Is this normal?

I was heading over to that pyre thing to kill some Tauren Slaves for the grail, and one group of people (well, one person in particular) seemed to be drawing aggro easily and killing them all within seconds. They all just kept respawning and running over to attack the magician casting some odd spell. Here's some screenshots:

The magician is circled in green. Whenever I tried to speak to her (I was asking to join her squad because...well, why not? She was killing all the monsters I needed anyway) she just responded with afk so I figured it was an automated message. No one else that seemed to be fighting with her would respond either - they just picked up the millions and millions of items that were dropping.

I could be totally wrong, but the behavior seemed bottish. During the attack, she'd stand on one leg with her arm in the air and turn erratically from side. Again and again and again. Enlighten me?

It's a wizzy spell, Dragon's Breath. It continuously casts as long as they have MP so it can keep going if they have a MP charm. And it's AoE so it attacks all the mobs nearby.

I removed the second image as it had the guild name exposed. If you truly think this person is botting please send in a ticket so we can investigate further. In the future, please try to submit a ticket if you have a similar concern.

It could just be good positioning though.

Seems like a high level Wizard wasting her MP Charm by leaving Dragon's Breath on and afking.

I'm not sure why everyone is so approving of this behavior whether it's botting or not. When extremely high level players act in ways that block other players from playing through at their normal level activities... that is violating the ToS which states a player is not allowed to prevent the enjoyment of the game by other players.

Not that I'm surprised. I learned the hard way when herds of higher level players blocked me for DAYS from killing the spider king for my normal quest.

In my opinion ticketing these issues has become a joke. Why do I say that? Because when you tell the people you are placing a ticket they laugh at you hysterically & say it's a joke.

Thanks for clarifying. ^_^ I didn't really believe it was botting but I wanted to make sure...never saw that spell done before, and I've done FBs with several wizards before. o_O She must be level 100 or something.

lol its called dragons breath and you get it at lvl 29 it costs 1 spark and uses a good bit of mana ever so many seconds.

If you tried to contact them and they were afk and left on auto message, then it's pretty certain it's botting imo. Especially if you get the skill at 29, taurocs are at a nice level to not be able kill a charmed low 3x wiz but still give okish exp. Slap on 2 charms and a training eso and go watch a movie or something.

Worth reporting so a GM can check anyway.

I have a lvl 74 wizard and I can tell you a wizard of the level even near those tauroc slaves would die. Therefore I know that wizard is a decent level well above them. To take on two at a time, would be near impossible. The people around her likely were NOT in a squad with her. They saw an opportunity to pick up loot and took it. And who could blame them, she was certainly afk as her away message said so they was grabbing it up.

I understand your frustration with the ticketing system. In the past it has been a joke but I've seen progress to indicate PWI has taken notice and they are starting to step up their game as far as punishment goes for violating any TOS.

I can first assure u that the wizzy isnt "extremely high level" for 1 and 2 those mobs spawn all around the grounds there, not just where hes at. Id guess 30's as DarkSeph suggest, 40 tops, but unlike him i dont see the harm in it. If he can aoe, walk away and go do something then come back later to check on it, more power to him. His/Her charm, coin, gold, time, pc, internet service, whatever, let him be. Either way, does the ToS say you have to be in your seat at all times? Come on, thats ridiculous. If they have auto reply on turn them in? wow. I often do fb's, bountys, TT with auto reply on because i dont want to be bothered with other ppl at the moment. Hell i've quested with it on for the same reason. lol, is that botting?

For future reference, a lvl 100 wiz would be lucky to get 1XP per kill and would need millions to lvl just once.

For the dude QQing about the spider king, i dont know what server your on but on Heavens Tear theres normally a line (when oracles are in abundance) to kill the spider up to 5 times in a row each player and yes its usually higher lvls in line. Most often when u show up needing it for DQ or whatever reason and u ask someone will help u. Theres always the occasional prick that wont but 95% of the server will as long as your not trying to be a prick about it yourself.

This, there is no program computing actions for the player. The game is functioning just as it should normally function.

Ok I did this same very thing today on my wiz for the wraithbone quest. I didnt go afk, I was about lvl31-32. I used dragon breath because the taurocs spawn quickly and aggro. And so I didnt die I used pots, life powder (which I used anyways) and second wind genie skill. I also had a hp charm.

Sooooo even if it was me u pm'd I wouldnt have answered till I finnished and sorry but I wouldn't have squaded anyway lol.

Botting : automated repetetive actions that collects/kills/farms as if a player was "driving" at the keyboard.

If you consider this keyword : "automated", then putting up a char in an automated mode so you do not need to be present for that char to collect and kill mobs is in fact "botting".

A "Zhen" party is per definition a party where "players" gather the mobs NOT automatically but by self performed actions in order to kill them in the most efficient way.

So, setting up your char in automode to collect mobs and kill them and then go AFK, falls under the definition of botting and thus is a bannable offence.

However, even IF there might be a different interpretation of this, the TOS clearly states that interfering in a harmful way with the gaming experience of other players is a bannable offence.

Thus : Setting up "automode", going afk, like it was totally clear by the automsg the OP received, and preventing him from doing his quest IS bannable according to the TOS.

This is oc all good in theory, but in my opinion, the OP should have done this :

1. take a clear screenshot of the "suspected" botter in question
(i say "suspected" because that is only decided by GM's)

2. leave the area, do another quest or something else.

3. after about an hour(or more), go back. IF the "suspected" botter is still there, again take screenshot of it WITH the automsg clearly visible.

Send in ticket with included screenshots stating TIME and server.

Probability is higher that that player WILL be banned of interfering with the players gaming experience by preventing them from finishing/doing a quest. But that is, again, to the GM's discretion.

Is this normal?
