could not launch game....249 ver

So I did my updates today and afterwards clicked start and it said above it "couldnt not launch game". At first i thought oh well i need to verify everything prob. did that then clicked start same thing again "could not launch game". restarted the comp thinking well maybe it need to restart for it to take effect.. but alas i still cant get the game to actullay open up. can any one help me whith this prob and hopefully find a way for it not to happen again if all possible...thank you for your time b:victory~ Kamuy_tripp

    So i read that you need to have the elementclient.exe file in the pwi folders and i checked and its not there at all... is ther any way someone could send me a copy or tell me how to go about gettin it in the folder for it again so i can play..i will be there ***** for like 40 years or something..

    the game worked fine yesterday(tuesday) and here i am thrusday morn at 3 30 am tryin to fig out why its gone from the file and what the hell happend.. so please please could someone send me a copy or tell how to go about getting it back .

    i tried uninstalling and reinstalling and that was a huge waste of time and am out of idea of what to do so please if yall can help me out b:cry its driving me mad....

    I'm having the exact same problem. I have verfied the file, and here is a screenshot of the problem.

    This happened RIGHT after the update, the version of the client is correct, ver. 249. I clicked verify files (and waiting hours...) to no avail. And because the OP has already tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I will not do so. Can we receive any technical assistance on this matter? If us two are having this problem, then I'm quite sure that we are not the only ones.

    ya i think it might be only us....but i deleted everything for pwi and then reinstalled the bas tered again and it still has the same damn prob..i dunno what to do and none of the damn tech people will actully help with the prob so i think we might just be screwed with the whole thing...

    wich really sucks cos i love this game but if i cant fix it or find out how to from one of the "tech supports" i guess i just gonna delete it and move on but hopefuly they will help with the prob instead of just saying the same damn 3 thingsb:angry... any way if you find out someting man let me know my e-mail is kai8707@comcast.net hit me up if you find out anything it would be greatly appreciated...thanks for your input and time~kamuy

    Same thing as OP, did update like one should and received could not launch game. Verified and still had could not launch game. Uninstalled and reinstalled TWICE and yet still could not launch game. Although when patching I did get malware notice from my anti-virus each time, so turning off that program is not an option. I'm not computer savvy but somehow didn't think you needed a degree in the computer field to download an online MMO game or when updating the game. Guess I was wrong or am not smart enough to figure out this sort of problem b:chuckle Normally I have a lot of patience when coming across a little hiccup of a problem (like this being the 4th or 5th time it has happened since I started where I could not launch game) but this is slightly grating on my nerves and for what should be an enjoyable experience becomes frustration.

    Nope you guys are definitely not alone... a few people were complaining about this same problem in the general discussions section... don't worry.. I am sure they will fix it.. they can't afford to lose players because of this incident.. plus add the people who would go to all the gaming sites and write to the gaming mags and whatnot about the problem.. bad pr and all that isn't good for business. I am sure they are working on the problem. I guess we just have to sit around and wait.. b:bored

    Hey guys...I ran into this problem as well, looking deeper into the problem I noticed after the patch elementclient.exe was missing from the element directory where it belongs...I noticed that during the patch i had an anti virus warnin pop up and it appears that the new patch triggered the anti virus and it deleted elementclient.exe, I shut off my anti virus software reinstalled and the game was up and running.

    I have the exact same problem. I agreed to download a patch/update for PWI. Immediately after, my virus program gave me a malware notification. When I tried to enter the game, it said "Could not launch game"

    And today it's my day off to play. I guess I should go out or something hahahaa

    Yup.. no elementclient.exe so i guess I have no other choice but to delete and re-download.. great.. another 7h download time... :)

    Great, if i have to uninstall it to work, then i'll never be able to get it to work -.-(when ever i finish uninstalling it and go back to the file's folder, the files are still there) Can someone tell me another way to get it to work or a way to fix the problem of not being able to uninstall my files?

    Thank you for the input. Now that I know that the elementclient.exe is the only problem, I think I will get the file from my friend, does anyone know how big the file is? Is it sendable through email? If I get the file, I can put it up on an upload sharing website and assuming I'm allowed to put the link up on this forum, I will put it up and everyone can use the file (hopefully). I have no idea whether a copy of the file will work so...after I get it when I get home, I will give some feedback.

    PLEASE MAKE SURE TO TURN OFF ANY ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE WHILE DOWNLOADING THIS FILE, PASTING IT INTO THE ELEMENT FOLDER, AND RUNNING THE PATCHER (just in case)!

    After you download it, all you do is find your perfectworld folder, go to "element", and paste the file "elementclient.exe" into that folder.

    haha Your right bout that man is is some super bad pr for them but i do also belive they will fig it out and like the dude one or two posts below my antivirus software poped up and i dont have the elementlauncher.exe.......why would part of their game pop up as a threat to our computers so much lol

    but anyways thanks for all yalls help and input on the matter i gues im gonna try and install the game again and hope it does it right for i have no other ideas at the moment.. and if that dont work i guess ill just wait till i hear on the fourms something got fixedb:surrender..

    Well, it depends on which directory you installed Perfect World. I picked Program files, so my directory was:
    C:/Program Files/Perfect World Entertainment/Perfect World International/element

    thats where I put the "elementclient.exe". If you put it in that folder, when you start the patcher and click "Start game", if you automatically work, if it asks you and says "from unknown publisher", click yes. Then the game should come up and start loading.

    well i cant find it and the game still wont work so i guess im throwin in the towel.. i might try to download the whole game a few more times if it dont work but rather than that im out of ideas and energy to keep runin about and looking for ways to fix this soo i gonna go try a to download it again and pray to god it works and actully downloads the client all the way this timeb:sad..wish me luck.

    i can find it but it will not verify and iv'e tried to turnoff the smart filter to allow it but it will not turn off, does anyone know how to do that
