wtf is this... i had a whole thing type up and it got cut off at the first word. anyways this is what i am wondering since i started to play again. how does defense level work with armor defense. for example, one have a def level of 10 and 50% dmg reduction from armor. is the dmg reduction calculated in a one step or two step reduction process.

for the sake of calculation lets assume a dmg of 100.

one step:
100-100(.1+.5)= 40 damage dealt

two step:
100-100(.1)= 90
90-90(.5)= 45 damage dealt

there is a difference of 5 dmg for every 100 dmg dealt between the two ways of calculation... and this will add up at high end pks. since i am not holding my breath for an gm response... was wondering if anyone actually tried to test this out?

The damage is first filtered by your armor damage reduction, the remainder is then filtered by your defense level.

So if you have 50% damage reduction from armor, after the first filter, the 100 damage is lowed to 50, then this remaining 50 is further filtered by your defense level of 10, so you end up receiving 45 damage. That's how I understand it.

Thats why i assumed too... but i was aleast hoping def levels would aleast stack with armor def.

consider that bb reduces dmg by 50%... and i am pretty much sure that i have over 50% mag/phy armor rst. is it does stack... i would have over 100% rst against all dmg... with the game engine it'll be capped at 99%. 99% rst is pretty much no dmg taken... too bad thats not the case.

that brings up another question... would including bb turn it in to a 3 step reduction... or does 2 of those stack up.

the defense lvl filters from the original dmg meanign 100.
so lvl 10 deff lvl means 10% less dmg. 90 out of 100
armor halves the dmg meaning 50 out of 100 so in the end u add the % and get a total of 40 dmg out of 100. the filtering isn'T done in steps but alltogether from the original dmg should have dealth to u without u having armor on and defense lvl (hope u understood what i meant lol...not good at explaining in english)

From what I understand, each factor that reduces dmg is a differen step. So you have first armor, than bless, than defence lvl (or in w/e order that happends). If it would stack a barb using invoke would have waaay more than 100% dmg reduction, capping it off at 1dmg per hit. Howerver you do deal more dmg than 1 per hit on an invoked barb (not much more, but still abit more)
