How do i disable the safety lock permanently?

A very good question. How to make the safety lock not apply to my account permanently, meaning it NEVER turns on. I'm not a stupid idiot. I am the only person that plays games at my house. This isn't World of ******** where accounts get hijacked all the time. No PWI accounts get sold on ebay. I repeat, there is absolutely NO NEED for a safety lock. No other MMO has that, none but all three of PWE's games.

Can't use mail, AH, otr do anything at all concerning items. Can't drop useless loot you accidentally picked up. The safety lock takes away from the playability of PWE's games. I like to login real quick occasionally and check my mail, but I have to wait five stinking minutes to even check my mail. This serves no useful purpose.

For being a F2P MMOG company, PWE doesn't seem to want to have anyone play their games, as they keep stupid things like this safety lock in their games. Can I just delete bound items in PWI, like just throw them in a trash bin and they are instantly and permanently deleted? Hmmm.

Pointless for some, perhaps, but many PK'ers swear by the safety lock as a means to protect their own items from dropping in combat. I personally feel, however, that the whole POINT in having items drop from redname players was that it was the price you pay for killing non-combatants. Safety lock considerably diminishes risk (the risk now involves a tiny 4% chance for an equipped item to shatter, which is scarcely a risk at all) effectively giving the green-light to RPK. I don't mind PvP, but killing players who either can't or won't fight back is pointless. It doesn't prove you're stronger than they are, only that you're the bigger coward, but I digress.

If you want to turn ON the safety lock, click the little padlock icon below your character. You can pick a time to set the safety lock to (most PKers choose around 1hr) during which time you CANNOT do anything that involves losing items or money. This includes trade with NPCs and accessing the auctions.

It does serve a purpose, but its largely on PvP servers where its been exploited for the reasons I've mentioned. On PvE it's only really useful as a means to safeguard your account from possible fraudsters, but personally I prefer having a good hard-to-guess password and changing it every so often. It makes a much better deterrent and doesn't stop me buying materials for my crafts.
