the devs would make up their mind!! My low lvl had got used to running thru there without things hitting in the first room, now everything attacks. Even stuff across the room I'm not even close to!

I've not went out and tested if the stuff around the mines are aggro again, especially those werewolf spearmen etc... but the SP definitely has aggro back.

Its the same for the stuff in Hidden Orchid Valley. The mantis and scorpions stopped aggroing for a long time, now after patch, i ride through and get hit by everything. It tickles but its like Oo we playing aggro on aggro off each patch x.x; its getting so confusing.

At least the mobs I usually grind are all aggroable b:surrender so no change there.
