One thing that really annoys me with online forums is that if someone makes a thread that people have seen before, people will complain that they didn't use the search function

But if someone DOES use the search function and post in that thread, the same people complain they are resurrecting old threads.

    i got annoyed when people post pointless threads (hint)

    anyways, if the topic is over a month old, and the persons question is answered, why post on it?

    if it wasnt answered in previous posts, then they should make a new thread asking their question.

    -kinda hard to explain if u dont give an example-

    Me suggest that one start a new thread and link to the old one.
    if they has a question the old thread did not answer.

    most people get upset when the question has been answered and they still post or start a new thread.

    The issue is more when someone asks a question that is still on the first page of the forums.

    Take the thread that just came up a few minutes ago, the whole "Don't use X".

    If he posted that in an existing thread, the next 3 posts would invariably be "omg y u res this thread"

    Then the thread would be locked.

    However, by posting a new thread, the first three posts would be

    omg not again

    and probably locked anyway, it's a catch 22

    but posting an opinion on a old thread already filled with opinions is pointless.

    The difference is, necromancy is not permitted here. Making a new thread about an issue when no other active thread on that subject is present (that's the crucial part) is perfectly okay.

    Trolls will always come in with "witty" one liners in any thread, but they're just spamming (which is also against the rules) so you don't have to worry about that.

    search=use it to find ur info that u need
