okay. so i'm getting sick and tired of being tugged around on this

first off, Surtr specifically stated:
Surtr wrote: »
It's only a bannable offense to directly edit the .ini files. Moving them around, sending them to your friends, putting them up online... All of that is fine.

in other words, a person can move the .ini files as they please, INCLUDING BETWEEN FOLDERS, just as long as they DO NOT EDIT the file itself outside of the ingame editor. this is fact, as per Surtr's statement, and cannot be argued against

however:
We can clarify this for you:

The post regarding moving .ini files was taken out of context. Surtr stated that moving .ini files was okay provided that the presets you are moving are intended to be used on all races.

The race specific hair styles should not be used for other races, because they are meant to be used on a specific one. Modifying files to put the hair style for a different race on your character is NOT allowed, and it is against the terms of service.

HOWEVER:

Yes I am making same class. But I figured how to fix it.

My hairstyle was only really available on options (not on the pre made ones) to Venomancer class (I play cleric). So what I did (step by step):

Please note that modifying game files can result in Bad Things that can happen, like temp bans.

To clarify, moving them around is fine. Editing them is not.

in other words, MOVING the file to get a CLASS SPECIFIC hairstyle onto another class is WITHIN TERMS OF SERVICE. however, EDITING the file to get the same result IS BANNABLE

so of course it begs the question, Surtr was explicitly clear about what IS OK and IS BANNABLE.

why then is it said that what he/she said is "out of context"?

because what Surtr was commenting on, is EXACTLY what we (the players) are doing by putting tideborn hair on old classes, or old class hair on tideborn

... ... ... ... ...

this thread will probably be locked, but i post this on behalf of all the players who are now considered to be hackers and bannable

I read the following in short.

    - Moving files is not bannable.
    - Editing them is very bad. (BAN)
    - Moving files so classes can have hair that they are not supposed to have is bannable.

I'm missing something here since it sorta seemed clear to me what the GM staff was stating.
tatuaje: grinding mobs and zhenning ???
frankieraye:All right, I admit it, it's a bit retro. lol.

I think you are misinterpreting what has been said, observe:

So lets say you have a preset (meaning you made it using our character creator) with a hairstyle that goes on humans and elves, you want to move that preset from the human to the elf preset.

That's fine, because the hairstyle is meant to be on both.

If you have a TB, and you want a TB specific hairstyle on another race, that is not allowed.

This has been clarified many times in the past, my apologies if this was not clear to you. Please PM me if you would like to continue this discussion.

They made it so you can't get it for a reason, that's the point. Not "out of context" or anything. What Surtr said applied when nothing was race-specific. The rules have to adapt to the game.

The official word last I saw was that the specific veno hair in question was 'unintentionally removed' from other classes and so this is a workaround.

That is a huge stretch as the game has always had hairstyles not available for all classes and there is no requirement when sharing presets to use them in the same class they were originally created for.

However, if you notice in the AH there are now filters for "Women's Hair" fashion. I am counting on these to enable people to use hair as good as tideborn hair if not better.

I can understand the needs for ToS and rules BUT, so many other things in this game that should be watched out for and possibly result in a ban. Seems a bit silly and counter productive to watch out for all the evil hair hackers. b:chuckle

I'm going to re-quote this and lock the thread. This is because I do not want players to confuse the official answer with any specific player interpretation. b:victory

People who are taking Surtrs quotes fail to mention that they are being taken out of context. He posted that as a general response, please refer to the specific official response above.
